2024 Federal League

Nothing against Warren but with all the talent that McKinley has this year we should have won bigger. I don’t understand what they were trying to do last night with the play calling. You don’t have to run the ball every single play. We have a quarterback with a cannon for an arm and he barely threw the ball last night. Things better change before we head to Avon next week or it will be ugly!!
Why pass when the defense couldn't stop your run.

Does anyone think McKinley can upset Avon? Can the Pups keep it close?
Could they? Yes. McKinley is very talented. Do I think they will? No. Avon would need to make some serious mistakes. This team is foreal. But these are high school kids we are talking about. Anything can happen on Friday nights.

Great defensive effort by Green tonight. Down 10-3 at the half, the Bulldogs tied the game with a pick six early in the 3rd and got a 4th and 1 stop at our own 14 to end a 20 play Riverside possession early in the 4th. Anthony McMichael was the hero, catching the winning TD pass with 5 minutes to go, and icing the game with an interception

Perry with the 17-0 shutout victory over Akron St. Lebron. Horrible officiating for sides. The one time Akron St. Lebron almost scored Perry got a stop on 3rd down refs thought it was 4th down so Perry goy the ball back. Perry received a lot of holdings and false starts that definitely need to be cleaned up. However good won for Perry 0 points allowed through 2 games for Wakefields defense.

Congrats to the Panthers on their win over SVSM 17-0. Green Street Stadium is a tough place to get a win. Defense sounded like its doing a very good job. I understand the Panthers had 9 offensive holding calls that stalled drives and from what I’m hearing, the coaches were not happy with the officials. Home cooking at Green Street? Nahhhhh…lol.

Got a couple. Solid bounce back week from the fed. Anyone have any insight on the Hoover vs Hudson game?
Hudson had a long drive to begin the game, Hoover D held on 4th and short from about the 15 yard line and dominated the rest of the game till Hudson scored with about 230 left in the game. Hoover D accounted for 2 safeties.

Hoover broke the ice with a TD pass around 50 yards right before the half from backup QB Collins. Collins added about a 20 yard TD run in the 4th quarter following the 2nd safety to take control of the game.

Both starting QBs were knocked out of the game, Hoover QB Braucher in the first half, Hudsons QB in the 4th quarter.

Standings after Week 2
Lake 0-0 (2-0)
Perry 0-0 (2-0)
Green 0-0 (1-1)
Hoover 0-0 (1-1)
McKinley 0-0 (1-1)
Glenoak 0-0 (0-2)
Jackson 0-0 (0-2)

Week 3
Lake at Brecksville
Warren Harding at Perry
Tallmadge at Green
Akron North at Hoover
Detroit Cass Tech at McKinley
Glenoak at Fitch
Stow at Jackson

Couple of thoughts on Lake.

They have played pretty well so far, but neither of the teams they have beat so far appear to be very good. We probably won’t get a true gauge til week 4 against Perry. Defense looks fast and stingy. QB looks really good, we haven’t had a QB like him in a while. Has a good arm, makes solid decisions, and as we saw last night his scrambling was incredible. He can really extend a play. If they stay healthy as a team, I think they can have a really good year. Being in R5 this year doesn’t do them any favors, but they could make a run.

I wouldn't say that team they played last week is terrible. I saw the score of their game last night. Yet the team they played is ranked #1 in 5A in the WPIAL. So they played a team probably that would beat Lake easily. Now are they federal league quality? Probably not they weren't very big in size.Just quick and athletic. Boardman was a giant step below them just in talent. We were fortunate to beat McKeesport. Boardman was never in the game.

Agree with the last part. According to Drew Pasteur’s ratings Lake would be #2 in Region 7. They are currently #7 in Region 5.

Green did a nice job making adjustments and fixing mistakes from Week One. Pass blocking, penalties, and poor coverage were all problems against Dover, but not at all against a Riverside team that was probably better than Dover. I'm optimistic about our chances in the next three games against Tallmadge, Hoover and Jackson.

Haven’t seen the bulldogs yet this year, but I have a feeling they are in for another strong year barring any injuries. Dover is a good football team and it sounds like they just let that one get away. Hopefully week 10 is a good one. Streaks and Dawgs have been playing some meaningful matchups late in the year the last couple seasons.
