Who will be Ohio’s Mr. Football

I took a couple of days to watch some games from the players on this string that I don't know, to compare with those I'm familiar with. Here are my takeaways:

3) Kinsey is a very, very good RB. I watched the Garaway and Dover games, since those were mentioned.
Where did you find the Dover vs. Indian Valley game? I couldn't find it anywhere.

Drew Pasteur has Lima Senior at #44 in D2 which is more realistic.

They have nearly the weakest schedule in D2 so that probably disqualifies him in the eyes of the voters.
Agree. I just think he should be in the conversation. I don't care what the competition is, those stats are crazy. We'll see how they do in the playoffs.
Agree, most coaches feel their players deserve to play the first half of any game, right or wrong.
Yep....and it was 79-0 at halftime. No scoring in 2nd half for a 79-0 Final. The team they played, Toledo Waite, is 0-8 and part of the Toledo City League, which Lima Senior joined a couple of years ago when the TRAC and NLL merged (except for the private schools). Toledo City League, outside of Lima Sr., is probably the worst league in the state. Some really, really bad teams.

Hall QB Lima Sr leads nation in passing yards. Set all time Ohio State record with 10 TD passes in a game last week.
That is pretty cool seeing the national passing and rushing leaders both from Ohio:

And they’re both juniors!

Their coach is a big stat guy. I would say if Lima Sr was in any kind of decent conference the numbers drop by 30-35%. They play some of the worse teams in the state. I do not think they play anyone with a winning record or close to it.

Keller Moten, QB Walsh Jesuit, was 10-16 with 137 passing yards, 217 all purpose yards and 3 total tds in their 38-7 win over Brunswick.

They are 9-0 with wins over Hoban, Ursuline, and Benedictine.

Educate me..that’s funny. If you take a second and read that I said ranked and not offered. I’m sorry that your reading comprehension is at a low level, and proves the fact that you should not debate with your emotions because commonly people with low content will result to insulting the other party.
You obviously can't read. I sent you a link. I said offered and provided proof. You either obviously didn't read the link or comprehend it. No emotion involved or debate. What's to debate when I have a link?

I proved my point. You were wrong. He was offered before you thought he was. End of story. Enjoy your day.

The stats for the Lima QB definitely moves me but he not playing both sides so I still gotta go with Kinsey respectfully.

Mr. Football should be the best combination of player, leader and winner, not just stats.

Last Friday, I watched online as Walsh played Brunswick. A player from Brunswick went down in the 3rd quarter and play stopped for a long time as he lay motionless. Both teams knelt on the field near their sidelines as the ambulance came. Then, you see Keller Moten stand up, go to the refs to get permission, and then jog to the other sideline calling both teams to come onto the field together. The Brunswick players quickly jogged to him and they all took a knee on the field. You could see him in the middle saying a prayer for the downed player. He stood up at the end as both teams came together.

Then, due to numerous penalties on the drive, when play resumed it was 3rd and goal. From their own 48. So, 3rd and 52. What play do you have for 3rd and FIFTY TWO against a prevent defense with layers of defenders? You give it to your player, and Keller responded by weaving in and out for 47 yds, leaving 4th and goal from the 5 yard line. The next play, he threw a TD pass.

Everything about this points to this kid deserving strong consideration for Mr. Football. Every key play this team has had in every game as the top ranked team in Ohio has gone through him. Ursuline, Erie McDowell, Hoban, Benedictine, Ignatius, and now Brunswick. He's the backbone of one of the best teams in the state playing against some of the best competition.

Football is more than stats.

Brayden DeVito from Shelby outplayed Ohio State WR commit, Bodpegn Miller on Friday night in a match-up of two 8-0 teams. Don't get me wrong, BP was the best athlete on the field. You'll get no argument from me there. But DeVito is special. In a 50-36 win, he was 20-of-27 passing for 304 (3 TD's) and ran 25 times for 185 (4 TD's).

If that’s the case then TSC should run away with this award. Won’t find a better leader, teammate, student, or player. QB’s can be held in check by several things unrelated to their talent. His stats are still solid but not flawless. The way I view it is “what would that team (insert your team) be like without that kid”?

Are we supposed to know who TSC is?

Agree with this part of your statement fully. Which is exactly why Moten deserves the nod. Without him, there is no way Walsh would be ranked so highly and be 9-0 heading into week 10. His plays won at least 4 of the key wins against Hoban, Ursuline, McDowell and Benedictine.

So, the only thing lacking in your statement is it should be "what would the best team be like without that kid", not just what would any team. Take any team, look at what they would be without that player, and then take the best team.

They don't leave the position empty. Walsh would be fine, it would still be either them or Hoban at the tippy top of R5.. At most two loses, one of them to D3 Ursuline. Who's QBing Ursuline?

All Ohio DC Ferrell.

I get your opinion because you haven't watched the Walsh games this season. Go watch a few. It would change your mind on his importance to this team.

He's a QB. And many have that player that is really changing how that team can play. What plays they can call to how successful they are at them. They're all important. But they get replaced and in good systems, they get replaced by good players. When they are already surrounded by good players, as they are at Walsh. the team doesn't drop all that much. If at all. You really want to claim Walsh doesn't have a capable back-up?

Walsh fixed their one loss seasons before this player got to Walsh. Be about the time former Mentor coach, Alexander showed up? Took them from 1-2 win team to 1-2 loss team over a summer?

Walsh has a wide range of options for replacing any one player and they are going to be surrounded by top players. Evenm without this player, argument is strong for still undefeated or two losses at most and those against other teams clearly top of the state.. Which was the post I was calling out.

NONE of that is me saying this player shouldn't be Mr. Football. Or the QB from the lower division team that almost beat Walsh and their top player. Mostly, I'm calling out the over-selling. If posters are going to make outlandish statements trying to sell a kid, they should get called out.

By accounts of this thread, Mr. Football must have saved babies from a fire, while catching his own 99 yd TD pass. with his entire team injured that would only be 1-9 if he didn't lace them up. Helps if he's an orphan.

I’m just defending the “look at the competition they play” narrative. If you took one of the lower division kids (QB for instance), they would do fine playing better competition if their surrounding cast was adequate.

I’m from a town near Bellefontaine and I’ve seen enough of the St. Clair kid to know that he is the best player in Ohio regardless of competition.

Hypothetically speaking, if Moten got hurt and did not play this season, Walsh probably loses 3-4 games.

They don't have anyone on the roster that could step in and does what he does for the team. He is that important.

I also agree that the selling has gotten verbose.

Agree that there is some over-selling from Moneyline on this player. However, that's still pretty cool what the kid did in the Brunswick game.

That's not something you see from many high school kids.
