Northwest Conference 2024

Not sure about running clock by the 3rd but I do see a Bluffton win although my guess is PG will make some big improvements which is normal from week one to week two. Cg v LB will be a good measuring stick for the Dawgs but everyone knows it is always tough to win anything at LB. Grove will have the overall speed advantage but LB has a slight size advantage . Grove pulls it out in a tight game

Grove in a tight one I agree. This has become a really good rivalry game with two good fan bases, stadiums, well coached teams. I look forward to this one for sometime. I believe we have more depth also which helps early in any season.

Not anything other than a few yards from scrambling. He didn’t seem like much of a runner
Agree, I don't think it is in their game plan to have him run. They wanted to put the ball into their two best players hands. They are well coached, I am sure they will improve as most teams do as season goes on. They will have a rough one this week vs. Bluffton.

Well, our Redskins are still licking their wounds from last Friday night. Put up a good fight, but Minster is the real deal. Nothing like dumping a little salt on our wounds as we now get to play Versailles this Friday. Talk about a tough way to start the season. I’m sure we will put up a good fight. I’m not sure if we can do it. But, Huge statement win and it should have not already put all the other NWC teams on notice, but still I think we can make some noise this year in the NWC.

My NWC predictions for this week!
Columbus Grove vs Liberty Benton. Be a tough one for either side. At LB. Be a close one. My Gut feeling is to take Columbus Grove in this one.
Bluffton vs PG. My First upset in the conference this week! I’ll say PG over Bluffton.
Allen East I think can get it done.
Crestview and McComb. Gotta see both of teams back in 2018. Obviously not the same teams now. But both have good track records. I’ll take the knights being at their place.
Spencerville at Wayne trace. Now that’s a haul. But I’ve been told it’s a down year for the Raiders and the bearcats are slowly improving back to their old ways. But I think the Raiders down the bearcats.
Delphos St. John’s vs LCC. I’m calling again another upset in the making. I think the Bluejays get it done over the T-birds.
I think parkway gets the Jeffcats.
I’ll be honest with my own team. I think we have a solid team but Versailles will be too much for us.
Not looking good week 2 for the conference. Hopefully I’m wrong. But we shall see what unfolds.

Why not jump in on the predictions?

CG @ L-B: I'm taking Grove in this one, and I don't think it will be that close. Dogs by 3 TDs.
Bluffton @ P-G: Another game that I don't think will be very close. Pandora always plays the Pirates tough, but they don't have the horses this year. Pirates by 2 TDs.
Allen East @ Newark Catholic: The Mustangs will see the best back they'll see all year, but that's all the Green Wave has. Close early, and then the Stangs pull ahead. AE by 10.
Crestview vs McComb: The Knights have yet to beat the Panthers, and I don't think it happens this year. McComb definitely isn't the team there were last year, but Coach Alge always has tough kids who are ready to play. Panthers by two scores.
Spencerville @ Wayne Trace: With lots of NWC teams winning on the road this week, the Bearcats decide to join the party. They'll double up the hapless Raiders 28-14.
LCC vs DSJ: By far the toughest one to call this week. I say they play through 15 OT's before the field catches on fire, ending the game in a rare tie.
DJ @ Parkway: Jefferson is not good, but Parkway is far worse. Jeffcats by 21.
Fort Loramie @ Versailles: The Redskins might enter conference action as the most battle tested team. Sadly the Tigers wear them out and go on to a 17 point victory.

You were close. DSJ XP wide left with 1:58 left in the game. LCC 14 DSJ 13. DSJ fumbled at the LCC 3 in the first half.

I don't see the pirates giving up a TD until week 10.....tell me I'm wrong
Sounds like you are giving at least some credit to Grove this year. Big improvement from last year when you kept saying how dominant the Pirates were Both teams appear to be on track for another great year-support the NWC. Grove has a big game this week hopefully getting them prepared for later on

Allen East just put up 60 points on Newark Catholic after you picked them to lose
🙄, what's your point, I have no idea on NC, just went with historical performance and at home...I wasn't the only one....
Overall solid performance for the conference, 5-3
Nice to see LCC get the win, thought Crestview would give McComb a game
Week three, getting a jump
Bluffton....another soft opponent
Crestview get the win against Wayne trace
Fort L. Brutal schedule gets the win against Covington
Delphos gets drilled by Paulding
Spencerville,,,,,,man would like to see a win here but taking Riverside
Grove,,,another tough one, but gonna take Grove since at Grove
LCC,,,,,I'm gonna go LCC, Carey seems down this year
Allen East gets win over Indian Lake, stangs appear to be flying under the radar right now
Week three conf 6-2, very successful non conference performance, hopefully we get six in possibly seven

