2024 Federal League

How often do you guys play each other?
Played from 01-04 splitting the 4 games and have played the last 2 years with Hoover winning both.

Not sure where he got the 0-18.

Hoovers wins are 42-14 in 01, 14-7 in 03, 35-21 in 22 and 27-21 last year.

Thats why I asked. I was kind of surprised that you guys played each other that often

Not a great start for the league, but there's plenty of time to turn it around.

Jackson, Green and Hoover all have opportunities to bounce back by pulling off upsets in Week 2 (against Hudson, Riverside, and Fitch respectively). Meanwhile McKinley and Perry have big road games against Avon and STVM. Lake should be a big favorite against Boardman, but the Spartans did earn a surprise victory over Kenston tonight.

Green wasn't terrible, but need to clean some things up. The lines played well on both sides of the ball, Reed and McMichael both had some impressive runs, Hunka was accurate, though Green didn't throw as much as usual. Bulldogs also forced two turnovers and missed very few tackles on defense.

On the other hand, Green had way too many false starts, the receivers looked slow, and Dover was able to recover an onside kick, which can't happen. DBs also had trouble staying with the Dover receivers. The Tornadoes QB is excellent, but we have to do a better job in coverage. We really missed Antonio Martin on both sides of the ball. When he comes back it will add another dimension to this team.

Should Green have won? Maybe, but Dover is a solid team that is much improved from a year ago. Green also got a few breaks (recovered a Dover fumble on a kick return, intercepted a tipped pass). It was an evenly matched game. There's a lot to fix, but Geis will have them ready for Week 2.

Anyone have reports from the Jackson and Hoover games?

McKinley coaching and play calling is nothing to write home about in week one. Talented roster but the physical attributes lacked getting my attention in a way that made me think this team is stacked before seeing them on TV.
Hopefully, they will attempt to "air it out" against Avon. St. Ignatius running game was shut down last night by the Avon defense. The new McK offensive coordinator didn't show anything against Warren. We'll soon see.....

Standings after Week 1
Lake 0-0 (1-0)
McKinley 0-0 (1-0)
Perry 0-0 (1-0)
Glenoak 0-0 (0-1)
Green 0-0 (0-1)
Hoover 0-0 (0-1)
Jackson 0-0 (0-1)

Jackson playing the Cards tough. I have a feeling the Polar Bears will makes some noise this year.
You’re definitely a half glass full even if there’s a hole and it’s leaking out. As an outsider of the program, the ship is sinking and sinking fast. Coach Rohr was moved to HC because he’s a yes man in a good ole boys club.

Based solely on the scores, I don't see how Jackson fans could be too upset right now. The starters held Hoban scoreless in last week's scrimmage, then they went on the road against a Mentor team that might be top 10 in D1 and played them even for a half. You could be right though. If the game against Fitch goes poorly, I'll rethink my opinion on the Bears.

I will say that having a good QB can overcome other weaknesses, and Jackson has a very good QB.
