Recreational Marijuana in Ohio

Anyone here actually ever been to a legal rec dispensary? I have and the only retail space that has better customer service in my eye is Chick Fil A, I will say the industry in general is very well run and the purchasing experience is much better than buying it from the "weed guy". That alone makes legalizing it worth it. But I actually go back and forth on legal rec cannabis in Ohio. On the one hand folks are going to get it one way or another so while the tax $s are not all they claim to be it is still something, plus the control of product and ability of law enforcement to not have to worry about hassling folks on small possession amounts have some serious benefits. The down side is the stuff can be very potent these days and I am not sure armatures have the ability to deal with some of the stronger product that is available. The good news is like craft beers and spirits the potency is listed on the packaging and the personnel in most dispensaries will guide newbies down the right path.

Anyway you look at it cannabis is not going away so the state might as well get a few shekels out of the deal.
I went to the store in Vegas and it was the best retail experince I can recall. The store was two levels and the display cases reminded you of the highest end jewelry store imaginable. Once you checked in, you got a private "budtender" who asked about your preferences and guided you around the store. Top notch.

I really don't care how well run it is. When you dispense something that has a profound affect on people and their ability to conduct their lives, the last thing I want to do is make it readily available. Most people never touched the stuff because it was illegal and it took some effort to get it. I suppose if we get to a point where 25-30% of the state is dopeheads, unemployed and a drain to society, maybe lawmakers will wake up. How is law enforcement going to get easier? More people addicted, more issues gaining and maintaining employment, therefore stealing. Why are cars in neighborhoods broken into? Loose change and anything else dopeheads can find to sell and get money to support their habit.
But my bigger issue is many times it turns into being hooked on more powerful and detrimental drugs.

The pot sold in stores most likely will be too expensive for kids to pay for however I would rather have people buy the real stuff than pot laced with another drug.
I attended a Medical Marijuana convention when it was first legalized in Ohio. One of the guys that grew it and handled delivery was making all these excuses on why it was so expensive. I said when it was being debated one of the arguments for it was that cost would come down. He went on and on about how expensive it was to grow and handle it becaue of government regulation. He really got pissed when I said as long as the cost are so high for Medical Marijuana you're still going to have a black market for it.

It looks as if, one out of every ten houses, someone is a weed smoker, Most are good at hiding it, I have been self employed 16 years now, in lawn and landscaping, some of the people I have met, I would have never thought of them being a weed smoker,

The article said 25% of THC users are daily users. A higher percentage than meth or heroin. Are they trying to say weed is more addictive than heroin or meth? That's ridiculous. I doubt any heroin or meth users are taking these kind of surveys.

Also the article said their were over 800,000 emergency room visits for marijuana use. What are they being treated for? I've smoked nearly every day for 18 years and have never been to the emergency room. You can't overdose. Are they just getting paranoid and having anxiety attacks? That I get, but give it 45 minutes to an hour and you will snap out of it. No reason to dial 911. Not sure how they treat you at a hospital for being too high on weed.
Smoked every day for 18 years...but it's not at all addictive.

Side note: name makes alot of sense now.

No people want it legalized so they can smoke it or support the rights of others to be able to smoke it. what you don't understand is young people will get pot regardless the problem is it very well could be laced with something, store bought or if you grow your own you know what is in it nothing but pure joy. And I don't need big brother or you to tell me what I can smoke and can't smoke.
So I can have lead paint and CFCs back?

Heroin and meth aren't going away, let's legalize it so we can tax it too. What could go wrong?

I said that from the beginning. Legitimate business has regulations and overhead driving cost...dude slinging it on the corner doesn't.

The idea that legalization would kill the underground trade is laughable.

I never said it wasn't addictive. The article suggests its more addictive than meth or heroin, two substances that are physically addicting. If I don't smoke for a day I'm not getting dope sick like a meth or heroin user.

Looks like it really could be on the ballot this time. Would you vote for or against it?
A 21 year old kid high on marijuana fell asleep and killed my 21 year old by crashing head on into him. So, put me down as a hard "no".

Recent research shows that, in contradiction to 30 years of legalization talking points, this "harmless drug" is addictive and creates psychosis at a high rate. So, put me down as a "hell to the no".

Its also kind of amusing that after spending the last 20 years doing all but outright banning tobacco cigarettes there's this push to incorporate pot smoking into society
I'd venture a guess and say that a large number of users aren't smoking it, but ingesting it in other ways.

I saw someone commented earlier, but it's ironic I guess that there's this huge push for legalizing weed, yet most places are banning smoking and tobacco. And even vaping in some places. Sometimes I think we just chase our tails like dogs.

Love how the so called freedom lovers have become the "can't do this can't do that" party.

I'm almost 60 but I am "not allowed" to do what most teenagers do, and what most teenagers did clear back when I was a teenager. Lol. Whatever.

Its probably like Covid, if it's in your system it gets marked even though you really OD on Oxy.
