2025 St. Ignatius Football

Times have changed and it is what it is.

I’m just going to say, it’s a hard decision to pass on an education from St. Edward and St. Ignatius and the discipline you are taught along the way, not to mention everything else that comes with it, but the RRSD is excellent as well. Good luck on your future endeavors for any athlete in this situation.

I think the thread would be a lot more tolerable if the SI thread only has SI folks.
😂. If you get bored this off-season, like I do, go to the archives thread and read the 2004 St. Edward thread and prepare yourself from some of the original, best trolling from St. Ignatius fans that you will never see again. Back then, it was a real rivalry. This is nothing compared to beck then.

I wonder if more of the local suburban schools and smaller Catholic schools will be willing to play St. Ignatius now that they're not as dominant as they were in the past

With the size disparity, they might in one-off situations but they probably still figure the Golden Tornado will right the ship.

Benedictine is an outlier.

The ignatius AD sent contracts to most local schools and zero wanted to play even this version of the Cats.

And I don’t blame them but it’s a fact.

Ignatius knocks off a highly regarded Westerville North team today. Game was extremely sloppy, chaotic and a tough watch due to over zealous officiating. Kind of what you normally see in the first couple games of the year.
Wrong forum

Play this schedule: Iggy vs
Mentor
Walsh Jesuit
Benedictine
VAsj
Hoban
Eds
St X
Ursuline
Toledo CC
Avon
Why not? I get it’s not going to happen but look at all the rivalry games and solid Catholic games with a couple of solid public’s in there.

Okay how about this, replace Toledo CC with Lake Catholic. Better??

Ignatius does not want to play Lake and I know for a fact Lake has zero interest playing Ignatius.

Where do you come up with this nonsense?

A great father doesn't make his kid transfer 2 or more times within 1 year. Period.
Time for you to shut up, Wildcat97.

For months you join the war party that ripped everything about our famed Alma mater’s program from the head coach, to the parents involved and now you are getting into it with a father who removed his son from the school and program? The HIGH SCHOOL program that you have committed to criticizing?

Arrogance at its best. And I believe that “arrogance” is being kind.

It was a response to Ignatius people complaining about their schedule. By the way, did you see where I stated “It’s not going to happen”?

Most (if not all) programs aren’t going to line up to play Iggy as they’re literally the polar opposite of a “Harbin cow.” Even in their program’s current state, they’d still be a tough out for, at minimum, 95% of Ohio. Other than the historical aspect of “playing St. Ignatius,” why sign up for a tough game against a team that’s likely to finish well below .500 because their schedule is too brutal? Last year, it took two overtimes for Austintown Fitch to beat a 2-8 (regular season record) Iggy squad. The Falcons got their win and promptly replaced the Wildcats with Painesvile Riverside. For most (if not all) programs, the risk simply isn’t worth the reward and the mental gymnastics to get out of it, so they’ll continue to let Iggy have to deal with "the other 5%" that includes Eds, Mentor, Avon, Hoban, Moeller/X, and the rest of the best that Ohio has to offer.

Now, while most may not see it coming any time soon, if the Wildcats ever figure out a way to reinvent themselves and consistently compete, they may come out better than ever. Calling that a "tall task" may be putting it lightly, but they did just come within arm's length of beating Mentor (regular season) & Toledo Central Catholic.

Good post and I respect what your points.

Ignatius has more advantages than almost every single HS in Ohio. Money? Yep. Huge student body? Yep. Parents who are involved-both good and bad? Yep.

Figuring it out means aligning resources or hoping the people in charge of them manage well. Look at any other sport at the school for examples.

I laugh when I see posters on this forum get so upset that others are not supporting the program because of criticisms. I know for a fact it has NO effect on the people in charge managing the incredible resources.
