Apparently none of my options will work because they traditionally schedule inner city dayton schools to start but I wouldn't be opposed to any small school power or even some dayton schools. We could go back to Indiana and do an Indy Lutheran. Maybe Linton will make the return trip this year.Who do ML fans want to see added? I would think Ironton for one, since they been been surreptitiously mentioned (haha). Others?
On a semi-related note belated congrats and credit to Kirtland and Indian Valley for coming to terms.
I’ll trust our coach and AD to find a good opponent. Another thread (Interesting Matchups) mentioned that Indian Valley is playing Green in week one next year and not Kirtland.Who do ML fans want to see added? Whatever. They’ll win 42-0 against a horrible team that’s hours away and they will get praise and they’ll look like they have pussitis for not scheduling Ironton.I’ll trust our coach and AD to find a good opponent. I’d try Pikeville, KY. Young team this year but always solid with athleticism.Apparently none of my options will work because they traditionally schedule inner city dayton schools to start but I wouldn't be opposed to any small school power or even some dayton schools. Greatest program in Ohio History not hardly unless your only counting the last 20 years. Massillon, McKinley, Moeller, Steubenville, Warren Harding , and St Ignatius would be top programs all time. Best Current program in Ohio History regardless of size, sure. I know Marion Local has been a small school power for a while now. but, when you say something like Ohio State history they are still cutting teethWould be a fun game. Both teams replacing a lot. From an Ironton fan, what Local has done is awesome. Small school juggernaut created in a tiny farming community. As they say, it takes a village, and in this case an incredible support system and coaching. Cant imagine they’re scared of anyone. They play in the appropriate assigned division due to school size and absolutely dominate their like competition. Hats off to them. Ignore the few that troll. Greatest football program in Ohio state history regardless of size

AD and coach are really tight lipped on this game 1 subject. Ultimately they want something long term, but that just seems to be a thing of the past anymore. If they utter one word it's on social media within minutes and hampers any other discussions.well , this ought to get a few more POSTS.........
by the way, how do we know for sure that the Steiners turned down the OFFER to play Ironton????
can someone if Steiner land head up to the Korner Bar or at least the Winans Coffee place and get the info on this......
things get out pretty fast in this part of the state.....AD and coach are really tight lipped on this game 1 subject. Long-term? They've only had one series (Wap-3) that lasted more than two consecutive years in over a decade. Is the Week 2 matchup with Crestview Convoy a long-term contract?AD and coach are really tight lipped on this game 1 subject. They are 1 vote away from full conference play (from what we've been told), which is the best solution to eliminate one game. When you look a decade ago programs did sign longer term contracts. At least in this area they did. They stopped because of playoff implications and now with getting 2nd home games in playoffs it's made it even more difficult. Just the reality of it.Long-term? They should simply add Parkway and play Coldwater twice, and they won't have to worry about scheduling two games each year.
If people are worried about getting playoff home games, then they won't be voting for full conference play. They are 1 vote away from full conference play (from what we've been told), which is the best solution to eliminate one game. Agree 100%. The reason they went to the rotate 1 team off the schedule was to get more MAC teams in the playoffs. If people are worried about getting playoff home games, then they won't be voting for full conference play.
One of the main things to consider. How long has ML been around, compared to the schools mentioned?Greatest program in Ohio History not hardly unless your only counting the last 20 years. 1955. Not as long that's why I said still cutting teeth. These other teams were fielding great teams before MSML was even a thought. Have to consider more than just Championships when saying greatest in state history such as most wins ,most playoff appearances, most playoff wins how many players sent to college ,and how many sent to the pros etc.Three of the teams I mentioned are on the list of GREATEST teams in highschool history ever assembled. Can't really say MSML best program in History when your leaving out almost half the history of football in the state not to mention MSML wasn't a power till about 20-25 years ago. You maybe could go as far as saying ONE of the best in Ohio History based on their recent success, but to say THE best there is just way too much History and time that they were not a part of to say that. One of the main things to consider. You are right in overall history. In the past 26 years, I would say ML. No program in that time span can match their accomplishments.1955. Not as long that's why I said still cutting teeth. Agree hands down definitely the best since 2000-2024 maybe last 26 too idk I just said last 24 because that's time period they won all their championshipsYou are right in overall history. In the past 26 years, I would say ML. No program in that time span can match their accomplishments.

