Congrats to Centerville on the GWOC championship. The ELKS played a great SMART game and deserved the win. They were the team that wanted it and they got it. #5 for Centerville was a gamer and the difference maker.
Now for Wayne. How pathetic that was. They looked like they had already won by just walking onto the field. They were not in any shape or form prepared for this game. Dropped passes. This had not been a problem this season. The only time I saw a drop pass was last week when it happened twice against Beavercreek. Last night.... 6 to 7 dropped passes. 2 of them would of been touchdowns. 2 others would of been huge gains. 1 other would of kept the drive going. The other two were just short passes that were just dropped. QB was also off. Seemed to be focused on just 1 receiver while #8 and #7 were open at times and never looked at it. Elks did get good pressure at times but other times just never looked.
Only Wayne and this coach can you have a first and goal and end up punting. Wayne has a great kicker.... kick the darn FG but instead with the starting QB out of the game they try and go for it on 4th and goal and get pre-snap penalties over and over again. During a Centerville punt the return guys and just chilling on the side line and have to run onto the field as the ball is being kicked. 30 coaches yet nobody making sure who needs to be on the field.
3rd and short and Wayne throws a 50 yard bomb. RUN the damn ball with the top back in the league and get the first down. Instead, punt gets blocked. I'm not going to single out any players and but there was one player who I would of sent to the bench and he would of stayed there for the rest of the game and likely the whole game next week. Just flat out gave up on a play and just stood there......
What was with the on-side kick. The kicker kicks the ball and half the team is still standing at the 40 yard line?
Something happened this last week during practice.... something had to have because there was no emotions or anything on the Wayne sideline. Offense was not cheering on the defense or visa versa like we have seen in previous years. This team that has more talent than just about all of the teams in SWO Ohio could only muster a 5-5 record. The cupboard is pretty bare after this season so it looks to be a quick spiral down hill for this program that has been destroyed by the current coach. Wayne is done.... stick a fork in them......
Thanks to a trick play in the last seconds of the game that gave Big Walnut a win over Galloway Westland. Centerville is set up right to cake walk into the regional finals. Meanwhile, where it would of actually benefited Wayne to lose... this result completely changes things and it will be a tough road ahead. Maybe this loss will wake this team up and maybe they can rise like the Phoenix and go on a run despite inept coaching..... I was pretty confident before but now that has faded. Not sure if Middletown can challenge Wayne but drop passes, bad snaps, and turnovers are an equalizer. These two teams did scrimmage this season so they are familiar with each other.......
Best of luck to the GWOC teams in the post season and Lets root on Beavercreek to get a week 11 win!!!!!!
