Battle of Pickerington - OCC

I don’t think Pickerington North’s schedule could’ve been better than it was. Get a taste of the really tough games, learn what playing high level football is, then be able to build your confidence as a team (hopefully don’t suffer too many injuries) and take on 2 more challenging opponents before the post season. If I am a North fan, I want that schedule every year.

Must be one of those refs who forgot that the school getting discussed can easily figure out which of their refs for the Canal game came from a town east of I-77, which is where the poster resides.

Have couple people close to the program. The attitude and selfishness of the players and parents has gotten Bad over last year n half. Many of these people think they’re going D-1 and get all that NIL money If the player is Not playing the right position to do this, these Issues raise their ugly Heads. I’m sure it’s worse then we think at MANY of these Talented Schools. Only to get Worse. Sad.

uh, that happens at North as well.

It actually happens pretty much everywhere. The difference between when it happens at Central and North, versus when it happens basically everywhere else, is those programs will actually have kids that can be FBS scholly candidates whereas everywhere else we’re talking about kids whose only “blessed to receive an offer from” posts in November of their senior year are D3 Muskingum College.

Not to mention that Central & North actually have that track record of kids going FBS hand over fist — at least compared to everywhere else.

Central does seem like they do get a lot of unsportsmanlike conduct penalties from when I have watched them.

Nothing wrong with playing some D3 OAC football, if they truly loved the sport, As someone who went to a OAC school they playing for the love of the game, and they can be fun until they played Mount Union :ROFLMAO:

Won't be much passing today with this weather, looks like Taylor set North's single game rushing record against Central

289 M. Taylor vs. Pick. Central '24
261 G. Igwebuike vs. St. Charles '12

Could we see an all Pickerington R3 final?
Looks like long odds, already, reasons not the least of which include PN having a likely Olentangy/Grove City week 11 with Orange waiting in week 12.

Absolutely. PN will have a toughest road to the R3 final because of seeding based on the protections. They'll be a lower seed and will have to play on the road as. higher seeds. PC could host 2 home games before playing at neutral sites... But both teams look R3 final worthy

They’re not anymore worthy than Liberty, Berlin, or UA, however.

Of the two Pick’s, Central is the one that has the most room for growth to be an R3 finalist. They probably have the most potential, too. PN’s November reputation still looms and their body of work to date doesn’t tell us anything about where they stand in the region.

But both teams last 5 games are against the weakest in the region by far. Seems like both are inflating egos and could easily smacked. Neither Head coach has shown they can out coach the competition when the team is not playing to their potential. Just my opinion

I feel like PN's final stretch isn't bad with 1 loss Grove City and 2 loss Gahanna. They will be battle tested. Agree about Central's weak schedule but could also mean there fresh for a deep run.

There’s an opinion that this year’s PC team is unlike the PC standard of the Sharrett era. That, despite the general offensive prowess, this years’ team doesn’t have the little things sealed up: discipline, detailing, and A-level trench play. Where this doesn’t portend well, at least to the idea this is a Regional Finalist team, is the fact the OCC-Buckeye isn’t going to push PC.

We’re not in the days of Region 3 being PC’s region, anymore. I don’t think those days are coming back. This isn’t a fault of Central, but while the Tigers’ auto-pilot through the OCC-Brokeeye there are a handful of programs elsewhere that are playing November caliber ball in Sept/October — against way better competition.

Real ones know the challenge that lies ahead with four Olentangies and a UA, and the depth to that challenge. Has less to do with how PC stacks up on paper, has everything to do with the levels of urgency up north and the formative schedule that gets those teams November-ready. You can substitute PC with PN when it comes to the regular season flight, it would still largely apply.

Personally think there is still an advantage playing in Pickerington come playoffs.

Agree, that new OCC Conference does no favors for Central football. Who’s next to join, Marietta? Jackson? The OCC jumped the shark with the addition of Logan.

North is playing its first real game since the Central game, no clue how they are gonna play tonight. Would not be too shocked if they blow it, but also think they shouldn't have too much trouble against Groveport. It's hard to tell how good they really are; they struggled big time offensively game one, and the defense just barely kept it from a running clock. They had the 90 degree track meet game week 2, then the Central game. With the lack of adversity during this 4 week stint against essentially winless teams, not sure how much improvement could have been made. Can't remember if the coaching/play-calling was much better during the coach Phillips days or not.

Speaking of computer points for playoff pairings, the schedule has given them very few points. I wonder if they win out if they even will end high enough to get the double home games. If we still had a 8 team playoff, and North lost to either Groveport or Gahanna, North probably would end up like the 2011 team, 8-2 and in 9th place, no playoffs.

As far as Logan in the OCC, I'm not sure how competitive they are in the other sports, at least for football, Logan doesn't belong in the OCC. They will struggle each year to get even one conference win. The one chance this year would have been Lancaster. They beat North many times years ago and even beat PHS in the playoffs once, but the programs have moved in opposite directions. In my dream scenario, I would kill the buckeye division and kick out Lancaster, Logan, Teays Valley, Canal maybe Newark, let them form their own conference, and then divvy up the rest amongst the other divisions, would be nice to see the Ohio division have Central, the Burg, and or Groveport again.

I agree. Schedule hasnt been tough recently and hard for me to consider PN front runners for any title after watching them not cross the 50 yd line week 1.

Projecting are that PN end up 8-2. 6 seed. Hosting 1 playoff game. Quality wins are killing them in the computer points system. PC is projected 8-2. 1 seed. Hosting 2 playoff games based on computer points

Since the Battle of Pickerington, PN has 4 wins against teams that are a combined 2-26. And while those wins have been decisive, the level of competition still leaves questions about how good they actually are

PC has 4 wins against teams that are a combined 13-15. Still not a great sample based on opponents records but all wins have come as the 1st Team watched after halftime. They're not the same team they were at the beginning of the season. And some of the attitude issues have been addressed and seem to be corrected.... And they're finally 100% healthy and have all their pieces....

Frustrating to watch this PN offense. Defense been holding up, had quite a few almost interceptions.

Central Game 28-28. Groveport been making this one interesting.
