Some states do have their governing body as an actual government office. Now talks are in the works to do the same to the OHSAA.
Sadly the voters only vote for clowns from two parties that have a history of sucking.Don't these clowns have better things to do? Is the state in such great shape that the legislators can try to take over hs sports? Do your jobs, buffoons.
True. When it comes down to it, the voters are to blame. They just vote by the letter after the name ( R or D). But, the clowns that are in office are, presumably, supposed to do what the fools put them in office to do, not just grandstand with stuff like this, and fundraise. Leave that to the grifters on the national level.Sadly the voters only vote for clowns from two parties that have a history of sucking.
The legislature would not be doing this if they were not hearing complaints from their constituents. OHSAA's excuse for 15.00 dollar tix is laughable don't want to have $1.00 bills in the change box ok if that is true make the cash tix. 10.00 dollars.Don't these clowns have better things to do? Is the state in such great shape that the legislators can try to take over hs sports? Do your jobs, buffoons.

This. Don't our state politicians have something more important to worry about than the cost to attend HS athletic events? It's bad enough and now you want to interject politicians. Give me a break.
Amen. It's like when Congress investigated steroids in baseball.This. Don't our state politicians have something more important to worry about than the cost to attend HS athletic events?

“The OHSAA charges too much!”The legislature would not be doing this if they were not hearing complaints from their constituents. OHSAA's excuse for 15.00 dollar tix is laughable don't want to have $1.00 bills in the change box ok if that is true make the cash tix. 10.00 dollars.
What do you mean by that? The chief proponent: Rep. Jay Edwards (R-Nelsonville)
Absolutely nothing needs tending in Athens County. Just ask Joe Burrow.
Nelsonville is a city in northwestern Athens County, Ohio, United States, located about 60 miles southeast of Columbus. The population was 5,373 at the 2020 census
Here's the reason for the sudden interest in the takeover: 7 Nelsonville-York (8-3) at 2 West Jefferson (10-1) Second round.
He's doing this to get votes from the football fans.
Keep up the good work Rep Edwards glad somebody is looking out for the middle class and people on fixed incomes.Hey, Rep Edwards, why don’t you work on fixing school funding, which has been unconstitutional since the 1900s, restoring the faith of the voters after the bribery scandals, and making life for Ohioans better rather than this grandstanding.
if any of us were told by a judge to do something and ignored those orders, we would be in jail.
That's what he would have you believe. He's hoping those middle class and people on fixed incomes will contribute to his re-election campaign..... and a lot more than $15. Doesn't anyone think that he would care if Nelsonville were not in the playoffs? Opportunism at its finest.Keep up the good work Rep Edwards glad somebody is looking out for the middle class and people on fixed incomes.
Surprisingly astute take.Edwards represents an area that still cares about high school sports and one where $15 tickets (and really, $12 tickets) present a financial hardship. Threatening a state takeover is a bridge too far (and probably a bluff) but I'm sure he's heard a lot from his constituents.
By raising their taxes by adding an entirely new government organization?Keep up the good work Rep Edwards glad somebody is looking out for the middle class and people on fixed incomes.

nah. This is the Ohio GOP, and nothing else. Dems haven’t had an inch of power in this state for a decade-plus.Sadly the voters only vote for clowns from two parties that have a history of sucking.
If they want to take something over because the prices are too high … how about taking over supermarkets … I believe that would help the middle class more than cost of football gamesKeep up the good work Rep Edwards glad somebody is looking out for the middle class and people on fixed incomes.
You have no evidence that taxes would need to be raised. I could just as easily state OHSAA board members are somehow lining their own pockets with the system as it stands.By raising their taxes by adding an entirely new government organization?
how does the state pay for things silly gooseYou have no evidence that taxes would need to be raised.
Revenue vs expenditure. If ticket revenue exceeds expenditures, no new taxes.how does the state pay for things silly goose
This.I mean they have done such a great job funding our public schools...we should surely trust them to run the OHSAA!
The state doesn’t pay for things like salaries and benefits, or facilities and fleets, by selling $12 tickets to football games. Your taxes are going up, or you’re getting a dramatically lower quality OHSAA if the state takes the reins.Revenue vs expenditure. If ticket revenue exceeds expenditures, no new taxes.
