Ryan Day

Well, maybe it's time to try again after a full year of real game action.
What is wrong with the play calling? OSU avg. 33 pts. per game, 282 yds passing per game and 142 yds. rushing per game. This with a 1st year QB. The running game has to improve, running backs need to stay healthy but also better line play. However last year vs UGA top 2 running backs injured, no JSN, Stover got injured early no TE, yet OSU scored 40 pts. against an UGA team that TCU scored 7 pts. on.

For one, Day calls it too tight in big games for my liking. With the exception of that UGA game, he puckers almost every time. I'm personally not a fan. But I've been very vocal about my stance on play-calling for awhile. He rarely plays to his strengths. He feels he has to prove he's tough and physical, but his team's aren't built that way. He's not TTUN. Nor should he be with this personnel. I'd be happy if he threw it almost every down with those pieces on the outside, and a line that holds up better in pass pro. While likely in the minority, I've been consistent.

This is only true if you have your head all the way up your rear end IMO.

Makes zero sense to fire a coach for not winning enough against Michigan to just go hire some big name/hot name coach (unless it's Kirby Smart).

Ohioans or guys with Ohio State ties:
Luke Fickell
Mark Stoops
Mike Vrabel
Marcus Freeman
Brian Hartline
Matt Campbell

Unless you feel like one of those guys would do better...being a realist you need to stick with Ryan Day.

Like Mike Vrabel would leave his position with the Tennessee Titans and the miliion dollars contract. I know his cousin, trust me he’s very happy where he is.

First of all, Lloyd wanted to retire. He tried to retire after 2006 but Bill Mertin the AD wouldn't let him. Lloyd was not pushed out he left on his own accord.

Secondly, Vrable will never coach college again because he hates recruiting. He has publicly said so.
That’s that

Coop was in Columbus for 13 seasons and had a worse win percentage during his tenure than Day has. In fact Day is a percentage point for ole Urban Meyer's tenure at tOSU.

I still want to know who would be an actual replacement. No one seems to be settled on a top 3 list or even a top 1.
The question has always been, why did they keep Coop for 13 seasons?

Day is a solid coach and Ohio State would be stupid to fire him. He broke Clemson, a program that Urban couldn't beat. He also wins games he SHOULD win. Urban choked as well. Urban was a great replacement for JT because JT could not hack it post Miami in big games...such as USC, LSU, Urban Meyer Gators, and other schools.

They will prob have a new QB transfer or replace McCord. They will be fine.

If he loses to Oregon, Penn State, and/or Michigan ( even 1/3), I would question it now.

I sense is going down in Michigan after this season regarding violations and Ryan might be 1-1 vs Michigan soon.

After having a few days to digest the loss, here’s what I think. Day isn’t going anywhere so that talk is stupid, he will make changes I’m sure but that happens frequently in every program. The Buckeyes didn’t lose because of coaching. Michigan won because they made very few mistakes and the Bucks made some critical ones. That was a great game between two good teams and those type of games always come down to mistakes. That being said, JJ McCarthy played a near perfect game for Michigan, he was definitely on his game and they still barely won. McCord made several mistakes and I don’t know if he has the ability to be better at reading coverage or not panicking. Time will tell but I would say he has about a 90% chance of being the Bucks starter next year. Knowles is fine also, this is just his second year at tOSU and he has improved significantly from his first year. We Buckeye fans don’t like to lose especially to the cheaters up north but it could be worse, we could be Notre Dame fans 😂

I’ll take it. Michigan sure took it avoiding the game in 2020

Looking back though, that was the moment that Harbaugh broke the psychological cycle of Michigan losing to Ohio State. Since then, through unforced errors, Harbaugh and Holtz have been living rent free in Ryan Day's mind.

Yes, they found a loophole and definitely took advantage so props to Michigan there. Ryan Day is mentally weak so not so hard although he wasn’t wrong to call Holtz back out.

Remember the "Day" when he proclaimed putting a 100 spot on UM, then OSU would get revenge for 2021 and 2022?

He's writing checks his Scarlet and Gray ssa can't cash

cryin ryan can continue to recruit wr's. Meanwhile Michigan will continue to load up the muscle in the trenches. suckeye soft. Michigan might.
