What does OHSAA do about Marion Local in D7?

MSML would run through DIII-VI, annually making it to the regional finals or beyond. In DII, they would still have a winning record and host a first round playoff game.

I truly believe that MSML would beat about 20-25% of DI teams on an annual basis (Region 1 - Normandy, John Marshall, GlenOak, Elyria, Euclid, Stow-MF; Region 2 - Beavercreek, Central Crossing or whichever Southwestern district school was down in a given year; Region 3 - Watkins Memorial, Lancaster, Westerville Central, Thomas Worthington; Region 4 - Little Miami, Walnut Hills, Western Hills, Colerain).

Why didn't the MAC win those years?
2016: Only 6-4 Minster and 6-4 Fort Recovery were in D7 R28 (and a 2-8 New Bremen that missed the playoffs).
2018: Only 7-3 Minster was in D7 R28 (and 6-4 New Bremen & 2-8 DSJ that missed the playoffs).

Down years in the D7 MAC regions. Minster made the state final at 6-4 and lost to JFK in 2016 and got upset in 2018 by Crestview.

My bad... I went the history lesson route.

That being said, I would like to see the MAC spread across the SW and NW regions more, since typically it's only DSJ that's in the NW region. Allow the opportunity for Minster or St. Henry to meet ML in the state semis instead of round 2-3.

what is the ohssa supposed to do? draw region lines to give the mac a better advantage to make the state semis? come on

I've redrawn the line. Now, if we can get the OHSAA to have R25 play R26 and R27 play R28, all will be right in the world.

In a perfect world, where would the line be?

It's a very small line to draw since the MAC is already on the northern end of the SW region. Wouldn't hate it.

It rubs people the wrong way when the 8th or 9th best team makes the state final, especially for the divisions with MAC teams.

At this point, I think we’re stuck with 25 v 27 and 26 v 28.

Pairing 25 to 26 is going to be an automatic elimination of the “new to ‘the show’” communities (the next Lucas, Dalton, Hillsdale et al) that is favorable for d7 final ticket revenue purposes.

On a side note, how is the fishing on Grand Lake? I'm embarrassed to say I didn't know this lake existed until 4 minutes ago.

Sad, but true.

I don't know how the fishing is these days, but the lake has had bad algae problems going back over a decade now. I used to swim in it as a kid but has been deemed unsafe to swim in since around 2008 or so.

mostly crappie, perch, and bluegill. some catfish and largemouth.

13,500 acres and I didn't know it existed. Wow. I only live 2 hours away. Hahaha.

One last comment...If it is unsafe to swim in, I'm not so sure I'd eat the fish. Lol.

Marion Local gets running clocked by either of the two teams that were in the DIII game. Did you watch it?

I thought the DIV field was weak this year. They probably would have beat either of those teams.

DV they get beat by Ironton. The Terry kid was impressive. They probably lose to LC too. LC out physicals them in that game.

Compete, yes. Run through, no.

What about Massillon? Any thoughts?

LC outphysical ML? I'm sure you have but I'm going to ask anyway. Have you seen them play?

MLs Line and Linebackers weren't afraid to stick their noses where no one should stick them

We like to do things bigger around here. Grand lake is the second largest hand dug man made reservoir in the US after the hoover dam reservoir. Maria Stein is home to the 2nd largest collection of Catholic relics in the US and 3rd largest in the world I believe.
Wow. That is amazing.

Yes. I've seen them both play. I think it would be a heck of a game. LC was more physical than Ironton as well, I'm not saying Ironton wasn't physical, but it was more the fact that they were more athletic.

Let's go full blow European soccer on this thing.

All of the D2 to D7 regional finalists (8 teams) move up one division. The bottom two teams in each region by Harbin points move down a division.

For geographical reasons you would always promote and relegate to the corresponding region in the new division as the old division.
It’s not a terrible idea. And obviously it works on a grand scale in the most popular sport on the planet.

So that means, OHSAA will never consider it
