Hoban '23

My opinion on Tyrell staying or going is probably 50/50. I have asked many people close to him and some say he will be in college soon and some say he and his family are very happy. I think it depends on the job. I don’t think he will go to be an assistant at a MAC type school. Maybe a assistant at a P5 or head coach at a smaller school. Just my opinion!

I like a good debate! Hoban has never and will never get every kid they want. Walsh is a very good school with a good coach, they will continue to pluck kids who are good players. I still think Walsh and St. V compare and want to be like Hoban football. It’s the same reason Hoban can’t beat St. V in basketball, they are always worried about what Dru is doing instead of worrying about themselves. You as a St. Ed’s fan should know that. Ed’s doesn’t give a _____ about anyone other than themselves, that’s why they win!
Fact check. Hoban beat the 2018 St V state champs in basketball. Last time St V beat Hoban in football was 2014. Hoban also has won a baseball, basketball and Golf state championship in past 3 years as well.

No different than Richmond hts, Glenville, Garfield , Cleveland hts. Some years just in basketball they will get 3 new starters out of no where!
Catholic schools recruit out of middle school.
Public power schools recruit after 9th grade!
Ok it’s way different. But let’s everyone play stupid. But at least we’re acknowledging the Catholic recruiting process. And it’s different than what public’s can do. A handful of kids compared to an all star team picked. I really don’t care about it other than people try to deny it and pretend it’s not an advantage.

Show me what was said that had my privileges suspended? One day it just said "you have insufficient privileges ". Echo chamber for your fans who do not want to hear other opinions or have a healthy debate.
I can't show you because I am not an administrator/mod, what I can tell you is that with your constant negative takes on any and everything Massillon (since you guys left) don't expect us to believe that a thread ban wasn't deserved.

The way it works is if a kid attends Catholic school
He’s in Catholic school data base all the Catholic schools go after the kids. They are in a faith based school already and it’s fair game. Now catholic schools hold free football camps and if public school kids attend they go into data base of school to contact parents and kids. Not sure how that’s recruiting, plus they get a lot of public school parents shopping Catholic schools to just kick the tires. Once they shadow the school, schools can reach out. You make it sound like these powerhouse schools are attending middleschool football games passing out money. To recruit!
Farthest from the truth. When in actuality winning attracts winners. Very similar to Massilon who has great tradition. So athletic families seek out and move to your district. No different than a baseball player who is faith based wanting to play baseball at let’s say Walsh. Which has great baseball tradition. So let’s just be transparent as you say.
Recruiting is a strong word. Let’s just say you can’t win todays games with yesterdays scores. That’s why ignatious is struggling last few years.
Football kids leaving that school for other options.
But let them string a few strong seasons together and kids will return in bunches. Not recruiting but winning!

All I’m going to say is Hoban had the best Qb since hamm’s departure but that offensive coordinator failed to maximize his talents and maximize the rest of the wide receivers and tight ends on that offense. Yes their run game was great, runningback was great, one of the best in the state. But you can’t be a one dimensional offense and that’s why Hoban has failed to win a state title the last 2 years.

Isn’t this implying that Hoban gets the bulk of its players from the catholic feeder schools and that there are very few Akron city public school kids going there? Looking at their starting lineup I have a real hard time believing that those kids are faith based Catholics…

I did agree with a lot of what you said though and maybe I’m interpreting that part incorrectly.

Side note, didn’t Tyrell get in a little bit of trouble the other year for going into middle school cafeterias to talk to kids about coming to Hoban to play football?

I don't expect you to believe anything I would say. I have merely defended Hoban and shed light on information I know from having a student athlete attend there. What comments are worthy of being banned from a thread? Disagreeing or posting an opinion that doesn't support Massillon? It's called an echo chamber. I am happy to discuss/debate anyone on any thread if I have an opinion. I thought that was what this was for?

I totally agree with your last statement. That has also been an issue for Massillon in the semi finals and finals, too one dimensional. The best teams can usually stop 1 thing.

You have to recognize the inferiority complex coming from that fanbase. Anything pro-Hoban (or any school for that matter) on that thread is immediately perceived as anti-Massillon. You're clearly not one of the Massillon homers so anything you say there is looked at under a microscope.

For example, recently someone posted a Massillon baseball score in that thread. No commentary. Just a score. Massillon fans have posted scores many times regardless of outcome and they weren't deleted. Since it wasn't a Massillon fan posting this particular score, it was promptly deleted. There's a reason why the Massillon protected thread is often called the snowflake thread.

There is a TON of truth to this post.

You also get a lot of public school kids whose parents want a faith based education and let's face it, the Catholics know how to do that very well. That goes for failing public schools and inner city kids whose parents want better for them.

Terrell's slap on the wrist was in 2016 I believe and he had to sit out a few playoff games and a small fine. See below from AB article

“The contact occurred at a local grade school in an open, public place during a visit that was authorized by the grade school administration. Upon review shortly after the meeting, the administration and Coach Tyrrell recognized how it could be interpreted as a violation and immediately accepted responsibility for the mistake.”

here is the rest of the article that mentions your coach as well.

Tyrrell confirmed to the Beacon Journal the school is appealing, but declined to further comment. His suspension for the playoffs marks the second such decision this season from the OHSAA. Massillon Washington coach Nate Moore also is out for the playoffs, if the Tigers make it, as part of a ruling on the eligibility of senior lineman Thayer Munford.

In that case, Munford transferred from Cincinnati La Salle – where Moore previously coached – and currently lives with Moore's family. Massillon

At least Tyrrell didn't have the middle school kid living in his home. Lol.

Kind of like your coach and school getting in trouble for bringing in an offensive lineman from Cincinnati?

Ahh nice to have circled back to bashing Nate Moore for literally adopting a kid

Apparently getting a kid out of a bad situation, adopting him into your family, helping him turn around his academics enough to go to college, resulting in him getting to play for Ohio state and now have a career in the nfl is WORSE than trying to recruit middle schoolers during lunch 😂😂😂

Inferiority complex? Care to compare the times you've typed the word "Massillon" and any of us have typed the word "Walsh?" You're anti Massillon diatribe is a perfect example of why there needs to be a "protected thread."

If you weren’t so obsessed with Massillon then you would never post about us…..as we all can see that will never be the case.

This is why Massillon has its own thread, because people like an ex Tiger can’t stop talking about Massillon. They hated it so much that they left or couldn’t handle the pressure and yet are still hanging on. 🙄

I’m not familiar with hobans city kids. But I know they have a relationship with Akron armor top pop Warner team. But with that said . If Hoban coaches attend a pop Warner game. They would wear Hoban gear .. letting parents and kids No that they are coaches. The coaches would not be allowed to approach kids or parents. But if a parent approached the coaches , the coaches could talk to the parents. Letting them know about the opportunity to play for the school. Now am I saying a coach here and their don’t break the rules.
I’m sure they do. But most do not. To much to lose

Inferiority complex and sensitive. I was just trying to explain to cougarfan why he got banned.

What other fanbase would still call itself City of Champions despite 0 for 51?
What other fanbase would be so offended by a score that they had to have it deleted?
What other fanbase would call out other schools for cheating in the football forum (even though that other school was never guilty of cheating in football) and despite being fans of a school guilty of cheating in football multiple times?

What other fanbase? There is only one.
