2025 St. Ignatius Football

Unofficially: Substitute Pickerington North ( 11-3 including playoffs) for Coffman ( their only win). Benedictine comes onto the schedule, but the rest remains essentially the same.

Crane’s Cleveland Business has an article of about a $5M gift toward capital campaign. I’ve reached my limit though and can’t read it but maybe someone else can share.

3 road games to start off the year? That’s not very common. Another component of Franzinger changes.
Home and home with Avon and Mentor ( both were home games last yr.). Pick North a new opponent. A number of games away to start has happened several times.

Slap me silly

If it helps, PN was a very senior heavy team, as they will lose 4 starting WRs (2 d1 ones), starting QB, starting RB. They do return all but one of their D1 secondary, but should be a worse team than last year.

Bad news, they usually have a handful of transfers come in, an OSU WR commit lives 20 minutes away and isn't being utilized on his current team, and PN has had a couple OSU commits go through their program, Sam Williams-Dixon was the most recent one, originally played on West Holmes, but moved to PN his senior year.

Pick North’s QB is a Jr.

Season is already off to another great Franzinger start… impossible schedule and Tristan Hughes transferred out (right after the season ended).

I expect the transfer circus with players to become more and more common, unfortunately. Blame modern college football for that. I think a lot of it has to do with helicopter parents convinced their kid is the best and needs to be playing somewhere else, isn't playing enough, etc.

Ironically, it's the kid who gets forgotten in all of it. Bouncing around to 4 different high schools can't be good for a kid who may not have all that much of a say in the process.

Especially once the inevitable NIL comes to Ohio hs sports.

To all the Ignatius football fans who are looking at another 1-9 season next fall, allow me to suggest that the soccer may be worth looking at as the team goes for its seventh consecutive state title. I know that at least one Ignatius follower has said that he would never look at soccer because he finds it boring, but is it any more boring than watching [insert opponent here]'s running back gash the Ignatius for 6-8 yards play after play?
