2024 Elder Football

It is in writing by the ohsaa. "Schools may charge for scrimmages".
EHS2001 is correct. OHSAA used to say no charge for scrimmages.

Again, nobody is talking about what really matters. OH could legitimately “win” this scrimmage. Elder’s Offense has to make enormous strides from last week.

No good coach goes into a scrimmage wanting to win. They use it to work on things for week 1. You’re clueless.

People will complain about anything, I swear lol if $5 is that big of a deal to you, "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" and get a 2nd job or something. Who cares

Win a scrimmage? So what? It's like the Bengals losing a pre-season game. Does it matter?

I'm going to go on record as saying it's silly for oak hills (or anyone) to charge for a scrimmage game. If you are trying to raise money sell food/drinks and take collections at those booths like they do at UC games.

I'm retired. I thought about taking my grandsons since it's right up the street but I'm not shelling out $25 for a scrimmage game. Seems like we are being nickeled and dimed to death these days.

It does when it’s the 1st string playing. After that, it doesn’t matter.
It doesn't really.

Good coaches use scrimmages to work on little things, trying someone out at a new position, trying new wrinkles in your scheme. I used to put my players in purposely bad situations during scrimmages to 1. See how they'd respond if such a thing happened in a game 2. So the players get to know the strengths and weaknesses of our scheme.

Winning a scrimmage means nothing.

That’s not what happened last week. This team is going to struggle on Offense, mightily. I’m not sure they’ll convert a single 3rd/4th & Short. Not to mention the issues in blitz pickup trying to take on a LB is a losing battle. Ramsey was upset with one of them for not being able to read off a block, but neither can see downfield past the OL. Their vision is completely obstructed bc of their height.

The coaches don’t owe the fans any kind of explanation but I don’t understand why they aren’t trying new personnel at RB. Willig at 6-2 is taller than you’d want, but you have to make some sacrifices.

The OL is also not without blame. They appeared to have decent size, but they were slow off the ball. Scott was the only one who seemed to be having a good scrimmage.

I was at the Elder vs West scrimmage 3 yrs ago and even that offense with the weak OL, moved the ball vs a loaded West Defense. The Elder Defense scored the only TD for Elder last week. The 1st team Offense only had a handful of plays that went for 5+ yards.

As bullish as I am on the front 7, the Secondary is a concern. Lammers was the best pure DB (excludes Uran) in the Jr class and he’s not playing. I’m not sure who the Corners were, maybe Postel & Turner or Shavers. They did fine. The TD pass was the fault of the FS. But they don’t have much depth at Corner at all.

Elder will be fine, Omar needs to stop freaking out. I’m not concerned, Ramsey and company are one of the best in the state and they’ll play their best hand with the cards they have been dealt.

I was at the X scrimmage and they looked rusty too which is normal for the first scrimmage.

That wasn’t rust. It was the RBs being undersized to the point where they were getting tossed around like rag dolls.

Ok coach… I enjoy having you on here since you know so much more than everyone else including the coaching staff. Great stuff.

I’ll find another team to root for this year since it’s over for Elder. First it was Re (but he’s on the team) and now it’s the RBs. On Saturday it’ll be the Oline and during the season it’ll be the DBs.

There, I saved you a whole season of crying.

What’s to know? It was apparent to everyone who saw the West Scrimmage.

Looks like there were a few guys seen as potential starters not on the team this year. Cowans, Lammers, and Harmeling. Not sure if transfered or quit. A few sophs I expected to dress aren't dressing. Craig, Anderson, Rosenacker, Willoughby.

Omar why do you only criticize Elder Football? Do you not have any hope for the kids? Also, you are damn near 40 years old, and you spend your whole day talking trash about a bunch of 16-18 year olds. Go find yourself a woman you big virgin because I know you have never been with one before.

Give it a rest already. You made your point and said what you think. We don't need to read a million posts about what you think of the offense. You're getting worse than Trey. This isn't healthy and you can save your reply, because it is very predictable what you will say. We've heard it a million times already and it's not even week 1. You are free to say what you want to an extent, but the moderators will take of it eventually if it gets worse or continues.

Cowans I believe was due to medical reasons. Lammers is sticking to baseball only. I do not think Harmerling is at Elder any longer but I could be wrong.
In terms of the Sophs that are dressing. It is obvious there are depth issues at LB and TE- I would think that the kids you mentioned are other skill positions where they feel confident with their current depth options.

I don’t only criticize. Did you miss where I said this is the most talented & deep DL I’ve seen from an Elder team, maybe ever?

I’m not trash talking. I’ve made it clear I would never have been good enough to play at Elder. And I’ve also made it clear the players you think I’m trashing, have value. They’re just not in a role that fits their skill set. Unlike 3 years ago when the OL was a major issue, there’s more options to help patch up the issue.

I won’t be turning 40 until the current Freshmen are in their last semester Senior year. Yeah, I guess I’m close if you round up, but I’ve still got a while. And finally, you know I’m not a virgin, you were in the room with me & your wife. BTW, I want that video. I like to analyze my technique like hitters in the MLB.

Harmeling is at Landmark Christian now. Losing Lammers hurts. He made at a lot of plays in the Secondary. What I do find odd is Selle came back and is now a DB. He was one of the better Defensive players as a Frosh at OLB/Edge.
