Nothing he stated comes across as embarrassing. Honestly it sounds more like some fans have sour grapes.

I don't believe he brought up the subject originally if you follow the thread.

Also only one commenter seems to actually know this person and might be on a first name basis with this person.

If you read the other replies it seems like people not as close to the situation and are just annoyed but don't have actual inside details or know the player or father personally.

You got one guy who knows the father saying he is a good father and other people who it seems do not know the family well saying he can't be a great father.

Cliffs notes lol.
 
franzinger isn’t going anywhere any time soon. They will try to give him everything he needs to succeed, but I don’t know how he can survive after another year like the two we just experienced. Other area teams have done far more with less talent than we have.

First off, this wasn’t st Ed’s best team by a long shot, but those coaches got the most out of that team. Ed’s has a better program.

But, look at mentors roster and then ignatius roster— ignore all the nonsense matt goul writes. I would take ignatius roster. We were out coached, and quite frankly had too much BS discipline issues in that first mentor game and gave the game away…

Playoff game against them, we were too beat up by then.

St. Edward was very similar to their other teams including teams that won state. Major difference being the 3 B1G OL. And I vehemently disagree, Matt Goul does excellent work and his writing is far from nonsense. Re: Mentor, I would take Mentor’s roster easily, at the most important position on the field they have by far the better player and they have better skill players and OL. But they also play a much easier schedule.

Any "reporter" who didn't hype 'Dre Taylor as being the best DL on that Ed's team BY FAR, either didn't watch them actually play or doesn't know what he is "reporting" on. Seriously, that kid is a player, yet Goul never mentioned him. Quiet honestly, forget defensive line, the kid was up there with Gregory and Eaton as far as being dominant on the defensive side of the ball. Incredibly fast getting off the ball and was a force inside.

Is Taylor the kid that transferred from Bene? If so he’s an absolute load.

Yep, that’s the one. Fantastic player. I don’t think Bene knew what they had at the time. I think Ed’s tried to keep how good the kid was a secret so Benedictine wouldn’t make a stink with OHSAA and force the kid to sit half the season. I suspect the kid got zero ink because Goul just reports what the coaches tell him to report and Ed’s wanted to downplay Taylor as much as possible to keep him off Bene’s radar. Well, Benedictine finally figured it out and made a stink to OHSAA come the playoffs. But that kid got stiffed on any end of the season honors while players who don’t have half of his talent/numbers on the Ed’s Dline got honored.

Now on Goul, I don’t blame him. One reporter covering so many teams is an impossible task. But, he just pushes what these coaches tell him, IMO. Just like with the iggy OL this past season. He bought the hype ignatius was selling and reported accordingly. Remember when he ranked the iggy OL number 1 in the region? Come on now.
 
If the Ignatius OL does transfer to Hudson, it would be appreciated if someone would share the name of the player.

He’s going to catch flak over ranking Iggy the #1 for a long time, lol. In addition to the Iggy coaches hyping those kids they have college offers. Bene did the same thing to us when a few of their kids came over to Glenville. Grownups need to act like it…

True on the college offers, BUT some colleges recruit based on dimensions and not abilities. Game tape is where you can tell the real players versus the pretenders. I’ll just leave it at that.

And let’s not forget the most important position that continues to struggle even with injuries- QB.

The Ignatius bball program has more intimidating looking players right now than the football program.

And Matt Ghoul does a great job and is the only person locally even covering HS sports anymore.

Well, considering the basketball team has our originally slated starting qb….and they have one of our originally slated DBs….

What was he supposed to do? All 5 starters returned and that OL should have been the absolute most dominant part of the team.

Did you watch any games the year before? You had an OL that couldn’t run or pass block return from the previous season and you and matt Goul think they should sky rocket from worst to first? Come on now.

Bentley has been a divisor, if anything. It's all about his 'guys' and not the team. At least, that's what I'm told.
