Sounds like the GWOC in a few weeks will have some job openings!!
Springfield and Fairmont already have Trotwood on their schedules for weeks 2 and 3. I don't think GWOC schools typically have trouble scheduling OOC games at the beginning of the season.Hello! I’m just an observer and I’m not necessarily a fan of any of the GWOC Schools, but I just wanted to get some opinions on a possible realignment that would be a football only move (granted this will probably never happen). I would think that the GWOC schools don’t like having weeks 2-3 open? As most local non conference teams their size are in conferences at 10 teams (GMC, ECC, MVL). So this makes scheduling in weeks 2-3 a bit tough I would think, but correct me if I’m wrong.
So my move is what if the GWOC added Harrison from the SWOC (which is a dead conference) and Trotwood as football only members. Trotwood already has a history with the GWOC, and I know they were left out for obvious reasons such as not being able to field competitive teams or any teams in other sports outside of football, basketball and track. But Trotwood I think fits the GWOC in football, and they have recently moved up to D2. Harrison I know is a bit further out of the way, and travel can be a pain especially for Springfield and maybe Northmont and Wayne. However, Harrison is growing rapidly and they are a solid football club and they don’t really have a good home, I think they can easily be independent in other sports, but I think they would like to find some sort of security for their football program. And would the travel be that bad if it was only for Friday nights in the fall? I think this benefits everyone involved, Harrison and Trotwood get more secure football scheduling and the GWOC schools get weeks 2-3 covered. I know this won’t happen, but I thought it was a fun idea.
Thoughts?
RE: Wayne @ Northmont...no possibility Wayne is outcoached by Northmont.Centerville @ Beavercreek: Creek wins their first league game since 2017 last week but it will be back on the losing side this week. Elks will turn them over and take advantage winning going away in the 2nd half.
Miamisburg @ Fairmont: What happened to Burg's starting QB? Fairmont was a missed PAT away from putting a running clock on Wayne. The clock will be running this time around but will anyone notice?
Wayne @ Northmont: Is there any possible way Wayne could get outcoached by Northmont.... lol, anyhoo, Wayne will finally get something going on the road and take it to the Bolts. This one could be a high scoring game.
Springboro @ Springfield: Could this be for the league championship? Springfield's defense is too tough and will shut down the Panthers the question will be can the CATS score more against the stingy Panther defense? Look for the CATS to win by 2 scores or more.....
Trotwood got screwed during the conference re-alignment. They can certainly compete with GWOC teams in football. Harrison is a long ride for the north of Dayton GWOC schools.Hello! I agree on that. Trotwood got the bad end of the stick. I actually think the DPS league besides football is an amazing fit for trotwood in all other sports, but they just blow those schools out of the water in football. Harrison is definitely a far drive for the GWOC schools north of Dayton, that’s why I would only see it as a football only move. Not a trip anyone would want to make on Mon-Thurs. for volleyball, soccer and tennis matches and etc. But with how the Cincy leagues look they really don’t have one they can go to, maybe they could do a contract like Lima and the Toledo City Schools and see how they like it after a couple of years? Harrison would match up great with alot of the gwoc schools and finish in the top half quite frequently in football too.Trotwood got screwed during the conference re-alignment. We could use the rain up here. Aren't all the games mostly on turf? They should be fineA little off topic what is the chance they push the games tomorrow night to Saturday morning? I just read 50 - 60 mph wind gusts tomorrow evening with multiple inches of rain throughout the day. If they do play it's going to be a mess
It's not clear to me what your rankings are, but the "New Ullery" team did win the GWOC last year. Not sure if I would categorize that as struggling. Nevertheless, so far this year I would say the team is struggling and a better consistent running attack as you mention would definitely help. One could say Elk fans are annoyed they lost some good players to the transfer portal, but it is what it is. If the kids or their parents want them to play elsewhere, let them move on.I have a question for everyone about Centerville. I read that people are annoyed with kids transferring to other schools.
Old Centerville (running the triple) did not care who was there and always won. New Centerville is struggling to keep kids around and to keep winning. Centerville is trying to keep the "tough, hard nosed culture" but they are playing soft football IMO. They have good athletes but not the amount that Wayne and Springfield have. They also do not consistnently run the ball and haven't really been able too since 2013.
