When was the feed mill built? Or is there but just out of the picture?
Mill is way further north than the original school site. Some overhead shots from 1956. I tried to remove the watermark best I could but didn't want to take a bunch of time on this for no other reason.

Mill is circled, original school site marked with a star.

Also threw in an overhead shot of the St Johns school/field.

Also - There's not a LOT of info on early football teams of New Bremen but they had football as early as 1910.

Here's pics of the NB teams of 1910, 1911, and 1913. (years are on the football)

Those early NB teams led a few of the players to go on and play at The OSU. Copying and pasting a few posts I put on Facebook -

The 1917 Ohio State Buckeyes football team represented Ohio State University as a member of the Big Ten Conference (then known as the Western Conference) and the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) during the 1917 college football season. Led by fifth-year head coach, John Wilce, the Buckeyes compiled an overall record of 8–0–1 and outscored opponents 292–6. Ohio State had a record of 4–0 against Big Ten opponents, winning the conference title for the second consecutive season.
On November 17th, they played their last conference game. OSU's news publication, "The Lantern", bid farewell to 11 seniors and had this to say about New Bremen's Richard Boesel, who was All Big Ten at Fullback that year..
"Bucking Dick" Boesel
"Bucking Dick" Boesel has been noted for his battering-ram plunging into opposing teams' lines. At this he is an expert. But "Dick" serves the team in a way that most people overlook. Boesel is a hard interferer. On long runs by other members of the backfield, Boesel has been a big factor in sweeping aside would-be tacklers. When "Dick" puts out his shingle in New Bremen, his home town, he will long be remembered as a tower of strength in Ohio State's football progress.

Theodore Tangeman played in 1900. Ohio State won 8 games and held Michigan, then a perennial power house, to a scoreless tie. This was the first tie between the two eventual rivals. Tangeman played along with L.W. StJohn, who would return to Ohio State as the Athletic Director. St John's Arena was named in his honor.

In 1910, Steve Boesel was a 2nd year letterman as a Tackle for the Buckeyes. He was known to have a way of "bowling 'em over". In 1910, they held the Wolverines to a 3-3 tie, the 2nd tie between the teams.

In 1916 and 1917, Dick Boesel was the Fullback for Ohio State. In the backfield with Chic Harley, the Buckeye squad became the 1st team to win the Western Conference (now known as the Big Ten/B1G). The excitement from this squad was so high that a new stadium was needed. That's when OSU's current stadium was built, which was nicknamed "The House That Harley Built".

The mill was probably built in the mid 1800's, it's just out of the picture.

Couple additional pictures of Steinerville over the years. 1963 MS 2 shows another view of the old FB field looking from the west. Some one shared an interest in the location of the feed mill. 1963 MS 4 shows it in the center of the pic. The fields in the lower right are now the FB field and elementary school. MS Grain 1920117 shows the feed mill from the south in 1920. ML S 15 shows the campus as it was in 2015. The feed mill is in the top right corner. It was since torn down and a new one built. Also major construction (not shown) taking place at the school south and west of the elementary. New gym (Whoo Hoo!) and more than a few classrooms.

Any news of FR hire? I keep hearing rumors Circle from PW and Minster is in the running. Also heard Zach Sudhoff from CW is a potential candidate.

Well i believe the deadline was yesterday so I imagine sometime this week they'll go through all the applicants and set up interviews. Unless Jake Circle got sober and showed that he learned a lesson, I'd stay clear of him. Sudhoff would be interesting but he teaches at his alma mater and lives here. Unless he has head coaching aspirations, I don't see it.

Very true about Cricle haha. Didn't know that about Sudhoff. My source is suspect then lol.

I'd be shocked if anyone touched Circle with a 10 foot pole.... 5-10 years from now? Maybe. Barely one year after he got very publicly fired for some serious problems? You'd have to be nuts to do that, regardless of whether or not he's learned his lesson and grown up already

Im sure it depends on the program, but i'm curious how many put in for the average HS coaching job. 5? 10? 20? 50? Surely this one has more than 5..

I would think a MAC job no matter the current standings of the program would get a lot more attention than any average small school job in the state. A teacher/coach might want the job just to get into the school system and community, regardless of how well they do on the field

depending on the job or situation it can be between 20 and 40.

I’d say they’d be… jerks 🤷🏼‍♂️

wasn't he out for some games this season? what was the injury, and how many games did he miss?
I know he missed at least 2 full games and when he came back he did not do kickoffs anymore. It's a lingering hip flexor issue. I can't remember if it needed surgery after the season to correct or not but it was definitely painful.

Anyone have the MAC schedule for next season?

so anyone of a list of which schools still have week ONE open in the State of ohio?

I wonder if Marion Local will have to look west again into Indiana to find a week 1 because none of those listed look to be viable options for them either because of travel (I know they traveled far last year, do they want to do it again) or size. Is Findlay vs. Marion Local remotely possible?

No way Findlay would agree to that. Would be a pretty bad look for them and the NLL for them to get beat by the Flyers.
I don't necessarily disagree, but how much different is it than Bowling Green losing badly to a subpar Otsego team or beating up on a bad Fostoria team. OR Napoleon losing to Liberty Center. Is it just a bad look because they're DI?

Huge difference. They're D1 and want to act like they're one of the best athletic programs in the NW part of the state. Losing to a D7, even if it is Marion Local, would be vastly different than an average D3 or D4 losing to a good D5 team.
