Central Buckeye Conference (CBC) 2023

No doubt a team effort. Our skill players were certainly the difference but when the Chiefs needed to sit on that lead they played power football. 200+ yards rushing with two backs scoring TDs. London knew it was coming and couldn’t stop it. Boys up front heard the chatter and answered the bell.

Never much talk when the Chiefs win. Sure was a lot of “experts” on here when we were running clocked. I’d say those trench players held up just fine tonight. Awesome win Chiefs. Ol Rolling Train, Hard Head and the like are choking tonight.
I love a humble winner. I for one have probably picked the Chefs to win 11 or 10 games this year. You shouldn't take things so personally as opinions are just that and not self defining as an expert. Did not see the game but it is obvious the line stepped up and did their job to beat a very good London squad...now, transfer that to next week.

It was a decent game by both teams, London’s run is pretty much unstoppable but they of course were one dimensional with very few passing attempts. Bellefontaine had its way with London’s secondary and Fogan had probably his best game of the year running. The difference maker was a couple lost fumbles that the Chiefs recovered and London not being able to convert on 3rd downs against the Chiefs D-line.
The unsportsmanlike calls hurt both teams, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen so many in one game.

Now to push forward and focus on next week, Granville and Bellefontaine have only meant 2 time's that I recall.

2022 Granville 25 Bellefontaine 20

2017 Bellefontaine 55 Granville 28

It’s simple, act like you’ve been there.

I’m curious as to what year you graduated. I’m assuming you played for Coach P?

Hey, lay off and let em live. He's just excited for his team and wish more people were passionate about their school programs. Some programs it's a big deal to make the playoffs and they make t shirts..... some programs winning 2 playoff games is a massive accomplishment so you may have to excuse the giddiness of some even if it comes off as vindictive, childish and desperate for attention.

And some people post 25,000 posts online about their old HS glory days but until a couple token posts recently act like their step sons teams don’t exist. That’s right to each his own. Put your phone down and be there.

I’m gonna offer you a truce voice. I’ll log off and focus on me and mine. We got a big week this week. You do the same. Lay the phone down and be there for your gang. Take care. It will make the world a better place.

Holy cow, can we in the words of Rodney King, "...all get along?" Thavoice is a staple to Yappi and I would hope he does not put down that phone and not post. He is amusing and many times accurate in what he says but ultimately he stirs the pot of discussion, WingTFan, we get where you are coming from as a Chef SUPPORTER but you refuse to support those that support you. WTF?!? I hope your individualism is not what is being pushed.

I would have bet my third nut and won that you would start a Bellefontaine and Granville thread. Again, don't take shizz so personal. The CBC faithful are all in with Bellefontaine and Shawnee. Join the group...

Seems like a lot of bad blood between those two. Wonder exactly what the whole back story is? 👀

I would have played for Coach P but due to unfortunate circumstances my last year playing was as a freshman. I actually started my football career playing for WLS along with about 7 others from Bellefontaine way back in those elementary days.

Now back to this weeks action.

#7 Shawnee vs #6 Wyoming @ Miami Valley Hospital Sports Complex(Trotwood) - One common opponent I see is Madeira.
Shawnee 35 Madeira 7
Wyoming 20 Madeira 28
I know I know it’s the playoffs throw those games out but….

Shawnee is tough and clicking on all cylinders at the right time. I’ll keep this short and sweet
Shawnee 35 Wyoming 21

#7 Bellefontaine vs #3 Granville @ Bowles Field(London) - Revenge week, I know in the playoffs you can’t ever put yourself in a situation where 1 play makes the difference but for 374 days as of today the Chiefs have not forgot about that 1 play. I don’t foresee that being the problem this year. You know how I like it, always out on a limb 😂

Bellefontaine 42 Granville 32

Good luck to both CBC teams this week 🤙🏽

Good post Dude. I like both CBC schools pushing into the regional finals and I pray they can make all the doubters of this conference eat a healthy bag of shizz. (y) (y) (y) (y) (BTW, I learned these emojis from you:ROFLMAO:)

You really do some better intel, pal.
Don't believe I have spoke much at all about my ole glory days but if that is how you see it then, well, that is fine with me.

I accept your truce, plus I have too much work ahead of me to keep poking the bears.

Gooodluck to you and yours. I know y'all been looking to this year for quite awhile now and it is fun when the team is playing its best at the most important times of the year. I believe with the ultra talented RB and newfound physical nature of the lines will serve the team well this week and, Inshallah, a matchup with tUBW next week.

