2025 Cincinnati Reds Thread

So many chances to take care of that W. 1st and 3rd with 1 out--Steer taps a double play back to pitcher. Bases loaded, one out--McLain and Elly strike out. 2 run lead in the 9th--another bullpen meltdown.

Same story all year - waste a fine pitching start...

I'm sure it's out there, but I want to find the Starting Pitching unit with the best stats (ERA, WHIP, K/BB, FIP), that did not make the playoffs. I would bet a good sum of $, this Reds Staff will beat those stats.

The years-long theme of the Reds offense getting utterly shut down by a playoff-caliber pitcher continued last night. A four-hit slumber party of a shutout.

Almost blew an 11 run lead and were out hit despite scoring 13 runs. Luckily the ineptitude seems to have limits and escaped with a win.

Lance McCullers — in only his second start since 2022 and he might well be washed — joins Kumar Rocker, Elvin Rodriguez, Old Man Verlander, Bradley Blalock and Old Man Charlie Morton in the Hall of Shame for getting lit up by this Reds offense.

(Blalock, by the way, gave up 12 ER last night in the Rockies’/Broncos’ 21-0 whitewashing at the hands of the Padres/ghost Chargers.)

Curious as to why you started Petty today, could have started Abbott. Same day's rest. White Sox are the lesser team, why not start Abbott against the Astros???

I think it's a very dangerous time for the Reds right now. This team through a quarter of the season has shown no ability to consistently produce offense. While you need an entire team effort, we've not got anywhere near the amount of production expected from Elly, McLain and Steer. If those 3 aren't leading the way for us, we'll never contend.
The pitching has been better than anticipated. Hunter Greene has been everything expected and then some. Lodolo, while has had some blips, has been solid. Singer, Abbott and Martinez has done their jobs. The bullpen was a question going into the season but overall has been really good. But this offense has been more than disappointing. Now there has been glimpses of good play. TJ Friedl has been excellent as a leadoff hitter. Jose Trevino, expected to be a solid backup catcher, all defense, little hit has played at an all star level. Santiago Espinal, career backup, has been great for the Reds. Elly hasn't been terrible, but he has stretches of strikeouts and his power has been up and down. If he's expected to be not only be good, but great, we need more from him. McLain looks lost, lots of strikeouts, not himself at all. I think Lux has been exactly what was expected.

3 with the White Sox, we're two games under .500. The division is kind of waiting around for us. Probably lucky we're not 6-7-8 games back at this point.

This is the Reds season in a nutshell. 3 game series: get shutout on only 4 hits, then score 13, then get shutout again, with 2 measly hits. Most inconsistent hitting team you will ever see.

we finally have a lineup

Of note, Matt McLain has been moved DOWN in the order. Espinal hits in the 2 hole.

Reds have been outscored 0-13 in the innings I have been in attendance. I shall not attend anymore games.
I don’t see why anyone would attend any further games at GABP this season. They are once again one of the worst home teams in baseball, and their annual roster half-measures are clearly intended to be papered over by bobblehead games, concert nights, and nights celebrating Pete Rose and the 50th anniversary of the BRM. Those promos are likely going to allow ownership to profit no matter how dull the on-field product is.

I feel bad for guys like Hunter Greene, Derek Johnson and Jeff Brantley who are actually doing their jobs at a high level only to have this franchise piss away their efforts.

My youngest wants to see the postgame concert, Train in mid August. 😢
Otherwise, I’ll be attending Y’alls games later this summer.
