How is the Midwest Athletic Conference looking for this upcoming season? I know that DSJ and Coldwater are probably the 2 best teams in the conference. I think it'll be a deep conference this upcoming winter as expected.
I would put Minster over Coldwater at this point in time but I do think Coldwater will be very good. I'm interested to see DSJ. They will obviously be solid with Elwer on the roster however I think the loss of the Moenter kid is big. I don't recall another big that could fill his role. Marion Local is also going to very good that I don't think enough realize. They have the Niekamp kid as well as a bunch of pieces. Keep in mind their JV and Freshmen teams have been very good for a few years in a row now. Parkway will be solid however they don't have a lot of size. They have some pieces coming back but they need to enjoy the upcoming season because, it's going to be a real struggle for a few years after that. New Knoxville will be interesting to follow as I felt like they started taking steps last year and now they have a solid freshmen class that will probably play some varsity minutes. Saying all of that, this is how I would predict the conference as of today:How is the Midwest Athletic Conference looking for this upcoming season? When has Versailles ever finished that low? They have the 2nd best back court in the conference behind DSJ. I would say that's pretty close to what I had. Mine is:I would put Minster over Coldwater at this point in time but I do think Coldwater will be very good. I'm interested to see DSJ. Tough league, something tells me Versailles will get in top 4.
You are correct though. I didn't realize they had all of those guys coming back. I would put them in that 5th spot. When has Versailles ever finished that low? They have the 2nd best back court in the conference behind DSJ. Just a crazy take.
Where is your list? I agree V will likely finish higher than 8th although Ahrens was injured in football. Otherwise, PW list looks solid, Minster and ML will be improved at the guard position and they both have something DSJ does not have height. PW is correct ML has talent in the lower grades, JV team lost just once, and frosh was undefeated. And yes, I am a Marion Local homer. When has Versailles ever finished that low? Is Cam a senior this seasonCam Elwer's point total so far
39 points against Van Wert (W 74-73)
24 points against Kalida (W 70-58)
30 points against Elida (W 75-47)

In the "25 point club" post they could just list his name and then the entire DSJ schedule and just delete the few games all year he will be under 25.Cam Elwer's point total so far

He is a junior. His brother is a sophomore. I believe there is another Elwer brother that is a freshman this yearIs Cam a senior this season
Cousin.I believe there is another Elwer brother that is a freshman this year
Agree with this DSJ could have banner year. Local is very used to the last start. Will Knoxville ever get out of the basement.1. Minster
2. Marion Local
3. DSJ
4. Coldwater
5. Versailles
6. St. Henry
7. New Bremen
8. Parkway
9. Fort recovery
10. New Knoxville
there are two more Elwers in 8th grade. I think one is Cam's brother and the other a cousin. It's possible, but won't happen, that DSJ could start five Elwers for a game next year.He is a junior. His brother is a sophomore. I believe there is another Elwer brother that is a freshman this year
Yeah, and then play Spencerville with a couple Sensabaugh’s and the radio announcers will have to get creative in calling the game. Or they can play Wayne Trace with a team full of Linder’s, Sinn’s, and Laukhuf’s. Gotta love small town basketball.there are two more Elwers in 8th grade. Both teams had a long football playoff run. It's a shame this game isn't later in the season when both teams are out of football conditioning and fully into basketball. The game wasn't that close last year, but minster brought pretty much everyone back.DSJ @ Minster tonight. Early league game that has "huge" league championship implications for lack of better words.
Minster played without Stephey and Schwieterman, and Minster appeared to still have their football legs. Big win for DSJ.DSJ 73
Minster 49
'Jays led 40-19 at half hitting 8 3's. Only 1 3-pointer in the second half as 'Jays attacked the basket. Led by as many as 27.
Cam Elwer 26, Andrew Elwer 14, Easton Elwer 5. DSJ played without starting PG Tyce McClain. Big win for the 'Jays!!
I don’t believe DSJ has many football players on the basketball roster, does it?Both teams had a long football playoff run. 3 Elwers started for DSJ last night, don't think any of them played football. For Minster the only non-football starter I believe was McClure who non coincidentally was Minster's leading scorer.I don’t believe DSJ has many football players on the basketball roster, does it?

Edit: I find it hard to believe a small school like DSJ doesn't have anyone on the varsity bball roster that plays football.
