Coldwater lost to Russia.Coldwater too
Just lost 59-47 to Jackson Center as well. Anyone keeping track of the SCL vs MAC this season? I know it’s early, but it’s gotta be pretty lopsided.Coldwater lost to Russia.

Many here know way more about MAC history than I do but does he have a chance to be considered the best MAC player of all time before his career is over.
Depends on what someone considers the best. New Knoxville had Eschmeyer who played in the NBA. St. Henry had Bobby Hoying who could handle the ball, shoot, rebound, block shots, same with Nate Bruns at Marion Local. Personally, I would prefer players like Bruns, Hoying that can do basically everything on a bball court. Of course, those type of players are very rare as is Elwer, but Elwer is not the same type of player as those two. Many here know way more about MAC history than I do but does he have a chance to be considered the best MAC player of all time before his career is over.
Who is considered among the best to ever play in the MAC?
I would think that percentage would approach/surpass a state (if not national) record!2025 MAC Boys Basketball Leaderboard - January 2.pdf

DSJ shooting 86% from the foul line as a team (86 - 100) ML just 48%. Though the Flyers shot much better at the FT line vs Versailles.
I think the other crazy number is that they're shooting almost 50% AS A TEAM from 32025 MAC Boys Basketball Leaderboard - January 2.pdf

How about a step further.... what was the best MAC team ever? There's been a bunch that I can remember and plenty more that I don't. For me it has to be 2008 New Knoxville. They obliterated everyone. They were talented, disciplined and deep. I think they had 5 guys average double figures that year. Not to mention their point man, whose name I can't remember, was an absolute menace.Depends on what someone considers the best. New Knoxville had Eschmeyer who played in the NBA. 1990-1991 St Henry team is IMO the best. 3 D1 guys and two that played in the NFL (Hoying and Scott Brunswick for a shot with the Cowboys). I’ve said that before but they are the gold standard I believe for MAC teams. They also obliterated everyone and only lost two games in two years (both years lost to Van Wert in classic games). How about a step further.... what was the best MAC team ever? Ahrens brothers can't be overlooked. Justin holds all-time record in scoring in the MAC. Kyle would have broken it easily if not for missing practically his entire Jr. season. Both played high level D1 hoops. Many here know way more about MAC history than I do but does he have a chance to be considered the best MAC player of all time before his career is over.

It would be difficult to argue with Kyle Ahrens or Evan Eschmeyer as the best basketball players coming out of the MAC. I did not live in the area when Bobby Hoying played nor do I know if he was as highly recruited in basketball, like he was for football. Both Ahrens and Eschmeyer were recruited by high level college basketball teams. I don't believe Elwer is getting recruited by the same high level college teams that these two did.Ahrens brothers can't be overlooked. Justin holds all-time record in scoring in the MAC. I am not sure using what colleges are recruiting a player is big factor to determine who is the best HS player. It makes sense to consider it but far from top factor. It would be difficult to argue with Kyle Ahrens or Evan Eschmeyer as the best basketball players coming out of the MAC. If we are talking about the best player to ever come out of the MAC, what factors should be used? All time leading MAC scorer? The DSJ scoring record, Elwer just broke, was a big deal, Alan K was a highly recruited player in high school. We both more than likely would agree, there are really good high school players but not necessarily good college players, and vice versa. I guess I am saying if you are not a good enough high school player to get recruited by the major college basketball teams, how can that player be deemed the best ever in the MAC?I am not sure using what colleges are recruiting a player is big factor to determine who is the best HS player. 2015 has to be the best class of kids to come through the MAC. Coldwater lost to Russia.
Plus it had Bruns, a D3 All American and Carson Manger from Bremen played D2 up in Michigan somewhere.2015 has to be the best class of kids to come through the MAC. Kyle Ahrens, Ryan Mikesell, Luke Knapke all D1
CW had a late start to bball due to football. The Cavs play a tough non-league schedule.Cavs gotta rebound. I felt that they can play better. We will see next game.
