Great wrestling in Cincinnati this weekend!

Who chose these pools? Moeller falls into a bit more laxed pool than all others. How in the world did they seed this thing? Logic must not have been invited this seeding meeting. Did the coaches have to send in stats for this thing in advance? Why wouldn't they seed or draw pools the day of the event? Only thing I can come up with is that someone forgot to sed in their info and screwed up the whole thing. I don't see this being anywhere close to accurate.

Mat 1(Pool A): Springboro vs. Lousiville, St. X; Wadsworth vs. Louisville St. X; Wadsworth vs. Springboro
Mat 2 (Pool B): Westerville N vs. Stafford; Moeller vs. Stafford; Moeller vs. Westerville N
Mat 3 (Pool C): Fairfield vs. Liberty; Father Ryan vs. Liberty; Father Ryan vs. Fairfield
Mat 4 (Pool D): Mason vs. Trinity; Elyria vs. Trinity; Elyria vs. Mason

Winner of Pool A wrestles the winner of Pool D. Winner of Pool B duals the winner of Pool C. Then the others are paired up, second place of pool A wrestles second place of pool D and so on. There are 6 rounds of wrestling.

So...Im expecting Wadsworth to wrestle Mason or Trinity in the semi's while Moeller will probably wrestle Father Ryan.

Then most likely Wadsworth and Moeller in the finals.

Looks like it might have been divided up by region (I noticed that Springboro, Mason, Moeller and Fairfield are all in seperate pools to start out) and all are local teams. I guess it makes sense so teams can see some different competition. It would have been nice to see a Moeller/Mason matchup since that dual has become a pretty heated rivalry over the last couple of years, but slim chance we'll see it unless each team reaches the finals. A Mason/ Fairfield match could be pretty interesting to see also. Fairfield is kind of a sleeper this year.....but probably not for long!

sounds like you don't know anything about wrestling!

Does anyone know if there will be a be a web-cast of the scores? If not perhaps some one will post updates on Saturday?

Probably right. I'd guess folks would want to see a Moeller/Wadsworth final, which could have been a consideration in seeding. The Mason/Moeller "rivalry" won't truly become heated until Mason makes the score a bit closer. Fairfield will be tough this year, possibly the best Fairfield team we've seen in a while.

Equitable distribution...

To my untrained eye, it looks like the pools were set up to separate the SW Ohio teams from each other, the northern (including Columbus) Ohio teams from each other, and the out of state teams from each other. If you look at it closely, then each pool has one SW Ohio team, one northern Ohio team, and one out of state team.

Mat 1(Pool A): Springboro vs. Lousiville St. X; Wadsworth vs. Louisville St. X; Wadsworth vs. Springboro
Mat 2 (Pool B): Westerville N vs. Stafford; Moeller vs. Stafford; Moeller vs. Westerville N

Mat 4 (Pool D): Mason vs. Trinity; Elyria vs. Trinity; Elyria vs. Mason

You are kidding right ?

Well there is an obvious choice, but there is a reason why they wrestle the matches. So thingrappler, you won't watch that match because you already know the outcome? I mean it's only Bucksman's #1 vs #2 in the first weekend of the season. You know, you're right. Sorry to bring a premier match up into the conversation.

Squire is the favorite and I think the winner, but I'm trying to get people to talk wrestling. Something you just failed at.

As good a job as Bucksman does, he got that one wrong. I don't think it will be a blowout mind you but, we'll see.

Well...just don't do it again! :D

Being from Wadsworth of course I am going to pick Squire...but this is a very interesting first week match-up. Should be a good test for both wrestlers. That is assuming Squire is at 125.

I agree Griz. The goal is to win the team match not treat the fans to idividual matches unless you conceed the contest either way and test your wrestler.

If G feels the need to assure a Squire win and to get a Warstler or Zollinger in the line up to push everyone up if Gordon is out he will do it. I for one would like to see it though.

Will there be seeding nominations at any of the tournaments going on this weekend or will they wait until later in the season to start the seeding? If they are seeding, what is the criteria?

Good point JJaf. Do you think Squire and Gray are both ready to slide down a weight class..and they are just waiting for Gordon to get healthy to come down? I am not sure exactly what their weights are, but if Gray comes down to he is going to be a very big 119.

If I remember correctly at Padua Gray did wrestle 119 and Squire's @ 125 until they faced Padua. Am I mistaken?

I think in at the end for State Gray is at 119 and Squire is 125 with Warstler and Zollinger gaining a lot of experience if Gordon is out a while.

Wadsworth is just so deep from 112-130 but thin elswhere.

I am anxious to see how our 103 does this weekend and Crowley at heavy. If Crowley stays healthy and keeps his head in it I see him as a sleeper to place at state. The 103 (can't think of his name) looked strong at Padua and from what I heard has not wrestled the last 1 if not 2 years. He looked very strong if that were the case and by the end of the year he may be peaking.

I watched 2 of the 3 rounds at Padua. Squire wrestled 130, Gray wrestled 125. Warstler and Zollinger took turns at 119. Baughman took Gordon's place. Schliegh was their 103. I agree- Crowley and Schliegh look strong.

Moeller and Mason will dual later on in the year. I dont expect it to be to close though. I think Elder has the best chance of any Cincinnati team to beat Moeller this year.

I do believe Mason beat Moeller at Sectionals last year when both teams had their best lineups together. Not trying to be a smart ----- but that sounds pretty close to me

I do believe Moeller beat Mason at District and Mason dissappeared at state...opps you forgot about that.....Mason is still no match for Moeller

True, and that "loss" smarted pretty bad. I was referring to duals though, where Mason has not put up much of a fight. Since you brought up single man bracket tournaments it would be prudent to look further than Sectionals where Mason edged Moeller. Moeller won Districts, beating 3rd place Mason by almost 40. Then there's State. Moeller finished 6th, with nearly triple the points "amassed" by 28th place Mason. That does not sound close to me. I know you were not trying to be a smart-------, but it does pay to do a bit of homework.

This is what I love about Yappi.......It is almost certain like Death and Taxes that someone will discredit what a newbie poster spontaneously posts in a thread. "Nanrump" consider this a lesson learned. A bit of research goes along way in this here forum. This is a lesson I learned the hard way as well. :D Very excited about the up and coming season, good luck to all those young men who have put in the time to reach their goals.

I have seen posts where Gorsek is at 130 and where Jeremy Artrip is at 130. I did not see him on Mason's certification. Is he wrestling and if so isn't 130 a big jump?

Gorsek was big this summer is why I don't think he'll be 130 but you never know and I'm talking about Jeremy not Jacob Artrip. I see Jacob's cert but not Jeremy is he still off the team or is he joining back with Murnen?

I heard Jeremy wasn't at the last scrimmage. Combined with the fact he is not on the certification site I am going to guess this is Mason smoke and mirrors.