You're wrong. I understand that you very likely have a sophomore on that team, so you're foaming at the mouth in anticipation for the Pirates to threepeat for a state championship, but be realistic. The Pirates will enter the playoffs at either 9-1 or 8-2. They are in a very easy region this year thanks to Grove dropping to D7. But even if they do make the state semis...and that's a big if...the road to Canton still runs through MAC country. And I think there are at least 3 teams in that conference who would boat race the Pirates. After this season things drop off considerably for Bluffton. Their vaunted sophomore class has a decent lineman, a good running QB, and a good RB. And that's it. You won't beat Grove with that, ever.

Overall, not a bad week 2 for the NWC.
Next week, games
Bluffton should have their Jv ready to go going into the 2nd half.
Allen East will win easily over Indian Lake
Spencerville takes on Riverside. I think the bearcats can pull this one out.
Delphos Jefferson plays old NWC foe Paulding. Panthers will be too much for the Jeffcats.
Columbus Grove plays Patrick Henry. I’ll have to take Grove since it’s a home game for them and they got some things rolling for them right now.
Fort Loramie will finally gets its first win vs Covington
Crestview will bounce back with a win over Wayne Trace.
LCC and Carey. Carey is in a down year, but they are always a hard nose, physical team and they will give LCC all they got. But the T-Birds will get it done.

😆 , I could say all the same things about Grove..
Grove could enter playoffs 9-1 or 8-2. Grove is in a very easy region, easier than Blufftons, (and yes it's easier without Bluffton), if Grove makes it to the semis (I see no reason why they wouldn't), Canton runs through the MAC, also there are three maybe four teams in the MAC that beat Grove (or Bluffton)..and after this season Grove graduates like 20 plus guys, so there will be a drop off.
I fail to see what point you are trying to make.

I would wait to see what happens when Bluffton plays a team with a pulse before I start counting wins and shutouts. You have to make it through consecutive weeks of LCC, Crestview, Ft. Loramie, and Allen East before you can even think about Grove. And then there's no guarantees in the playoffs. There's some teams called Hopewell-Loudon, Huron, Carey, and Patrick Henry sitting in R22 all chomping at the bit since they saw that Grove wasn't there.

🤔 so it's only okay when Grove looks ahead, I keep hearing on interviews from Grove that they are planning on playing Marion Local in the state semis,,,so basically they are disrespecting everyone in the league and their region, but go ahead and give me another lecture about looking ahead and calming down my expectations for my team.

I mean, it seems like people been saying that the last few years since 2020 or even before that. Not sure. “Oh Grove loses a lot. Blah blah blah They will be down next year” and some how they keep on doing what they’ve been doing. Right now it’s jealousy. it seems like, that Grove has the “culture” you Bluffton fans are drooling to have. Success breeds success. Bluffton has 1 great year and you think you’re world beaters. I’ve never seen a fan base talk some much crap about a team that has own them for ever how long it’s been. I’m not sure. Someone here does it bet. Then Grove just continues business as is. Year after year after year.

I’ll sit here and wait until you find me a quote from a player or a coach after a game saying. “Oh I can’t wait to play Marion local. lol. Media/ Talk from fans doesn’t count.

Nowhere in any interview has anyone inside of Grove's program said they are planning on playing Marion Local, or even mentioned them without the interviewer bringing it up. That is, however, their very attainable goal. Every Grove interview has been "We've been to the same level 3/4 of the last years, we're trying to reach the next step." Back in 2018-2020 you didn't hear Grove fans talk about that, but now they've been there and done that so it is the standard that they're expected to achieve.

Bluffton hasn't won the conference in the last 20 years, hasn't won the region since the 1980's, and up until last year had 1 playoff win in this century. Yet you're always on here talking about winning the league, players of the year, shutting out every team on the schedule, and playing for state.

1 team has been there and done that, the other up to this point has had 1 good year. Big difference.

I could see Grove & Bluffton getting injuries and then all of a sudden they're fighting for 2nd. Hopefully that doesn't happen, but it would make all this back & forth look pretty pointless.
