GWOC 2024

Other than beavercreek Springfield is the only other GWOC team fairmont has a winning record against. last two regular seasons fairmont is 2-0 vs the cats. Springfield fans will tell you its luck and bad refs.

To be fair, this guy is the Yankees fan of GWOC football. Never gives respect to the current season and always posts pasts results like it isn’t the same Springfield program that loves to lose the big game every year. Springboro has been consistent under Wilhite. Only coach to make Springfield even worth talking about had to be stolen from trotwood. Just admit you don’t know anything about the Boro team this year outside of what you read online.
Boro team this year is the same as past years when it comes to playing Springfield arent they? And, Springfield also was good under Rick Robertson. Finally, what do you mean Springfield "stole" Douglass from Trotwood? Was he somehow forced to apply for the head coach job when it was advertised? Did someone kidnap and drive him to Springfield for the interview?

Trotwood got screwed during the conference re-alignment. They can certainly compete with GWOC teams in football. Harrison is a long ride for the north of Dayton GWOC schools.
Trotwood did not get screwed. Outside football and basketball they couldn't field a team that would show consistently for other sports. Didn't have the equipment they needed to play. Borrowing from the school they was playing. That's not fair to other schools. Not knowing if they showing or not. So it was a good move by removing trotwood from the gwoc.

Quick sum up of Wayne/Northmont. By the time the game was over water had overflown my shoes. I was so soaked that I had water in places that uh .... well lets leave it at that. Northmont needed a fake punt on their first possession to lead to a TD. Wayne went 3 and out but the defense of Wayne got a stop and Wayne would score on a Thompson 7 yard run where the snap just bounced up into his hands. 7-7 early 2nd. Special teams came up big with a block punt returned for a score. Wayne converted a 2 point conversion to take a 15-7 lead. Wayne had Northmont stopped deep in their own territory on a 4th and 15. During a timeout a Wayne player couldn't keep his mouth shut and a penalty was thrown and the Bolts got the first down to run out the half.

Wayne fumbled the 3rd qtr kickoff but was able to stop the Bolts. Wayne would advance the ball to midfield and would go for it on 4th down. Lewis would find Brown who made one move and was gone for a 50 yard TD completion. 2 point conversion good.... 23-7 Wayne. Lewis would hook up with Brown again in the 4th on a long pass that went for 47 yards.... 30-7 Wayne. Northmont would score late aided by 45 yards of penalties on Wayne..... Final: Wayne 30 Northmont 14.

In the rainy gusty wind weather Lewis threw for 163 yards and 2 TD's in his return. Thompson rushed for 137 yards. Brown had 96 yards receiving and 2 TD's.

This Northmont team is bad...

Half way thru the 4th qtr I actually wanted Northmont to have the ball. They were running down the clock much more efficiently than Wayne who for some reason decided to throw the ball a lot late instead of running. When your own band is chanting "run the ball, run the clock" that they have a better knowledge of game clock control.

Northmont coach on year 8? Good guy history and track coach as well, hope it works out.

Springfield Defense is without a doubt one of the best units in the state of Ohio. If it was not for that Defense they would not be 4-2. After looking at how weak R2 is…they actually have a chance to go to the final 4. I personally think the GWOC is down this year and the region isn’t really good. As long as the defense continues to dominate the game them Springfield might have the best shot at the final 4.

Yea a Springfield didn’t steal Douglas’s from Trotwood. That’s one of the funniest things I e heard. Springfield actually went after Broering from Northmont first since he already had ties to the city and Him and the AD are really good friends. Broering turned it down for a few reasons. Then Springfield went after Douglass once they couldn’t get Broering.

According to these haters, anybody who ever comes to SHS and is successful is stolen, recruited, laws were broken, investigations are needed, games should be forfeited, etc etc. Apparently, when it comes to HS football, this is no longer a free country and you check your civil liberties and constitional rights to travel, freedom, life, liberty and pursuit of happiness at the door. The real question is why SHS's football dynasty distresses these haters so much?? My understanding is Douglass accomplished everything he set out to do at Trotwood and wanted a new challenge in D1 that the new combined Springfield High presented.

SHS defense only gives up on average around 1 score per game. Special teams blunders spotted Winton Woods 9 points. But, the defense only gave up 7 points. Gonzaga and Trotwood scored 14. Since then, the defense has given up a total of 15 points in the next three games, allowing only field goals in two of those games. Opponents' total yardage and first downs keep decreasing each week. The defense is capable of winning a state championship. Just need the offense to wake up.

Yea the defense is really good. The offense definitely needs to wake up. Got the #1 defense in the GWOC and #7 Offense.

Absolutely dominated in the money-making sports don't act like that had nothing to do with it. Is that why the MVL teams left? They couldn't compete in anything. Completely a mismatch! I'm exasperated by the narrative "they couldn't compete outside of Football and Basketball.... they had to use other school's equipment". In what sport was that? Hockey! How many GWOC schools have Hockey? Heck, how many schools have Lacrosse? Why do GWOC schools continue to play Trotwood? GWOC schools have more enrollment numbers than any school around here so of course they're going to have more sports. Most GWOC schools are surburban so the economy is more affluent than most places, kids are exposed to various activies including sports. Most kids in these other leagues in the area aren't as fortunate to be exposed to leisure activities as your Centerville, Beavercreek, Springboro, and Miamisburg are. No fault of theirs but values are completely different.

Centerville @ Miamisburg. This one gets ugly, ELKS run the clock

Fairmont @ Northmont. Birds get it done again but this one may be closer than most feel.

Beavercreek @ Springboro. Creek struggle as Boro's defense is too good. Boro rolls in this one.

Wayne @ Springfield. So we have the #1 offensive team in yards going up against the #1 defensive team. Also, the #8 defensive team against the #7 team on offense...... This one could get interesting. For Springfield to get the win, play conservative and take what is given. Ware down the Wayne defense and score at will in the 2nd half. For Wayne to win, Must have a plus 2 turnover rate. Keep mouth shut/no 15 yard penalties. Finish drives on offense and get off the field on 3rd down on defense. Do not self destruct in the last minute of the first half. My prediction..... Springfield wins by 7 to 10 points.

PREACH!!!!

I thought you picked Wayne to make a run and win the region when QB 1 returned

Yes I did. I stated that Wayne would be 1-6 and then win 7 straight. I did not think Wayne would beat Springfield his first game back being out of game shape..... but since he came back a week before I think they have a better shot at it but the defense of Wayne needs to vastly improve.

Wayne just provided the blueprint to beat Springfield defense. The secondary is definitely the weak spot of the defense but nobody could tell cause teams they’ve played so far didn’t throw much. Wayne just played more physical football tonight. But like I said at the start of the season. The offense is the problem. Simple as that. I can’t remember the last time Springfield got beat by 30. Especially to a GWOC foe.
