Whatever happens, they cannot proceed with the original plan. The OL did some good things but neither RB could see down field.
If only the severely undersized RBs were tougher & grittier, then they could break through those tackles and see over the OL blocking down field. That’s the problem, just not enough grit.

Nobody thinks Elder is an underdog. They are favored in the vast majority of games they play in over Ramsey's career.

Except the games that matter. Regardless, the Offense last night was a disaster in every single phase. I just do not understand why they’re settling with that tandem of RBs. Those kids aren’t bad players if you put them in the right situation but they will never be every down Backs.
I made a big deal about Re returning bc they needed a WR to stretch the field but that won’t matter if they have zero run game.
The OL was ok, but not where you’d want them to be. Neither QB was particularly impressive.
The Front 7, especially DL, was impressive. This is the deepest DL Elder has had in all of the yrs, I’ve been watching them. They go 7 deep. The LBs had good closing speed and tackled very well. They didn’t give up any big plays on the ground.
The Secondary was meh. They got burnt on LW’s TD. Whomever the Safety was got caught flat footed on a deep Dig/Crossing route and was trailing the LW WR by a few yards. It was rough to see.

Omar, thanks for all the information about this years team. If they don't win a state championship, I don't think I could bear it. I would be crushed and really see no reason to carry on.

Where did I ever say it was state title or bust? To be very frank, they’ll be lucky to go 5-5. This is not a good Offense and probably won’t get much better by the time the season gets here. The Defense will be very good vs the run but still not good enough to prevent big plays vs good passing teams.

It exists within reality. Big underdogs aren’t winning 99% of the games.
I have no idea how anyone could’ve seen last night’s scrimmage and not come away worried about the Offense. On the rare occasion either QB actually got throw the ball, neither looked confident in the pocket. One has a very limited arm, the other is too short to see over the OL. The OL has size but doesn’t move very well. The RBs have already been discussed. I couldn’t even tell you about the WRs bc they only threw about 5 passes.

Elder doesn’t recruit like other school so there’s no expanding the talent pool like your saying Elder has always been the under dog and has always played with grit over skill it’s not the lamest description on all of sports when it’s the model it’s the student athletes live by and play with and it will work #uno out

I’m tired of the recruiting excuse, it’s a massive cope. The possible starting QB is from south Lebanon. The QB 2 yrs ago lived in Okeana. Hell, kids from James, Ignatius and Oak Hills middle schools is expanding the talent pool. F**k grit. Expand the talent pool, talent over grit, height over heart. All of this talk about being the underdog is lame.

I believe he played for Visi but went to OH middle school. Arnold went to OLV for 8th grade only.

at a restaurant last evening and i thought the world was coming to an end. A table of Elder honks were blasting the dwellers on ebenezer rd b/c they are charging admission to the scrimmage on thursday evening. I heard it was $5. if thats too much money then don't go lol. the HC uses that money to feed the kids on the team who need some help. it was an unbelieveable conversation i heard lol. if i remember correctly, they charged the last scrimmage as well. thank the ohsaa for allowing this to happen.

It’s not about breaking anyone, they only do this because they know Elder will bring more fans than the home team. That’s my issue.
If they want to do a fund drive for food insecurity, then do it the first day of school with their students (that’s at least $10K). Don’t hold Elder fan’s hostage just because they bring numbers.

What really matters is if Elder does anything to address the issues in the run game and how they handle the QBs. It wouldn’t shock me if they were rotating QBs into the start of the season.

This is like the ‘21 OL issue in that it’s apparent right away, even in a scrimmage.The current RB have value in the Slot or on 3rd down. However, to rely on them as your main Backs just doesn’t make sense. This isn’t like the OL in ‘21 in the sense, you can’t swap guys in and out to patch up the issues. You have athletes that can get you good production at RB.
