More Houses Near Elder Razed

It’s a stretch but Elder could argue that their expansion would be economically beneficial to Price Hill.
Elder couldn't use eminent domain. They are a private institution. Eminent domain pertains to government entities buying property for public use.

That’s my point, if as an institution, you have enough power, “public utility” can be liberally applied. Elder doesn’t carry as much weight as Ohio St does in Cbus, but there’s enough connections to ppl higher up in the city that could possibly make this happen.
OSU is a public school, huge difference.

Its has been years since I traveled through the old Elder High School Campus. When I do a Google Maps of the area and then seeing the aerial view EHS2001 provided of the campus makes my jaw drop o_O. Very impressive. When I was there, the campus still had the original windows, high ceilings and old dirt grass field but the Fieldhouse was just made. Its all good...

I’ve heard that 1134 is working with Oak Hills to sell the house to them. Oak Hills is looking to set up a Price Hill recruiting station right there in Elder’s shadow. Look for a new billboard to go up in the backyard soon.

This would lead to Pboy being banned for life from Elder or a heart attack ???

It was announced at the sports stag tonight that Elder recently purchased three pieces of property:
  1. 1041 Regina - This is the brown/tan house next to the handicap parking lot behind the home side stands that Elder established about 10 years ago.
  2. 1037 Regina - This is the purple and white house immediately behind the press box.
  3. The original Skyline property - This is located on the opposite side of Glenway from Elder and Seton and has been vacant for about 20 years since the Price Hill Skyline relocated to Warsaw Ave.
With these acquisitions, Elder now owns all but two lots behind the home side of the stadium--1029 which is the small house around the 10 yard line of the horseshoe end and 1025 which is the house with the large deck.

Looks like Elder is doing the same thing like what UC is doing by buying up all the property next to the campus. Very interesting indeed.
What could be done with the old Skyline property:unsure:

I hope they keep 1037 as a house. That is part of the charm of The Pit being in a neighborhood. 1041 can be torn down it is in pretty ruff shape. Hopefully Elder uses the land to build a new double decker press box with a crows nest on top.

I think that’s the plan for now: to tear down 1041 and keep 1037 for the reasons you mentioned.

From your lips to God’s ears.

Wow, it's been a while since I was in this building. If I recall, it's a multiple story building?

Trying to think what they would do with it as I doubt they would want students or staff going over there on a day-today basis. Maybe a shared community or drama space with Seton? Band or glee club center? Storage?

Interested to see what they do with it?

How about expanding the Disabled and Elderly Parking area for $10 and have it attended by a student so more people can use it.
That would be good. I don’t have an exact idea on what it should be but a hockey rink wouldn’t be cost effective.

New sports venue? Hockey rink or natatorium?
I would imagine Elder would use the pool being built in Delhi at the former Remke/Aldi location as Delhi is going to let Oak Hills use it as their pool. It would make sense for them to lease it out to Elder and Seton as well so they can actually host swim meets.

Elder might be able to make some money off a rink. Cincinnati only has 5 sheets of ICE in the 275 belt loop. Northlands and Sports plus are all busy all the time. The Skyline property is probably too small for a NHL sheet of ice.
I have no idea what the cost of maintenance for ice rink is, but I'm sure utilities would be astronomical keeping the ice frozen.

It would be super cool to have.

But im with you, I don't think that property is anywhere big enough for a rink.

What happened to OHHS's pool?

It is still being used but it is only 4 lanes whereas every other competition pool is 6. It is also a money pit currently due to its age, and has been for probably 20 years.

Lastly, where the swimmers dive in for races is only 4 ft. deep, which has been an obvious safety problem since it's been there. It's a miracle nobody has been seriously hurt ever.

Wait, a pool is going there? I thought it was like multi family apartments/condos. Maybe it's both.

I think it’s both. Apartments more towards the front near Dunkin’, Wild Mikes and Arby’s. Rec center, pool, township offices, etc. in the back. This is assuming the plan from 2021 is still the plan. Didn’t see anything to suggest otherwise, though.

That is my understanding as well.

1041 Regina has been torn down.