If the weather cooperates I think I'll make the trip to London Friday. Good luck Chiefs!
The last time I was there for a playoff game (Hartley/Alter) the gate keepers made you choose which side you would sit and enter through that respective gate (home to the left, visitors to the right). I chose Hartley and it was a great time had by all, love those fans....not into the Kettering we are better than everyone else snubery, lol

Anyways....always a bit breezy at this place but great venue to see a game in "central" Ohio! You will not be disappointed with the venue, eats or game. London is top notch, IMHO... The game should be all that it and a bag of chips

GO CHEFS!!!!

I almost forgot this thread existed but I will carry on until we have the last man standing. The CBC has gotten a lot of criticism in the past of not being very competitive..."terrible conference" but here they are with two teams in the regional semis and legit shots at the region finals. I suspect there to be several All-State kids coming out of this conference and for good reason...there is some good football and good players.

Bellefontaine and Granville - the "Greg Brady" picture game (shout out to Thevoice for that)....and funny as hell. I love how the Chefs came out last week to flip that earlier loss to London. That says a lot about the character of a team. Granville and their Kansas State looking uniforms and hard nose football will be another huge test. If revenge is a dish best served cold, then this should be a very frosty dessert. I will take the Chefs in a high yardage, low scoring game 21-17.

Shawnee and Wyoming - Lets play Cowboys and Indians or should I say Guardians 🤦‍♂️ again. The common opponent is Maderia with the Braves blasting them and the Cowboys getting by them but throw that out. These games were in the early weeks and the teams have changed and gotten better. There is a lot of film on line of Wyoming and they have some impressive kids. I like their defense, especially the run stopping defense and that will be an issue for the Braves. The Braves have their own power defense and have clocked at least nine teams this year before letting the JV take over. However, this is the regional semis and they will have to play 48+ minutes this week. Two quality RBs meeting two quality run defenses..,who can pass the best will take this one. I am keeping with my common prognostication and undervaluing the Braves (good for them, since I am usually wrong). Wyoming takes this one in double OT, 42-38.

For my heart health I'm hoping Shawnee clocks Wyoming. But I am smart enough to know its a close game. Hope Shawnee has a 2ish score lead in the 4th.

I was at London for the game last week. The atmosphere was electric and was one of the best games I have seen this season. I highly recommend making the trip this Friday if you have not experienced a playoff game in London. Facilities are top notch.

Pulling for your Braves but not seeing a clocker this week. IMO, I don't think the Cowboys have seen the aggression and anger the Braves bring to the table; however, the Braves are going to need to play a full game without PENALTIES to move on. This will be an outstanding game and if Shawnee wins, there will be others in the state taking notice.

Enough for making noise and now is the time to kick the door down! Go Braves!!!!

obviously looking ahead way too far.. HOWEVER, how awesome would it be to see Meeks end his career at STATE? maybe even against Ginn-ville.
There is a lot of grass to cut and bag. Wyoming, Alter/Massie and probably Steubenville before the Tarblooders. This road looks more bumpy than the one in 2011.

it is a tough road but by no means impossible.. if the Braves win friday i will favor them vs Massie/Alter. Steubenville.. great program, not as dominant as they used to be.. would give the Braves a real chance in that theoretical game..

Shawnee is a really good team. I think they can win this week. But then it is going to be ROUGH moving forward. They have proven they belong in the race, but definitely a long shot.

I think Ginn-ville is going to be unmatched. Look at there losses, 3 to GREAT teams. IMG, enough said (only game they were "kind of" not in). Hoban (D2), enough said. Avon lake (D2), enough said. They might not let up more than 10 points a single game during the playoff run. Anything can happen, but likely, everyone is fighting to get to the ship, not win it.

Bellefontaine has a really good chance at winning this week. I think they beat Granville, not easily though. Then they have to get through the well oiled machine of Bishop Watterson, tough battle there.

Good luck to the 2 remaining teams!

Looking back at the 2011 team. The Braves were 10-0 going into the post season with SCC and Urbana being their closest games.

Their playoff wins
Taft 64-8
Thurgood Marshall 20-13
Alder 21-10
Elida 56-42
Lost to Cardinal Mooney 21-14 in the finals. That Braves team was something to watch. I believe SHS had the DIII OPOY.

Glenville lost to Avon, not Avon Lake.

I am a huge fan of the CBC Conference and I will absolutely be at the Chiefs/Aces game Friday. I don’t believe Shawnee will advance past this round but I will catch theirs next week if they do. I have to see this rematch though.
