Why would you book an act for the biggest sporting and television event of the year in the US if nobody knows their music?

It would be like Slipknot going on tour and booking the same venues as Taylor Swift or Beyonce. It's nonsense
Why not? It’s not like most people are watching anything else. It would be a great platform

I value musical balance. The Super Bowl has been anything but that. The metal community has never been represented outside of KISS performing during the pregame in 1999. Until there is some balance I will continue to beat that drum

What is the biggest metal band/group today?

You care & that’s great, it is your absolute right. But you are most likely a minority who “beats the drum” for metal bands and the demographic you probably in is not attractive to advertisers.

Because, again, you want people with hits. You want people engaged. Apple Music's goal is to get people to their platform to stream the headliner. And the current Apple Music top chart is:

#1 Not Like Us - Kendrick Lamar
#2 luther - Kendrick Lamar & SZA
#3 30 For 30 (with Kendrick Lamar) - SZA
#4 tv off - Kendrick Lamar
#5 squabble up - Kendrick Lamar
#10 All The Stars - Kendrick Lamar & SZA
#13 Like That - Future, Metro Boomin & Kendrick Lamar
#14 peakaboo - Kendrick Lamar
#20 Money Trees - Kendrick Lamar

On the album charts it's:
#1 GNX - Kendrick Lamar
#4 SOS Deluxe - SZA
#13 good kid, m.A.A.d city - Kendrick Lamar
#16 2025 Super Bowl Mix - Mustard
#22 DAMN. - Kendrick Lamar
#41 Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers - Kendrick Lamar
#43 To Pimp A Butterfly - Kendrick Lamar
#44 SOS - SZA
#55 Ctrl Deluxe - SZA

You aren't going to get this kind of engagement if you book nobodies like Slipknot

Maybe society has fallen or, maybe you just got old and out of touch

With that said, I don’t know any of Kendrick Lamar’s songs.
Society has gotten sloppy....and dumber. We call crap like this music?

Yea...don't play that great tune with drums and electric guitars and soring vocals and harmonies...I want a good singer who talks in rhymes..that's talent.

LMAO>

And I’d guess your grandpa’s friends thought the same thing about you & your generation.

No...I really doubt that.

Never has there been a total abandonment of musicianship.

Then envoke your consumer power and simple do not watch the Super Bowl next year.

I don’t think the NFL is gonna bring in one if the musicians from Hee Haw just to appease you.

We do? Most people did not enjoy last nights performance so I’m not sure people know what they want. Only best to have a balance

Any evidence to this other than your social media feeds (which are tailor-made for your own interests?)

Social media engagement is huge, his catalog is surging on both Spotify and Apple Music, it's at 16M views on YouTube already, reviews are glowing, his face during "Say, Drake" is already a meme, etc. So it sounds like yet another you-problem

I tune in to watch the game. My only comment on the halftime is that it is too long. Halftime should be the same as during the season. I don't care who they book for halftime.

I was surprised by the final count of the poll On this thread. I figured Kansas Chief would be the favorite being the two time defending champion. Did the people who voted really believe Philadelphia would win, or were they getting tired of the Taylor Swift story and wanted Philadelphia to win like I did to change the narrative.?

I thought Philly would win. They have better talent at almost every position. I didn’t think they would win in a runaway however. I think I predicted 31-24 Eagles.

Hold on now, you criticize me before for not minding social media but then I prove you wrong about that so then you criticize my social media options? You cannot have it both ways

Some general Super Bowl thoughts, beginning with the pre game shows...

  • Gronk is killing it with ads. I didn't even know Pizza Hut was a thing anymore
  • Erin Andrews?? Not aging gracefully
  • Chrissa Thompson! I remember when she started doing shows on the Big Ten network years ago. She's a star now.
  • I didn't watch the game until the 4th quarter and it was over by then. I'll watch a replay so I can cut through the commercials
  • Defense still wins championships. Eagles front line on offense and front 7 on defense dominated that game.
  • Note, NFL teams, stop drafting quarterbacks high in the first round. Oline, Dline and linebackers will pave the way for success. Alot of QB's can play behind great lines.
  • The Eagles clock is now ticking. They'll get alot of accolades now, but the recipe in the NFL is eventually everyone wants to get paid, so you'll see them start paring down their roster and cutting corners. Heck look at the Chiefs, they've actually been able to stretch their window because Mahome, Kelce and Chris Jones have been stalwarts. They are now getting expensive and older.
  • We bought the KC hype all year even though they could have lost 6-7 games. It finally caught up with them.
  • The whole KC / officials thing is tired. Guess what, we'll now hear the Eagles get all the calls.
  • Pro football is miles ahead of college football because you have so much more equal talent on teams.
All in all a pretty good NFL season. I think the rooting public would had liked to see the Lions get all the way though. You wonder what an NFC championship game would had looked like with the Eagles going to Detroit. This could had been the Bills year and they simply couldn't get it done. I think with the Eagles winning and the dominance of the lines, maybe teams will begin to decide to build up front rather than with the skill position guys.

What are you talking about?

There is 0 evidence to support what you said other than you consuming your own social media feed

You literally criticized me for being old and not on social media a few hours ago but were proven wrong. You then move the goal posts to my social media options of choice. Can you understand that?

The NFL is a copycat league. Teams will look at the Eagles and try to duplicate it.
Also, the 2020 draft is shaping up to be a pretty good QB class. Burrow, Tua, Herbert, Love, and Hurts

Holy Cow! A comment about the actial game...sort of. Somehow Swift keeps getting dragged into it.
