Southwest District/State Predictions

I predict that the 200 free is going to be one of the most fun races to watch. Any number of boys can win that in D1. Especially since we won't know who is tapered for Districts and who is trying to swim through the meet. Same goes for the 500 free.

I think Anderson and Kings are 2 teams that are going to move up in the standings after their strong showings at the Classic last weekend.

I agree the 200 and 500 free have been the most competitive events in the past couple of district and state meets and should be again this year.

We saw a good indication on Saturday for how fast the 200 really is this year. I would say the top 8 kids will all have a chance to win this event at the southwest districts. I'm also excited to see how Anderson, Talawanda, and Kings swim. These teams have been floating under the radar all year and all showed surprising talent at classics. On a unrelated note has anyone heard about the health on Kevin George? He hasn't put up fast times all year and at classics he looked like he was battling something

not sure the 200 will be competitive unless belanger does it, long is way in front of the field at this point, and just looking at returning results there is a pretty good gap, long and brooks should have a great showdown again in the 5 if brooks does it with him and long, the im is the event for me, brooks, hren, polazzo, reardon, delgado! also the mr with iggy, x and ua

Don't count hendricks out of the 500 at the state level, I'm also looking forward for Ryan Bailey and Ian Wooley competing for a state championship in the 100 fly

200 MR- St. X, Kings, Talawanda
200 free- Jack Hendricks, St. X- Bryan McNamara, Lakota West- Tommy Cope, Vandalia Butler
200 IM- Josh Brooks, Centerville- Matthew McDonald, Lakota East- James Delgado, St. X
50 free- Zachary Fisher, Walnut Hills- Grant Johnson, St. X- Eric Chen, Mason
100 fly- Ian Wooley, St. X- Andrew Cole, Xenia- Mark Hancher, Sycamore
100 free- Zachary Fisher, Walnut Hills- Grant Johnson, St. X- Charlie Fry, Sycamore
500 free- Bryan McNamara, Lakota West- Josh Brooks, Centerville- Jack Hendricks, St. X
200 FR- St. X, Moeller, Centerville
100 back- Henrik Pohlmann, Beavercreek- Ian Wooley, St. X- Jimmy Koloseike, Kings
100 breast- Scott Richmond, Talawanda- Steve Russo, St. X- Corey Beinhart, Centerville
400 FR- St. X, Moeller, Sycamore
Team Results: St. X, Moeller, Sycamore

Nothing too crazy, any disagreements?

You will have to factor in who will be tapered and shaved for districts. Also Centerville will be in the mix for the 400 free relay and the team results. The 200 and the 500 are so deep this year that I think there will be a surprise victor in each of those events.

Those events were the hardest to predict by far, I just went with the vets for the most part. And as for Centerville, while they do have Brooks, I thing overall Sycamore is a deeper team. Also, I'm willing to bet Brooks will still be wearing a speedo and won't be fully tapered. I could be wrong though.

St. X scores 445 points based on the sectional times. They could even have every individual swim score...something they've never done. That would be quite a feat in the fastest district in the state. It should be a battle for second. There Centerville may have the edge as they scored 36 points in diving while Moeller didn't have any divers and they have more room to move up in the relays.

Bombers find a way to score, a few great swims in the beginning and they will start rallying off one another.

Its impossible to be able to tell a surprise swimmer, hint the word surprise.

I think if the big guys listed in the 500 try to swim through the meet untapered/unshaven then it's very possible one of the young guys could pull off a monster swim and win. You know the freshmen from Anderson and X and the sophomores from Moeller, Lakota East, Middletown and Mason are all capable of a sub 4:40 swim.

The 200 is going to be a fast event. I think the 3rd heat is going to be a great race. Watch out for Kevin George posting a fast time as he has some of his club teammates that will push him in that heat. Kevin can also be a threat to win the 500.

I did nail that prediction. Thought he would go fast but didn't expect him to be that fast.

The whole meet was fast. Great races all night long. The other districts are going to have to swim real fast to get their boys to state.

The 200 free was just outstanding a huge shock to see that many go under last years state time, 20 of them did the other districts will be lucky I get 3 or 4 each in that event

20 kids went under the time it took last year to make state in the 200!
Break out swimmers include Kevin George of moeller and Jack German of little miami, both sophomores.

Once again, St. Francis has been gracious and is allowing some other school to win the 200 free relay, as they had another false start on one of the exchanges. They were on pace to come close or break the state 200 free record. Oh well, as they say, there is always next year!!!

Kudos to the St. Francis swim family for their performance at the new and improved Northwest District-now the largest. Needless to say a lot of changes have taken place during the past 8 months, and the swimmers have managed to stay focused on the task at hand. There are many fine swim programs competing in the Northwest District and the tradition of St. Francis looks to continue.

Looks like UA may again benefit from a St. Francis false start - this time at the district meet instead of the state meet. Guess as the saying goes, that's why they swim the meet. Unfortunate for St. Francis. Looks like they swam lights out otherwise.

With or without their 200 relay the best St. Francis could hope for is third. We will swim the meet to show that UA has returned to the top. Look out X the Bears have arrived!!! And this week they'll be fully rested.
