MAC 2024-25

3 Elwers started for DSJ last night, don't think any of them played football. For Minster the only non-football starter I believe was McClure who non coincidentally was Minster's leading scorer.

Edit: I find it hard to believe a small school like DSJ doesn't have anyone on the varsity bball roster that plays football.
starting PG Tyce McClain was an all state golfer. 6th man Drew Boggs was our QB. Alex Herron was a defensive end. Jr. Ian Fairchild (JV) golfed. Jr. Austin Arnold (JV) played football. Some sophs and freshmen played other fall sports. Aaron Elwer was QB on one of our state champ FB teams and PG on a state runner-up basketball team. His sons are very talented basketball players and not worth the risk of injury to play football.

We've been through the late starts from FB several times. It takes some time, you just gotta work through it. You're much better after the first game, even better after the second and go from there. In 98 we opened BB season with a MAC game two weeks after the football state title game. We looked awful and lost. Started 1-3 but were MAC co-champs and state runner-up

It seems they rotated the MAC schedule this year but curious as to why we play some teams at home again this year and some teams on the road again. DSJ is home again vs St. Henry and Marion Local and at Minster and Parkway again.
Has the MAC ever seriously considered playing more league games in basketball and volleyball? I know having 10 teams majes the home and home difficult. Just curious if they've ever considered it

DSJ has teams on the schedule we've played for decades and newer teams that are very good rivals. I would not want to lose any of them just to play a MAC team twice.

Marion Local plays Fort Recovery and St. Henry twice, in league and non league (119 challenge). Scheduling in bball however is not as difficult as football. No expectation for any team in bball to go undefeated or suffer just one loss. Most small schools are not overwhelmed in bball vs some MAC schools like they are in football. Take Marion Local for ex., loss to Spencerville during the regular season in bball last season but in football the game would be very lopsided.

Tough break for Minster playing DSJ and Russia back to back
You ain't kidding. Those are 2 teams that I could easily see playing in columbus.

Everyone expected DSJ to be very good again, but Russia lost a lot to graduation. It's early but it appears that they've just reloaded.

It's not fair to me and I know they have alot of teams in there league, but if you play a home and home league games it gives you a true league championship ,if would lose to a team at there place then you got that chance to get them at your place, and I realize that doesn't give you many non-league games

I follow a league that does home and home and I hate it. Hate playing teams twice in the same season.

Makes it easy for lazy AD's tho.

Disagree makes for bigger gates. ML over the years (not always) has played SH twice in a season one league game, one non league game. Used to be this game was always a sellout not anymore but still one of the bigger gates that either school will have. The 119 challenge was formed I suppose with that in mind more tix revenue.
