Another successful season comes to a close. The Eagles placed 12/13 wrestlers and almost set a new point total record. As we say goodbye to 4 seniors the future is very bright in the wrestling room. I believe next years team will break the 229 points. IF everyone is healthy come sectional time. I always give a future line up during this post. Again it's March 11th. Things can change. The last 3 years out of 42 wrestlers 40 of them were in the line up come sectionals. The weights might flip during the year but I'm confident the names will be in the line up come sectional time. So here is my best shot as of today. I will not name incoming/transfers until they actual enter school.

Think Mazur will be at 120 looked like a very big cut to make 106 but he may have to make 113 to get in the lineup. Not sure if Miller's will go up again. Depends on what weights they plan to wrestle in college. I don't think the bigger Miller wants to wrestle heavyweight (in college) so he may want to stay at 195. Didn't look like either were cutting much weight. Although they could wrestle up for the team. Peterson has had a tough cut the past two years but 175 should be makeable. I could see Butler at 144. Pirkel and Pfieffer have been very good on the Green team Driscoll will be a factor if he can stay healthy. Wouldn't surprise me if one or more of the middleweight guys leave.

I thought Driscoll was a 2024? I coached him in football, wrestling and lacrosse in middle school - was a good kid and athlete.

Mazur will be out. Schork 106 and Whitely 113. Driscoll not losing to anyone at 144 in that list.

Driscoll has no chance at 44 since he just wrestled off at 57

Once the 8th graders arrive in school then the line up will be revised. Mazur will be in the line up next year.

Unless there's another Driscoll, I believe the 2024 Driscoll is playing Lacrosse for Mercyhurst next year...
Yes, Cooper Driscoll will be a sophomore next year and is the #4 ranked freshman according to my man Boro's rankings. He will find a spot in the lineup next year, looks like it'll be 157.

Great kid and great family! Look forward to watching him next year.

Schork is going to Wadsworth from what I was told. Whitely big, but gunning for 106 next. If he can make it, he will be immediately in the title contention, and possibly the favorite to win it.

Who are Schork and Whitely?
Very tough 8th graders. Whitely #1 ranked middle school kid in the country for his weight, multiple time OAC state champ, and numerous national titles and elite wins. Schork is just a small step below that, he will be one of the top lightweights in Ohio for the next 4 years. Whitely will be in an Ed’s singlet and if he makes 106, will probably start the year ranked top 10–15 in the national high school rankings.

Good stuff. Sounds like a beast. Wonder if Eds is still trying to pursue Schork.

Think is Mazur is the choice at 113 he will be right in the mix with not having such a tough weight cut. Who knows maybe Eds has another OAC stud or two coming in to challenge some of these guys.

Who are Schork and Whitely?
Schork was JH runner up at 90 last year to Bickerton. Whitely was JH Champ 2 years ago at 84. Both seem to be at 108 at this weekend’s JH State. 108 seems to lead me to believe 106 will be a tough cut by this time next year, but both would beat McLaughlin imo.

Ed’s dad here. All us parents pursued Ed’s. We all had are kid(s) test to get in and figured out the finances. That’s every parent of the gold team and that’s a fact. I can’t speak to anything that’s happened in the past. But there are some other schools where different dads contacted me to get my kids to come to their school. There’s “public” schools that wanted to get my boys. No one has a chance, they started at westshore in 2nd grade. Coaches at Ed’s don’t meet with 8th graders. You come to Ed’s or you don’t, it’s that simple.

Couldn’t agree more.

What’s it cost for the boys to goto Ed’s nowadays?

They do a great job with aid though. I for sure thought I couldn’t afford it, but it got sorted.

LaSalle bumping to D2, which means Huhn and Thomas are gone (Out of D. 1) really opens the door for Adam Butler and Ty Miller to get their first state titles.

They are petitioning to be back in D1 so they will be there. Huhn a lot bigger then Butler or at least Butler cuts more, so I don’t think they would be same weight class. Miller Thomas was a good match last year .
