2025 Cincinnati Reds Thread

Was able to take in the last two games at GABP. Very nice ceremony for Pete Wednesday night. Too bad the team just didn't show up. Pretty much the same as we've seen most of the season. Did get 9 hits for the game, but spread out and no walks so again, the inability to string together hits and get a big hit with RISP spells doom. Lodolo pitched fairly well, but the White Sox, like on Tuesday just grouped their hits together. I'm convinced Suter is no more than a PR guy and mop up pitcher for games we're not serious about winning or Tito just wants to not waste a valuable pitcher. The way major league bullpens are used today just makes me laugh. We act like guys can't pitch more than a few days in a row and we have 6-7 bullpen guys. Some guys rarely pitch.

Flip to Thursday. 3 run first inning, paved the way by Will Benson's 2 out, 2 rbi single. Maybe the biggest hit we've had in weeks. Elly, McLain and Benson all homer, Nick Martinez is great and the Reds cruise to a 7-1 win. The formula isn't tricky here folks, this team is getting good enough pitching day after day after day, the bats have been a major disappointment. I certainly hope at some point the bats get hot and stay hot. Down 4.5 games to the Cubs and this team simply can't get down much more than this. And just so everyone knows, this isn't on the Castellini family or NIck Krall. These are the guys drafted and developed, other teams would have done the same things with these guys. This is about the players on this team and their ability to go out and play to their level, not below.

What? Of course it is.

Who signs players and is responsible for the 25 man roster? Why does it only have 1 and 1/2 outfielders on it when you need 3? Who signed a failing player to a $15 million contract? Who didn't sign the outfield bat the team desperately needed? Who maintains the medical staff that can't keep players from getting injured running the bases? Who just decided to potentially nuke Chase Petty's development by bringing him up way too soon and letting him get rocked?

And... who has essentially been on record saying the don't give a flying crap about winning so long as they make a profit?

What a dipstick.

Ownership and the front office is 100% responsible for the roster. Yes, they drafted and developed Elly De La Cruz and Hunter Greene. Very good job. We also think that McLain, Steer and Lodolo will be consistent, above average big-leaguers. Well done. That's 5 out of 26.

What about the rest of this disaster?
- Candelario, Akiyama, Montas, Suter and Moustakas FA signings? Money wasted that set the organization back years. 100% on Krall.
- unwilling to spend on outfield bats. 100% on Castellini.
- no organizational depth. 100% on Krall.
 
Will be tuning in all weekend more because I hate Cleveland more than any team than caring about anything with this dumpster fire franchise. Will get my first look at how bad this team truly is

I hope you’re right @kdiamond. I despise and hate Cleveland more than any team. I would feel better if Hunter Greene and Rhett Lowder were both pitching and were healthy

GREAT call by the Reds. Sorry for the folks who planned to be there for a 6:40 start, starting an hour and a half early the day of makes it tough for the fans. But the game got in.

Of course im right .But just out of curiosity why do you hate the Guardians more than any other team? I meen they are not even in the National League . Would think there would be plenty of other teams( Cubs, Cardinals, Dodgers , even Red Sox /Yankees ) that a long time Reds fan would hate over the Indians . Im am Indians fan and actually pull for the Reds in the National League .

Because I grew up in northeast Ohio as a Reds fan and that fanbase has always had a snobby conceited attitude towards the Reds and city of Cincinnati for never winnning a World Series for at least 70 years. I always cheer for any team playing them in the playoffs including the Yankees.

My Dad grew up as a Reds fan in central Ohio. Back in his day nobody cared about the Indians in central Ohio. Once the 90s came about they were like cockroaches with their bandwagon ways

Heck just look at Yappi, the Reds have a season thread every year while the Indians only have one big thread that covers all their seasons. Many more Reds fans here than Indians
 
I went last night and I was very pleased with the start time. I get off work at 3pm so it was easy for me to get there on time. I was home by 830. I would beg the reds to start one game a weekend at 530.

Early in the season when it’s cold or not as hot, I’d be fine with a 5:10 or 5:40 start. Once it’s summer and scalding out, I feel like they could make Friday games 7:35 or 8:05 starts without issue. I also would love some early starts on occasional Saturdays, like noon or 1 pm. Those summer 4:10 games are brutal for those in attendance due to the heat, especially in seating areas with no shade. I know the Banks businesses don’t like the super early starts though, since it cuts into their pregame business.

Sundays they’re locked into starts no earlier than 1:30 pm due to MLB TV rules, so 1:40 is fine for Sundays.
 
This offense is just all kinds of bad, the team was lucky to win yesterday after being shut down in the later half of the game and cannot put up runs against this scrub Indians pitcher

No matter what happens tomorrow this Reds team is more talented than I thought. Doesn't make sense to have a record as bad as they do. IF healthy this offense is not terrible, especially if CES and Marte are playing. De La Cruz needs moved down in the order similar to what they did with Matt McClain. The bullpen has got some real fire power and we already know how dominant the SP is when (which is rare) they are healthy.

On the other end it's pretty amazing these low life clowns up in Cleveland have the record that they do. TBH the Reds have better players than them at most postions other than a few. This even goes for their closer Clase because Luis Mey is even more talented than him and Mey reminds me of Aroldis Chapman.

They need an infield bat too, nobody on their infield has hit in this series either or look all that impressive at the plate. Hoping CES can develop into that guy. Hell, they need bats everywhere. As a franchise they don't seem to put much stock into acquiring quality bats whether it's free agency or in the draft
 
Reds dangerously close to blowing this game and sweep due to taking Abbott out so early, he should have gone another inning because he was pitching very well. That bullpen game yesterday was obviously a killer to the bullpen due to the lack of SP depth. Hunter Greene is great but he's made of glass, same with Lodolo. Chase Petty isn't close to being ready and Rhett Lowder while pitching well last season has been hammered this season in the minors.

i told you tito knows how to beat the indians and u constantly question him . i thought indians would win one of 3 but reds got the sweep. are u just a miserable person 24/7?? the diamond will let you know when tito does something wrong u arent smart enough to comment on this andlike this and ah so just chill till the next episode
 
SWEEEEEEPPPPP. Reds can lose every single game but if they can beat Cleveland that year it’s a successful season in my book (shows how far the standards have fallen )

This series was so big to get a sweep because Cleveland and Jacob’s field have always been a house of horrors so the Reds need to win just one to secure the Ohio Cup for the first time in a very long time.

F**K Cleveland. F**K them forever and always

When the Reds can win a playoff series you can get back me on what success actually is in Cincinnati. Still haven’t done that since 1995
