I know my last list got torched, but that's not stopping me from trying again. Shot put:

Dave Foley, Roger Bacon, 62' 1 1/2", 1965, GCL (1st)
Harry Woebkenburg, Moeller, 61' 6", 1973, State (1st)
Mike Marksbury, Norwood, 60' 11", 1973, Sectional (1st)
Tom Hassel, Purcell, 60' 4 1/4", 1980, District (1st)
Doug Williams, Moeller, 59' 3/4", 1981, GCL (1st)
Stan Anderson, Fairfield, 58' 11", 1989, Anderson Inv. (1st)
Tim Berwanger, LaSalle, 58' 10 1/2", 1995, GCL (1st)
Ben McGrath, Moeller, 58' 8 1/2", 2003, District (1st)
John Roudabush, Indian Hill, 58' 7 1/4", 1971, Regional (1st)
Mike Munoz, Moeller, 58' 6 1/2", 1999, Regional (1st)

I thought Munoz had thrown further, but I couldn't find a better mark. As usual, additions and corrections gladly accepted.

Harry Woebkenburg won state in 1974 not 1973
Jeff Glos - Amelia - 62'2½" - Sectional - 1st - 1975

And as if one list wasn't good enough - discus:

Steve Quehl, St. Xavier, 181' 11 1/2", 1971, Miami Relays (1st)
Mike Rapien, Elder, 178' 10", 1986, District (1st)
Mike Munoz, Moeller, 178' 2", 1999, Meet Unknown
John Harper, Moeller, 177' 4", 2003, State (3rd)
Tim Berwanger, LaSalle, 175' 6", 1995, Meet Unknown
Tom Scrugham, Anderson, 173' 8", 1972, Sectional (1st)
Dave Mayer, Greenhills, 173' 3", 1974, District (1st)
Andy Mignery, Hamilton, 173' 3", 1999, State (3rd)
Mark Mather, Sycamore, 173' 2", 1979, State (2nd)
Steve Andrew, Mariemont, 172' 4", 1977, District (Place?)

I figure moeman and the master should be able to fill in the "meet unknown" spots...

Berwanger got second at state with his throw.
Ben Bird - New Richmond - 179'7" - 1992 - State - 2nd. Bird is supposed to have thrown over 188' but I don't know where.

Munoz threw 59' 4.5" at the Elder invite in 1999. That is listed as the Elder meet record

I think you are right on Munoz.

I just called the Anthony Muñoz Foundation, and lo and behold, Michael was there. He said he threw the discus 178'2" at a meet in Portsmouth, Ohio. moemanxc, can you get the name of the meet Moeller went to in Portsmouth in 1999 where Muñoz threw the discus 178'2". When he said that, a light went on. I remember reading about a meet Moeller went to far away where Muñoz threw his incredible heave. I know it was in the Enquirer about his throw when he did it.

He also said his best shot put was at a meet at Oak Hills where he did throw over 59' but couldn't remember the inches. He thought it was ½" but if it is the Elder Invitational record then it must be the 59'4½". I believe that year (1999) was the first year for the new track at Oak Hills.

Seek Up, this isn't about getting torched. This is about you, me, skins99, impartial observer, and moemanxc coming up with the best of the best in Cincinnati. The five of us together are called SLIMS to work on this project as a team together one for all and all for one.

More on Jeff Glos's tremendous throw at the Norwood Sectional in 1975.

This is taken from the "Time Pieces" section of Our Times publised May 11, 1975.

"Jeff Glos's shot put of 62'2½" at the Norwood Sectional was an all-time Ohio best beating Tim Foley of Roger Bacon - brother of the former record holder. Jeff's mark is currently 14th in the nation says Ed Chay of Ohio Track and Field News who called Track and Field News in California. This is quite an accmplishment considering that this is the 68th year of prep track in Ohio. In all those 68 years this is the best shot put ever."

All fellow SLIMS workers on the Cincinnati City Top Ten Rankings, here is our progress report.

We now have all five field events done(Pole Vault, high jump, long jump, discus, shot put).
We have one relay done(3200 meter relay)
We have six open events done (110, 200, 300, 400, 800, 1600, 3200)
We now have thirteen events complete.

Here are the remaining four events:

100 meter dash
400 meter relay
800 meter relay
1600 meter relay

The end is in sight. We must forge ahead.

Carlos Tipton ran 14.49 in the regional prelims in 2000 to qualify to the finals, but I can't find him running in the finals. What happened to him? He just missed the top ten with his 14.49 because 10th place is 14.40.

your right. the 14.3 i was thinking of came from the favc meet which is hand timed.

did the height of the 110m hurdles get changed, also, or was that just the 300s? Because if not Moeller's school record is 13.94 converted FAT by C. Milton in 1978.

David Griffin of lakota west went 6'10 last year at GMC's.

no he didn't, because he is not listed as having tie the record for the league meet on gmcsports.com and lakota west's website lists his school record as being 6'8".

Ben Bird threw 188' and change somewhere. I believe it's listed as the city record. Perhaps Karl Kaufmann knows.

9. 21.96 1987 Vince Clark CAPE Regional 1st
10. 22.02 1991 Tyrone Brown Withrow Regional 2nd
What are the conversion factors for this event? I believe we add .24 for MT, but what about the 220 yard to 200 meter conversion. Deering of Mt. Healthy ran a 21.4 MT somewhere in 1983, but I'm in Seattle and cannot look it up.

Thanks for the correction on Harry. Also, I didn't add Jeff b/c I wasn't sure of our top 10 criteria.

Does New Richmond meet the criteria for our list? And I'm not just asking b/c I don't want to see Quehl get bumped...

No, it didn't. When it was the 120 high hurdles, it was the same as it is now with the 110 meters hurdles. Btw, the difference between the 120 yards high hurdles and the 110 meters high hurdles is so insignificant that most people see it as the same event. Therefore there is no conversion factor.

As you can see, moemanxc, I have Milton down for 13.94 in the 110 list.

Our top ten criteria is what the coaches say is the criteria for a school to be considered for a Cincinnati area record. Middletown is out because they only meet one criterium of the three required. Here are the three:

1. Must be in a league with primarily Cincinnati area schools.
2. Must compete in a district meet in Cincinnati area which has almost if not all Cincinnati area teams in it.
3. Must fall within 30 miles of Cincinnati.

In Amelia's case they meet all three
1. Legaue - FAVC
2. District - Mason district
3. Distance - 20.88 miles according to mapquest.
