Battle of Pickerington - OCC

Pickerington North and Central have combined for some massive wins this season, here's the list:
Those of us who are long-time (34 years) Pickerington fans understood that Central would be way down this season - just not a lot of raw talent... They have played close to their ceiling, so nobody is really upset by what we saw on the field. The cupcake schedule was a good thing and has allowed the Tigers to grow as a team. PN, on the other hand, is blessed w/ an abundance of 'physical' talent. Unfortunately, as usual, the Panthers folded whenever challenged. Anyone who attended their season-opening games vs St. Edward and Grandville (MI) came away knowing this was not a championship caliber team. Even so, I look for PN to beat PC in the rematch and then lose to Gahanna again.

I saw on a Facebook page that Central only has 3 home game scheduled for next season. Wonder what that’s about?
They have 5 home games, wrong info was given out.
Info given out previously was week 1&2 were away games.

PICKERINGTON CENTRAL
1(H) Gahanna-Lincoln
2(H) Huber Heights Wayne
3@ Pickerington North
4(H) Logan
5@ Canal Winchester
6(H) Lancaster
7@ Newark
8@ Groveport
9(H) Teays Valley
10@ Reynoldsburg

I would like to see North in Central back in the same OCC division. I always fear the someday there will be an 'incident' or something at a game for one of the sports, and the district will respond by making them stop scheduling each other as an OOC game. The district did request they would not be in the same division anymore, I always kinda wondered if it was so the town would bring in more division titles, but it didn't help North for football as I think they have yet to get a Division title since the shuffle, meanwhile Central does got more cupcakes in their in divisional slate.

I think if North gets past Westerville, I think Central has a good shot in the rematch, if we were doing Pick'ems or a region 3 bracket challenge I would have them going to play Gahanna, and then losing, not North. I tell 'ya one thing though, Taylor ain't rushing for another school record. I

Part of Central’s division, in fairness to PC, is a hand forced by Lancaster HS.

The Gales didn’t want to be in a division with Gahanna and North anymore. Their argument, which even got printed in the Eagle-Gazette, was that their district wasn’t equipped to fully take on similar-sized schools where the socioec’s were better. They were quite candid about “let’s possibly make a league with Logan, Newark, Zanesville (and a few other schools.)”

So, to extent, while it’s true that PLSD doesn’t want both in the same division, Central’s division is in essence ‘a deal made with the devil.’ Lancaster got what they wanted: maintained OCC membership (typo originally), got schools they feel they can be competitive with incorporated into the fold… with the price to be paid being Pick Central.

Don’t believe me? https://www.lancastereaglegazette.c.../05/time-lancaster-join-new-league/924442001/

Interesting thanks for sharing, I knew about the Picktown side of it, but never knew Lancaster played a part.

I agree, Canal Winchester, Teays Valley, Zanesville and Groveport Logan and Lancaster, maybe Newark can all be their own league, and then Central can just return to the Ohio division. Got a good laugh at 1-9 Logan making it into the D2R7 playoffs as the 16th seed

Where do you find future schedules?

PN -14
WN -14
2Q

I fear this may be a high scoring game in which gives WN a window to win this game as their offense is capable of putting up points. PN defense will need to play high level defense in the 2nd half to avoid a 1st round exit. So far the defense has bent but hasn’t broke.

Interesting score tonight, Hilliard Bradley, who beat North in the playoffs last year, was the 13th seed in Region II with a 2-8 record, they beat the forth seed Springfield who made it to the state championship the last three years.

They got bumped to the ditch, and I was WAY ok with it, because a five time state final, two time state champion got bumped by the “set-up” crew for the yearly central craft show. Sarcasm intended.

Sadly, probably the last time they play on that field in a varsity game, wouldn't mind if the rematch was there next week  waste of money stadium

From what I understand ticket sales are not open to the general public yet because they wanted to allow the families of the players cheerleaders band to get tickets before they opened it to the general public. I believe it’s open to the general public in the morning and I am sure it will sell out immediately

I am curious what the total amount of tickets (through allotment and what remains to be bought by general public) to be sold for this game will be.

It’s the correct call for PLSD and OHSAA to do it this way. Glad the two parties can make it work given the situation. My question is if the total tickets is to match capacity, or if it’s more in-line with the regular season policy of “x tickets in total, even if it’s only 2500 or 3000.”

I've been trying to get tickets for the last few hours... still blocked w/out some type of 'code'. I'm assuming for families and students.

If PC and PN both play their absolute best, PN wins by 3-6 pts. They simply have better players. However, I still don't trust their coaching...
The crazy thing is that the teams are mirror images of each other on offense: excellent QBs, talented RBs (Central by committee), average O-lines that commit lots of holding penalties, strong receiving corps (now that the Central kids have stopped dropping passes!). Both teams can dominate lesser teams... On defense: both are very soft up front, DEs struggle mightily to contain, poor tackling everywhere, super athletic and talented DBs who can cover, but are still learning how to defend. Central's LB corps is their weakest link and I look for PN to game plan around attacking them. Average punters and above average place kickers. It will be a fun game! PN 45-42. As a 'Pickerington' fan, I'm not sure who I'm rooting for... I normally root for the team who I think can advance the furthest. Sadly though, I think next week will be season-ending for whomever wins this on. Gahanna is flat out better than either...

With Gahanna, not having their quarterback, I don’t necessarily think that Gahanna is a better team, but we will see.

Well... that changes things. What happened? I know he got 'hurt' but i didn't know he was 'injured' and would be out. I feel terrible for him and the Lions. PN's QB seemed to be ok versus WN last week, but I did notice they'd bring in his backup to run QB keeps and options. I thought that was simply a matter of athleticism.
