2024 Elder Football

You said we have a big young guy 6’2! Can he run? If so.. you got last yr rb.. fast! I think both rb’s are back aren’t they?? Not many fast like flowers but those guys are good! Not a lot of 4.4 around… Moeller won’t have that and neither will st x or LaSalle
Their rbs willl be tough though! Ours our as well!

The other possible RB is the Soph Gaveay Craig. He has massive potential but was still really raw last yr. If he was able to become a more polished RB in the offseason, that would be massive for Elder.

The ‘04 class had a lot to do with it, including Glathaar and Florian. It was also 20 years ago.
Got it. Freshman teams are different now and there's definitely correlation between freshmen success and success on Friday nights.

Why dont we just have playoffs for freshmen and JV then since it's so important?

As far as Uran being injury prone I wouldn't call playing week one with Mono and then it lingering all year being injury prone. Its also not rocket science to understand the best players need to play a little both ways especially when the weather breaks and cools down. Maddox getting a short yardage carry, Brayden rushing the passer in a big passing down, Uran running a reverse, taking the top off a zone or returning a punt. The top programs allow their best players to help out on both sides and I believe Coach Ramsey understands that. 100% one way and 25% on the other side of the ball is not out of the questions for Div1 athletes. Scheme is important but the players are the most important aspect. My prediction is the Panthers play better than many of the expectations here and will have a great season.

They were great HS players, but not enough to get over the hump vs Moe or West. Again, Elder isn’t far off when you add that level of talent with just 1 or 2 high level skill players. The added athleticism on the edge/boundary changes everything.

Elder should have beat LW. They were an overall better team. The problem with Moeller was Elder didn't have enough speed on defense to stop Moeller's fast skill players. Elder 2023 was very good.

The DL is where I think they’ll be very good. The twins, Broxterman, Binion, Kittles. Is McKenna moving to DL too? They’ve got depth there. And they should be undefeated going into Eds, that’s not a particularly high bar.

You’re also way too close to the players to be objective, I can tell by how you post, you’re a student.

Yappi has this cool feature called Conversations where you 2 can message back and forth to each other.

I got Elder at 7-3 hosting 1, hopefully 2 playoff games.

The biggest question I think heading into the season is the offensive line. They have to replace 4 starters. A RB is only as good as his offensive line.

If not for Bauer, Bujnoch, Anevski, Wolf, Poland, and Carviti, they were incredibly mid. That’s 6 guys that were difference makers.

No, they shouldn’t have.

No, they shouldn’t have.

I thought you were more knowledgeable than this. LW was good not great. They had no offense. In 3 games against X, Princeton, Moeller they scored a total of 3 points. Elder has the better overall team, and yes they should have beat them.

They didn’t have a great offense but their D held E to under 100 yards rushing.

Arling at Fb? Thamann and Meyer Rb? Paff? Roden? Boeing? List goes on
Thaman & Meyer are not big enough to be every down Backs. Paff has no history of making big plays. Boeing is a traditional TE that doesn’t get many passes thrown his way. I don’t believe Roden is the best QB in the competition.

Elder fans need to compare the skill talent to the better teams on the schedule, not what constitutes skill talent for Elder.

Elder has never had great talent. Where talent lacks grit fills in. And it is not easy to rule out the talent of any one of those players it’s too early and most of them haven’t had the snaps to show anything.

cringe overload. And the guys you listed are Seniors that have either started or gotten decent PT. I’m not knocking them, I wasn’t even good enough to start in grade school, much less start at Elder. However, it highlights the need to expand the talent pool.

He's just saying Elder makes up for a lack of talent in other ways. It's not hyperbole, it's just a fact. It's what I mean when I say Elder should have beat Lakota West. Elder was an overall better team. Lakota West had higher end talent, but Elder was the better team.

It’s cringe af. Expand the talent pool, grit is overrated. That’s the lamest bs description in all of sports.

How about you get a life and don’t live and die with Elder football.

I love Elder more than you, but I’m not kicking my dog every time they lose a game.

Grit is definitely not overrated. Grit wins games, and a lot of them. If it wasn't for grit, the teams with the most talent would always win every game, and we'd might as well crown the team with the most college recruits as state champ each year. But that's not how it goes.

Grit matters more than talent. It allows you yo punch well above your weight class. Grit matters almost as mug as coaching does. You will see grit in action week one against a Withrow team that most likely has more talent on paper, definitely more speed, but Withrow's lack of grit will work in Elder's favor. I don't expect the game to be all that close.

Grit means nothing without talent. Nobody wins titles bc of grit. So tired of this board undervaluing talent.

And how valuable has that grit been vs Eds, Moeller, West? Grit is a lame buzzword for fanbases that need to cope hard with disappointment.

Is this a life board or an Elder board on a site dedicated to HS Sports?

Those teams also have as much or more grit than Elder.
