Northwest Conference 2024

I could see Grove & Bluffton getting injuries and then all of a sudden they're fighting for 2nd. Hopefully that doesn't happen, but it would make all this back & forth look pretty pointless.
I would wish no injuries on anyone but without a doubt the depth at skilled positions isn’t even close between these two teams

I will agree on this, I do think Grove would be in the same position right now with the same expectations even without a player like Barazza, they are that deep,,,,,,,this year....

😆 , I could say all the same things about Grove..
Grove could enter playoffs 9-1 or 8-2. Grove is in a very easy region, easier than Blufftons, (and yes it's easier without Bluffton), if Grove makes it to the semis (I see no reason why they wouldn't), Canton runs through the MAC, also there are three maybe four teams in the MAC that beat Grove (or Bluffton)..and after this season Grove graduates like 20 plus guys, so there will be a drop off.
I fail to see what point you are trying to make.
And I would agree with you. Although I think Grove runs the table this year and enters the playoffs at 10-0, they could win their region, and probably should, but ultimately that's as far as they get, barring a rare but not unheard of move from the OHSAA in which they have West play East in the state semis. I think Grove has one of their better teams this year, and it still won't be enough to stop Marion Local. The NWC just isn't there yet. Honestly dropping to D7 will hurt Grove, because I do think they're good enough to possibly beat any other team in the MAC.

Bluffton already suffered a really big loss in week one, losing their best offensive and defensive lineman to a knee injury. I'm not sure if the exact nature of the injury, but I've heard it's likely season ending.

Nowhere in any interview has anyone inside of Grove's program said they are planning on playing Marion Local, or even mentioned them without the interviewer bringing it up. That is, however, their very attainable goal. Every Grove interview has been "We've been to the same level 3/4 of the last years, we're trying to reach the next step." Back in 2018-2020 you didn't hear Grove fans talk about that, but now they've been there and done that so it is the standard that they're expected to achieve.

Bluffton hasn't won the conference in the last 20 years, hasn't won the region since the 1980's, and up until last year had 1 playoff win in this century. Yet you're always on here talking about winning the league, players of the year, shutting out every team on the schedule, and playing for state.

1 team has been there and done that, the other up to this point has had 1 good year. Big difference.
Fake news

🤔 so it's only okay when Grove looks ahead, I keep hearing on interviews from Grove that they are planning on playing Marion Local in the state semis,,,so basically they are disrespecting everyone in the league and their region, but go ahead and give me another lecture about looking ahead and calming down my expectations for my team.
Still wanting on you to show me an interview where a coach/ player said they are playing Marion local in the state semi. If the media talks about it. It is not the same lol

Where at this site is there a preview show that states this? https://www.nwc-sports.com/
Here's the Zsports conference preview show that he's probably referring to. Grove starts around 1:54:00. Not one Grove coach says anything about state hopes, Marion Local, or even the playoffs.

Here's their hometown stations preview, where again, no one mentions state, playoffs, or Marion Local.

Jealousy is an ugly color wishbone

I heard it was the Sommers kid. Good O line and D lineman. Hope it's not serious for the rest of his Senior season.

My picks for this week:

Patrick Henry @ Columbus Grove: best matchup of the week, hands down. I think it's interesting for sure, but I think that Grove struggles surprisingly little against the Patriots. Grove by 21

Ayersville @ Bluffton: Ouch. This may be the softest non-league schedule this year. Bluffton has a running clock by halftime

Indian Lake @ Allen East: The Mustangs look to avenge a 28-27 last second loss last year. This is a pretty soft non-league schedule too. Mustangs win by 21.

Wayne Trace @ Crestview: The Knights looked dominant against Parkway, and got smacked by McComb. How good is Crestview? Hard to say with those two scores. But they're good enough to beat up on Wayne Trace. Crestview by 28.

Jefferson @ Paulding: The former NWC member Paulding Panthers are 2-0. Maybe. They played two awful teams and are yet to surrender a TD. Jefferson got beat by Parkway, so..... I say the defenses are featured in this 7-6 Jefferson win.

Ft. Loramie @ Covington: Ft. Loramie has played the toughest OOC schedule so far, and this week they finally get some relief. The Buccs are 2-0, but they're awful. The Redskins get into the win column with a decisive 35-14 victory.

Carey @ LCC: I'm having trouble figuring out how good either of these teams are. Carey is sitting at an unfamiliar 0-2 record, while the T-birds are coming of a slim 14-13 victory. LCC is young at some key spots, while Carey is frustrated. Could be interesting. I say LCC squeaks out another win, 21-20.

Spencerville @ Riverside: Spencerville is 2-0, but they're not good. At all. They barely beat Wayne Trace last week. Riverside isn't very good either. I say the Pirates win 28-21.

In the past Carey has been missing starters from Week 1 and 2 due to discipline reasons. I haven't heard if that's the case this year or not.

So summer shenanigans or spring qtr grades?
From what I heard from Carey fans last year it's an almost annual tradition of spring/summer shenanigans. Same thing happened in '21 when they won state, lost week 1 to a decent Hopewell-Loudon, then struggled against a 4-6 Galion team, then got all of their dudes back and started rolling teams

All bad blood aside, I did hear the win last night for Grove was very costly and they had several season ending to extended injuries. Hate to see it to any young person, especially when numbers overall seem down in football.

From what I heard fortunately neither one is season-ending

Well the Pirates made it through their unbelievably difficult nonconference schedule unscathed -it must be so rewarding to say that you r 3-0 against that competition. I mean those three teams might win 6-7 games collectively this season if they are lucky. Now no doubt Bluffton is decent, maybe even good but come on let’s not get too excited till they play someone
