Yes, I remember those politics about setting up the new HS. From what I recall, the North High contingency and teachers were fuming. They felt North HS was being erased while the new HS being built on their campus was going to essentially be South, i.e., blue n gold, wildcats, etc. They even changed the fight song to please those people who apparently didn't know South HS was a continuation of the original SHS before the split. I was also told that when the new HS opened, there was major friction amongst the combined faculty and the former North teachers thought they were superior to the former South teachers. It sounds like Broering was a casualty of this class warfare at the time. Rick Robertson was North's football coach in the 1980's. He was very successful at North and at the new combined HS. But Broering was equally successful at South.Honestly nobody really knows. From what was said way back when the board started to target South High coaches because the talks of becoming one school was starting to surface. So they Didn’t want a South coach being the Head Coach for Football or Basketball. So they hired Robinson(Former North Coach) then hired South JV Basketball Coach. So who who really knows what really happened
Springfield has speed too. I think they just overlooked Wayne and came in with a laid back casual attitude while Wayne was the opposite and wanted it more last week. These teams matchup. You'll see ...Naw they won’t. If they play again I think it will be a better game but Springfield DBs can’t match up with Wayne WRs. Way too much speed on the field.
Broering brought everything on himself. Yes politics was involved but show me a job where it isn’t involved. The biggest issue was his lack of interest in the classroom. He wanted to coach but he didn’t care about the teaching end of the job. Teachers were be Cut and poor teachers were being cut first.Yes, I remember those politics abour setting up the new HS. Well, what does Northmont think of his teaching abilities? He's been there a very long time. Even if what you say is true, Broering wasnt the only bad teacher at SHS that just passed everyone like a herd of cattle. I won't name names here. But trust me, I could. Here's a hint though. Three SHS teachers were arrested during my time there. The Friday before spring break, a number of students weren't at school. But, they were depicted on videotape at a woman teacher's house in what can best be described as compromising positions. The video was broadcasted on Channel 2 that same night. Broering was there at the time but he didn't get into any trouble. Trust me, he couldn't hold a candle to the others ...Broering brought everything on himself. Do you give Mukes credit for this?Despite 2 first half turnovers Wayne put up 307 yards of total offense and 43 points in the first half. Wayne defense held Miamisburg to 28 yards and scoreless. No starters on offense in the 2nd half as they would only run 6 plays and end up with negative yards. Miamisburg would score on a 12 minute drive to make the final 43-7.
Lewis was 14 of 19 for 212 yards and 3 TD's
Hunter had 4 catches for 124 yards and 1 TD
Smith 4 catches for 54 yards
Brown 4 catches 24 yards, 2 TD's... 1 carry for 32 yards and a 76 yard punt return
Miesse 2 catches 10 yards and 1 TD
Thompson had just 4 carries for 55 yards and 1 TD
Pope would also score a rushing TD.
There is not one kid in Springfield Roster that has the speed of #8 for Wayne. Not one person. That’s not up for debate. Trust me I know more than you think. Believe that. This year Springfield looks great against the teams that are majority White players but soon as they play against teams that look like them it’s a struggleSpringfield has speed too. But you forget, Douglass has built this program to win in the playoffs. The regular season isn't the same priority. Back then, I heard it was the old timers who were near retirement anyways. So, I would expect they're gone by now. But, that doesn't mean there aren't lingering attitudes from the North-South divide era. I do think the football program's success probably has helped alot. Football is a great equalizer. People can't get enough of winning, myself included. From what I heard it’s still like that today. As far as the teachers from North acting better than the former south teachers.
We shall see. Luckily the region is not that good. But you forget, Douglass has built this program to win in the playoffs. The regular season isn't the same priority. You haven't seen the finished product yet for this year's team.
There are still a lot of North high teachers there. Hell north old principal is still a teacher there. And you would think winning would cure all. Nope!! Them teachers actually can’t stand the football players. Hell any athlete for that matter. I have a kid that is a junior there and the stuff he tells me about how the teachers make things harder for athletes. Especially the Black athletes. And if you play football….its all bad.Back then, I heard it was the old timers who were near retirement anyways. So, I would expect they're gone by now. Just remember, SHS has an impressive, well documented history of bouncing back after a late season loss. Why should this year be any different??We shall see. Luckily the region is not that good.
If you have kids at SHS, then why are you called WarriorCat? And why is the Warrior part first? There are still a lot of North high teachers there. Hell north old principal is still a teacher there. Penalties and special teams has been the key for the last two fairmont victories over Springfield. You have to be disciplined playing against miller’s offense and Douglass has yet to have a team disciplined enough to do it. Always a ton of penalties for the cats. Creek is running a similar offense this year and SHS had 50 penalties last week. Only team with a better record against Springfield than fairmont during their run the last few years is in Cleveland.Fairmont @ Springfield: If you think Wayne will beat Centerville in week 10 then this game is for the league championship. Two top defenses going at it and while the CATS offense struggles the Birds does not. With the improved ability of Fairmont being able to pass the ball consistently this could be a tough game for the CATS to win. This one will go down to the obvious turnovers, field position, and special team play. I'm taking Fairmont in a low scoring game but I will be rooting for the CATS for what ever that is worth.
board.
Because I’m a Tough Cat. Nothing to do with Wayne Warriors. lolIf you have kids at SHS, then why are you called WarriorCat? And why is the Warrior part first?
Good. I was concerned you might be a double agent...Because I’m a Tough Cat. Nothing to do with Wayne Warriors. lol
You know they are still getting ready for the playoffs moe doesn’t have the team together until then. He is still developing them. In all honesty that is three straight regular season loses to fairmont so it is their late season form.Springfield is in real late season form!
