2024 Federal League

Wakefield back wow! Boys better really buckle up and that is a compliment - great coach!

I also agree - GlenOak has speed to match Pups I think - we'll see eventually
I would have agreed if Jamar Johnson hadn't transferred from GlenOak to McKinley. Adrion Burt is very good at QB, but losing Johnson, Avante Burt, Davis, Ashcraft, Morrison and most of their excellent O-line is going to be a challenge. Garcia has his work cut out for him.

I'm very interested to hear how Hoover and Lake look in their scrimmages. While the Vikings did lose two stars in Dyrlund and Mason Ashby, I believe their senior class was unusually small, meaning they should have plenty of experienced guys back on the O-line and on defense. For the Blue Streaks, I'm sure they'll be just fine if they can find a QB.

Perry is in today, 8/1.

Good news: Green has about 70 guys on the varsity roster, which is 20-25 more than they've had each of the last four years. Also, there's a chance Antonio Martin will be back for Week 1.

Bad news: Mike Schaal injured his knee in the Spring and won't be playing this year.

Wow..losing Schaal is horrible news. Loved watching him play.

It’s a shame that major injuries take the athletes away from their teams. I don’t care who they play for, I have empathy for them, especially if they are seniors. I know what it did to my senior year, not that I was a starting player, but I would have contributed more than I ended up doing.

Sorry to hear about the injury. Sucks big time for the kid and team. Best of luck in his recovery.

How is Coach Johnson doing? I hear he is highly regarded.

Green's starters tied Wadsworth 7-7 in their scrimmage this morning. Overall, I was happy with what I saw from the Bulldogs. The defense looked very good. The offense clearly needed some work, but I'm confident it will come around.

I'm excited to hear how the other scrimmages go.

Perry visited Chaney and the first units tied 0-0 in three 10 play offensive series a piece. I was impressed with the Panthers defense. Chaney never got inside their 35. Gang tackling, two interceptions on deep balls. Wakefield’s influence was obvious. The Perry offense did well on sweeps and counters. They threw probably 4 out of 10 plays. Chaney did a lot of blitzing, which is difficult for lines to pick up in first scrimmages. Mattox was accurate with his throws when he got time. I truly believe if there were first and tens the Panthers would have scored once. Offense needs some work, but I think they’ll work things out. Looks like the Panthers have around 57-59 players.

Was anyone at the Jackson-Alliance scrimmage yesterday?

Wow..losing Schaal is horrible news. Loved watching him play.
Jackson’s defense was good and should be. They essentially gave nothing up and lived in Alliance’s backfield. The offense was alright QB was good. Clearly adjusting to a new system. Alliance’s score was a fumble return after a 20 yard run. Kid got held up and stripped.

Perry lots of returning starters and sophomores class has some big kids. Defensive with Wakefield should definitely be improved. Offense will be interesting hearing they want to pass more often. Scrimmage this Friday against Iggy should tell quite a bit about who they are.

Went to Hoover - Alliance scrimmage. Hoover was able to easily get in the backfield and they ran the ball pretty easily. Hoover may be better than first thought. Alliance looked bad though. Early Fed call:
1. Mck
2. Perry
3. Green
4. Hoover
5. Jackson
6. G/O
7. Lake

Uniontown Lake last in the Fed? I don't think so! NC Hoover will be the class of the 2024 Federal League.
