GWOC 2024

I guess 🤷🏽‍♂️. Word is the ref that made the call for the TD is the same ref that always make the bad calls against Springfield when they play Fairmont.
Maybe the ref just felt he would be deciding the game for these teams if he threw the flag. It's a real shame because Wafer made a great defensive play there to win the game. Regardless, I have faith in SHS's defense heading into the playoffs next week.

Where’s the love for the first fairmont GWOC title? I know how it is people hate to see the new kid on the block start to dominate. If it’s not centerville or wayne no one wants to admit another school is better They should be ranked at least 2 in the AP. Poll but didn’t even get a vote. I’ve been saying it all season coach miller has this team primed and ready. Now the playoffs are here and that’s what Miller focuses on. This team will start to really click now he just uses the regular season to get ready for the playoffs so it doesn’t really matter how good they did. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😉
What love? They have the same conference record as Centerville but lost the head to head battle. Centerville is the conference champion.

you have to go back and read at least four years of Springfield fan nonsense, crying, and meltdowns to completely get the joke.

Fairmont had 3 fumbles against centerville , 2 inside the red zone was leading 14-0 when they fumbled at the 12 going in for a 21-0 lead . Fairmonts worse performance all year long was that night , yet 3 turnovers and only lost by 3 . Centerville doesn’t want any part of Fairmont in the playoffs , I promise ya that

Fairmont co champs
Centerville outright champs

Outside of Centerville the only games Wayne lost they didn't have their d1 qb or his backup and had one of their best wr playing qb. What makes everyone so sure Mukes is gone

Still like Wayne’s chances to win the region more than any other gwoc team: that may keep him around as well.

Can Wayne stop the run consistently for 4 quarters now ? Pretty sure fairmont beat them by 30 in Huber
That quarterback and offense doesn’t matter if their standing on the sideline for 20-30 min of the game 🤷🏻‍♂️

I hope you are right but when that offense clicks it is hard to stop. That is the only team in the region that I worry about as a fairmont fan. The other worry is millers clock management.

The difference is that Wayne was without key players on both sides of the ball in that game including the QB. They could not hold onto the ball so the defense got no rest.

Fairfield has one of the better backs in the GMC as well as a running QB. Wayne contained them and the 1st string defense did not allow a point.

Wayne's defense has the potential to consistently stop the run or at least contain it between the 20's. Fairmont though was gashing Wayne for 7 yards at a time and no adjustments were ever made on defense. Coaching is the only thing that keeps Wayne from reaching the finals. I actually thought a healthy Wayne team cruises to the state semi's with little resistance but after last week for some unknown reason the WR's could not catch the ball. When the offense goes 3 and out the defense struggles.....

The possible 2nd round matchup with Fairmont was something I wanted to avoid. Too bad Westland lost in the final seconds on a trick play to set this possible game in motion.

Best of luck to the GWOC teams.....

Well, what's your excuse for last Friday? Why didn't your team show up and play the way they did against SHS? How is that the HC's fault? Centerville wanted it more, period...

Weird, I made a joke about 22 year old Hattians playing for Springfield and it disappeared. Did I hit on something that may be true? We were all focused on the transfers and it has been over age foreign men making SHS football better this whole time. Makes sense, their arrival coincides with this SHS run. :stirthepot:

Fairmont scored a touchdown with 58 seconds left in the game to make it a 3 point game. I think Centerville felt pretty comfortable at the end.

I graduated from Centerville but my kids go to Fairmont. I root for them to win every other game besides Centerville. Many of the Fairmont coaches came from Centerville so their turnaround over the past several years can be attributed to a Centerville background. My question is this. Fairmont completed 7 passes for over 200 yards in that game. Could they do that again? I doubt they average more than 2 passes per game and pretty sure they played multiple games this year without throwing any passes.

I think all those 200 yards passing were in the first half. The Elks defense was leaving the receivers wide open. And then near half time, Miller went conservative and quit passing the rest of the game. Passing is not in his DNA. You might see more passes again, but I would think Farmont would be playing from behind by more than a touchdown. Good luck to the Firebirds. It would be nice matchup to see them and the Elks in the regional final, maybe at Welcome Stadium.

I have said this before about Fairmont's passing. They are using actual QB pass plays. Not the trick plays they used in the past when they had to do them. They are also passing in unexpected situations. Not a lot of passes but the passes are more designed and go for decent yardage. One thing no one has mentioned from the first matchup with Cville is the play calling and clock use at the end of the first half. They may have been able to get a FG in that situation.

Yes, it was a head scratcher right before halftime where Fairmont ran the ball and wasted a lot of time when they did not need a lot of yards to get in field goal range for their decent kicker. I think they still had timeouts to use too.

I mentioned it above in another post clock management is a downfall of Miller. It's like he panics when it gets to 2 minutes.

I would agree , great coach , great man but some of his clock managements at end of half’s and games AT TIMES are odd. Have seen him manage some good game winning drives with the triple too though

Yeah and I think that’s what makes it so frustrating.