I just wonder will Centerville look in the mirror and see that the New Ullery is struggling or will he keep his job for a while because of his last name??
Here is where they rank the past 10 years-
Out of 8 GWOC Teams- 7, 5, 4, 4, 5
Out of 10 GWOC Teams- 7
Out of 20 GWOC Teams- 16, 13, 19, 9
They were in the top 1, 2 ,or 3 almost every year before that. Trying to have the same culuture of toughness and not being able to run the ball is not ideal IMO.
I agree. Let em move on, if that is what they want to do.It's not clear to me what your rankings are, but the "New Ullery" team did win the GWOC last year. Well I find it hard that any MVL school would ever try to go back to the GWOC as they all ran away from the GWOC in the first place, but Troy would be cool, also Butler wouldn't be bad. Bellbrook to the MVL also makes a lot of sense, the SWBL big school side is becoming more of a Cincy league then Dayton. Bellbrook also fits great with those schools, but Bellbrook seems happy in the SWBL. Speaking of the SWBL, Monroe is getting pretty big and could outgrow the SWBL, in a decade they could be looking to join a conference of bigger schools.Playing 9 league games every season is boring and stupid. It makes the season more interesting playing different schools in the first 3 weeks of the season. Most of the GWOC schools do not have issues scheduling in the first 3 weeks.
If just for fun I think the obvious would be to move Troy into the GWOC with Trotwood. Bellbrook or Tecumseh takes the place of Troy in the MVL.
Springfield has not beaten a team with a wining record so this should be a good test. Maybe this boro team is more like the 22 tram and not the 23 team. How is Springfield's run game? Doesn't look that good on paper but that can be deceiving. Does the weather tonight bode well for the Panthers??
They have that. Brunicardi is a big boy and hard to bring down averaging 127 yards per game. Will it be enough against the Cats? We will find outSpringboro needs to have a power run game and be capable of just lining up and running between the tackles.
Probably going to be a low scoring affair.
The only team with a winning record boro played they lost 30-6.Springfield has not beaten a team with a wining record so this should be a good test. Maybe this boro team is more like the 22 tram and not the 23 team.
They did lose 30-6 to Elder but for some context, starting QB went out with a concussion in that game and it was 13-6 at the start of the 4th. For what that’s worth…The only team with a winning record boro played they lost 30-6.
Idk how this game will go weather will play a part in it im sure since 2019 the scores have been
23-0 Cats
41-0 Cats
26-0 cats
54-14 cats
28-9 cats

Thanks for the insight on the scheduling, like I said, it was just a guess from my perspective. But I guess the GWOC schools are actually more associated with the Columbus big schools because of how the regions work. So they can play them weeks 2-3 as well.
Again, this was just for fun, I doubt the GWOC wants to expand as they are already a solid league!
Lots of time in the GMVC and the GWOC with Troy and those teams.Troy has ties with the WOL so that would include Wayne, Fairmont, Beavercreek, Springfield, and Centerville which were all in that league with Troy. Also, Troy has long ties with Northmont and Trotwood as well. Of course, Troy-Piqua would have to continue and they could set it up that they could play that game in week 10 every season.
Good point! Wasn’t even thinking of that.Troy has ties with the WOL so that would include Wayne, Fairmont, Beavercreek, Springfield, and Centerville which were all in that league with Troy. To be fair, this guy is the Yankees fan of GWOC football. Never gives respect to the current season and always posts pasts results like it isn’t the same Springfield program that loves to lose the big game every year. Springboro has been consistent under Wilhite. Only coach to make Springfield even worth talking about had to be stolen from trotwood. Just admit you don’t know anything about the Boro team this year outside of what you read online. The only team with a winning record boro played they lost 30-6.

I know another year same result. Didn’t Wilhite come from Wayne as well as your OC? And not even sure where I ever discredited him as a coach or the Boro program lol.To be fair, this guy is the Yankees fan of GWOC football. Fairmont seems to be playing really well. Even the Centerville game they put up a ton of yardsSpringfield’s defense returned a fumble for a TD and also recorded a safety.
If someone gets them this year, it’s going to have to either be Wayne (who has largely been a train wreck this year) next week or Fairmont. Having gotten by tonight odds are they’ll at least get a share of the GWOC title this year IMO. They’ll go at least 6-1 in league play due to their defense and who they’ve already beaten.