Remember them voted championship you still had to go undefeated and beat the best competition at the time. As we all know that would be a easy feet for MSML because we all know they would handle the Steubenvilles ,Massillons ,McKinleys , Warren Hardings, and Moellers of the 40s 50s 60s and 70s with ease...... Them juggernauts of the past would of been no match for the mighty FlyersMarion Local had some great teams well before 2000. 10 and 0 against great competition, yet didn't get enough points or votes to be considered.
The 1972 team (which was before my time) went 10-0 and had a bigger O line than Ohio State did that year. Maria Stein is too far removed from any big city newspapers which would have voted for championships.
This type of shunning by the press still shows up in all state selections but is getting better recently. Especially in the early 2000's Marion would beat teams who had several all state players in the playoffs by 40+. Some of those players would have had to really struggle to see any varsity time on those Flyer teams. Yet Marion would have no recognition to speak of.
Keeping everything the same and switch locations with Massillon, does Marion local have more "voted" state championships than Massillon during that time frame? We all know the answer, right??? LOL
This crap still happening?Remember them voted championship you still had to go undefeated and beat the best competition at the time. As we all know that would be a easy feet for MSML because we all know they would handle the Steubenvilles Massillons McKinleys and Moellers of the 70s with ease...... Them juggernauts of the past would of been no match for the mighty FlyersRemember they beat Wapokenwhooever a few years ago.Nothing against Wap either just never heard of them until on this site and having heard the MSML say the name. Kinda like the Steiners go to team when you say they haven't beat no good big school teams. To the Steiners Wap is obviously the equivalent of a Moeller, Massillon, St Ed's ,Hoban etc. I thank God every day that the Steiners weren't from Canton, Perry , or Massillon or my Tigers wouldn't have no championships
Obviously because the sound of the chest pounding was loud and clear and that me saying hands down that MSML was the best program recently in the last 20-25 years wasnt good enough for some. They were mighty well before 2000 and if they were from Massillon they would of got all the pole titles. Obviously it's always going to happen until one of the D1-D2 powers schedule MSML and hang a running clock on them. We all know that isn't going to happen anytime soon because they want no part of D5 Ironton next year and that's a game I actually think MSML has a good chance to win. This crap still happening?
1. Don't be dumb. The highlighted statement was a very stupid statement. Everything else you said was true.Obviously because the sound of the chest pounding was loud and clear and that me saying hands down that MSML was the best program recently in the last 20-25 years wasnt good enough for some. I hope you know the part of me saying MSML would win all the pole titles was me being sarcastic lol.How is wanting no part of Ironton stupid ?????If Ironton reached out and the Steiners declined to a home game against them then they want no part. I didn't say they were scared (even though I see no reason for MSML not to take the game unless they think they may lose) That's a game I would pick MSML to win and maybe even handily. Too many times I've seen higher division and undefeated teams come to play Ironton and everyone is thinking "oh we may have a game here" only for the flyers to beat them by 50. You can say they are going to be down all you want but im not buying it1. Don't be dumb. The highlighted statement was a very stupid statement. Everything else you said was true.
2. To quote our good friend ThaVoice, this conversation was so 2024. This is 2025 and the Steiners will be way way down especially compared to 2024. St Henry is on the prowl and are ready to reignite their dynasty and take the D7 throne.
The point is not that the Flyers could beat a Massillon or Moeller, they're phenomenal programs. The point is that within their size of school, over a time period longer than the tenure of Coach Goodwin, they have accomplished quite a bit more than credit is being given. MSML should not have to be a "Bigger" school to earn that respect. I don't see a need to degrade communities like Wapakoneta to make a point either. It's still the home town of an American Hero after all. And, If you wish to shorten the name (and we all do ), they prefer Wapak.Obviously because the sound of the chest pounding was loud and clear and that me saying hands down that MSML was the best program recently in the last 20-25 years wasnt good enough for some. 1. Yes, i wasnt referring to this. I dont know anything about how polling titles were decided nor care really. The only thing those Flyers teams had going for them is that they were coached by the future Cincy Bengals director of football operations.I hope you know the part of me saying MSML would win all the pole titles was me being sarcastic lol.How is wanting no part of Ironton stupid ?????If Ironton reached out and the Steiners declined to a home game against them then they want no part.
