Ryan Day

Not sure what game you were watching. OSU had three more first downs, gained 40 more yards and had 1 penalty. The difference in the game were the two INT’s, in particular the first one. I haven’t seen a HC throw one lately how about you.
And a "TD catch" that didn't really survive the player landing in the end zone. Can't forget that ;)

Clever putting this thread in the HS forum. Definitely got more hits because of it. It felt like to me that the Michigan injury gave them the momentum they needed to finish the game with a W. Disappointing for Ryan Day and OSU fans. I don't think they will fire him this year. Another year or 2 then maybe. With the college playoff expanding next year this game won't have the same magnitude.
One more chance. Unless Dabo is willing to be chilly at the end of a season.

I’m good with this topic here. I never read the college football forum.
Yeah, we ran 60 "What are you Doing" threads in here over the years. It's the General Board. It's separately grouped on the index page from every high school thread. Not sure why the cry babies care at all. 🤷‍♂️

f**k I don’t want Vrabel at OSU. Vrabel sucks. Does anyone here actually watch the Titans? They are one of the worst coached teams in the NFL
Their main problems are lack of a top-line QB and being relatively bereft of talent, thanks to poor decisions like trading away A.J. Brown. They rely on an aging Derrick Henry and a past-his-prime DeAndre Hopkins as their only true threats on offense. Defensively, they traded away Kevin Byard. Other than Jeffery Simmons, I don’t see a ton of star power on their defense.

Vrabel got more out of that team than could’ve been expected in recent years, but it’s cratered this year behind a bad O line and trying to break in a new QB with few weapons. They still murdered the Bengals at the beginning of October.

Would ohio state rather have Ryan Day or Dabo Swinney?
I'd rather see Dabo give it a run in C-bus, if he's willing, than see him leave Clemson for elsewhere.

edit: It would be kind of ironic if the OSU braintrust saw it as I do - no potential "movers" but Dabo worth denying Day one more year - if the guy that broke Dabo's Clemson program, Ryan Day, has his fate in Dabo's hands.

I'd take Kirby, too, but I don't believe either man would "want" to head north at this point in life. Both are married. ;)

In hindsight we all realize they should’ve dropped Cooper long before they actually did. Winning a bunch of games is nice and all but if you can’t beat any other big program besides Penn State, your seat should be hot.

After taking time to think, I’m no longer on the wagon of “Get Day out of here.” I believe he does understand the gravity of Ohio State/Michigan, but what they’re currently doing isn’t working. Where do you find the answer to that question though. What can and what will the Buckeyes do to avenge this rocky road.

I have a hard time believing Ryan Day could get fired for losing this game too much without the eventual replacement being an "Ohio/Ohio State" guy.

Fickell, Vrabel, or Hartline (after getting some G5 HC experience). If he ends up getting fired, the replacement philosophy will be the same as when Cooper got fired.
Fickell or Vrabel sure. Not Hartline although he can stay. Never hire from within when you fire the HC.

Honestly would have some interest in Mark Stoops.

Absolutely laughable that A&M's internet goons stonewalled him from getting that job. Kentucky is a poverty football program that probably only out-recruits Vanderbilt on a regular basis among SEC schools, and Stoops has gone roughly .500 in league play over the last 7-8 with the Ohio kids that Ohio State didn't want and whatever kids he could scrabble together from Florida and Georgia after 15+ other schools had their pick of the litter.

thanks for the entertainment.....lol. funny to listen to people toot their horns about their teams, who are both gifted with great athletes. scum made the most plays in the end. both coaches had great game plans. the series was so lopsided for a while b/c scum had some bad coaching hires. Day must do something right b/c they still have a bunch of 5 stars committing? anyways, my life will not be so skewed b/c "the game" didn't end like i would've liked.

Realistically, big time recruits will still go to A Ohio State University. It's an NFL football factory.

They don't go there to play school, y'all

Players are still going to OSU, no question. Might we try recruiting more duel threat QB’s though. Look at every top team in the country, they all have a QB who can kill you with their arm and legs.

IMO, Day needs to officially hand off play-calling/OC duties to Hartline (not just ceremoniously in title to keep him around). Yesterday was yet another example of tight Ryan playing not to lose, even though they ironically never led in the game. I am now convinced that someone possessed his body during that Georgia game, because that was the outlier. And hopefully Fleming gets his pink slip at some point today. This should go without saying. It would allow them the numbers to give Laurinaitis the official title, and kill his GA tag. Lastly, Honda McCord is clearly not the dude. He made a bizarre statement this week when referring to ‘The Game’ as just another game. Lol. Brown ain’t it either. I would love to see Kienholz & Noland battle for the spot next year.

I wasn’t judging him on the front office mistakes. Purely his coaching

You need to go back and watch the Titans collapse against the Bengals in the 2022 playoffs. It was even worse than we saw from Ryan Day yesterday. His teams show up worse than Ryan’s do in big games. He would be terrible.

So 2 can't survive a loss at the end to 3, but 4 can lose to 6, and hang in ?

Interesting.
1. they were undeserving of 2.
2. The SEC is 100 times better than the Big10. So they would deserve a second team over the Big10.
3. Oregon/Washington are also deserving. And yes, the PAC 12 is a gauntlet as well. 50 times tougher than the Big10.
4. The Big10 is very WEAK. PSU is average. The suckeyes only had to play 1 really good Big10 team all year. And lost.

I know that you SEC grads are all B1G-haters, because the big 10 grads out-earn you goofs in real life and get the promotions you whiff, but you have to be reasonable. You can’t write crazy crap like that up there and expect to be taken seriously 🤷

Well your first error is I'm not an SEC grad. I am a Michigan Wolverine. And even I am smart enough to know that the SEC is a much better conference than the Big10. Anyone that doesn't realize that must have their head in the sand.

Hey cheese-deek, when Oregon and Washington join the SEC, come back and let us know. Otherwise I don’t think you have to post anymore. No one was talking about the SEC

Oh, wait…. you’re advocating for two teams from a defunct conference. You’re pretty dumb.

Read post 74. I was accused of being an SEC grad. So yes, the SEC was brought up and I responded to that. Feel free to reread the post. And yes, name calling others is always pretty classy. Nice job. Have a great day.

You were first to bring up the SEC in this exchange. Read post #73.

Good call, me..... first impressions ;)

I guess it really doesn't matter. I read posts prior to those that mentioned Clemson and other schools. Bottom line this thread probably shouldn't be in the HS threads. And I also find it amusing the number of people bashing Day. But I will back off posting anything on this thread because it really doesn't belong here and I know it is a sore subject so I will let it go. Not worth getting into it. But really: have a great day enjoy the Ohio state HS football finals next week.
