General NFL Chat

Hines Ward was a good wr, not great but a good wr. Hines Ward was a great football player, not just good but great.

The Steelers-Ravens football rivalry from 2000-2020 can not be told without mentioning Hines Ward.

Willie Anderson deserves to get in and has absolutely earned that right as well. If he hadn’t played for the Bengals it would be a matter of when not if.

Key game for me is the Jets at Cleveland. If the Browns lose that game, they don't deserve to be in the playoffs.
I just can't imagine the Browns lose this one today. Jets are a mess. Browns have a legit defense.

Big thing for the Browns is moving forward beyond this season. The have no choice but to play Watson because he's guaranteed all that money. Flacco has shown they didn't need to spend all that money on a QB. Also, their strength, defense, will have to start being pieced out as all those dudes want to get paid. Also, what's the ceiling for Miles Garrett? Is his best days right now?

Garrett's best days will come when NFL officials finally decide to call holding penalties.

Detroit suffers defeat because its macho coach refuses to kick the gimme field goal earlier in the game , but insists on going for it on fourth and goal from the six. Shades of Stefanski results in a defeat 20-19. Idiot.

Didn‘t watch the second half. What was the deal with the refs making an error on the Lions 2 pt conversion attempt?

Decker for the Lions reported as an eligible receiver, caught the 2 point conversation pass and then was flagged for illegal touching because the ref said he didn't report. Video evidence shows Decker talking to the ref and the ref saying something to the defense. Someone is lying!

Yeah, if Decker is telling the truth that zebra should be fired.

Detroit-Dallas officiating crew downgraded.

Good. I don't get frustrated with officials often, or least don't try to. But unlike for lawyers, there is no appeals court in the NFL. Get the calls right. I get mistakes happen sometimes but that entire sequence was officiating malpractice. That crew and the NFL has no other excuse other than "we screwed it up". Which is fine for a lot of calls, but not that one.

Does anyone think he would actually overturn the result and make the Cowboys lose? Browns-yes, Commanders-yes, Cowboys - AYK?

Was that power given to him after the no call in the Saints-Rams game in the playoffs?

What a dangerous precedent to set. I wouldn't do it unless it was a playoff game. But then that was such an egregious call by the refs last night it's hard to believe that it's allowed to stand.

Funny enough that it's the sports betting that probably holds that decision back and will make Goodell say it stands. The books would be livid if the NFL changed the result days after a bunch of people cashed out. Makes me think about what's in those contracts when you sign up for a sportsbook and whether they can take your money back after the league reverses a call.

There's also no denying that the NFL secretly loves the drama that call caused and we are all suckers for falling for it again.

Fallout from call. Not the first time for this crew:

The officiating crew that did not call a blatant and potentially game-deciding pass interference penalty during Sunday night's game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers game missed a similar call one week earlier in Atlanta on a play that harkened back to one of the most controversial non-calls in NFL history.

If there's one thing NFL fans dislike more than NFL referees, it's NFL officiating experts on television.

ESPN's NFL officiating expert, John Parry, defended the controversial ruling in the finish of the Cowboys vs. Lions game on Saturday evening. Parry placed the blame on the Lions for not making sure that the official knew who was reporting, rather than blaming the official for making a mistake.

I saw that on TV … I started yelling at the TV … my wife called me stupid (not arguing she right) … but it was one of the all-time stupid/bias takes I have seen about refs.

Ok let's play make believe today, you are the owner/ GM of an NFL team.

Would you hire Jim Harbaugh to coach your team??

I sure as heck know I wouldn't

Just looked at the playoff scenarios finally. Kind of amazing (sad?) that the Falcons and Vikings at 7-9 have chances to make it in the NFC, while in the AFC you have 9-7 teams that need to win to get to 10-7, plus get some help to get in.

Too lazy to look it up but wonder what the record of NFC v AFC games?

Update, AFC 46 wins, NFC 29 wins. Pretty significant disparity. And probably has something to do with these 7-9 teams still being in the hunt.

Why? Took 49ers to the SB with Kaepernick as QB.
I feel like that was a very different Jim Harbaugh. He's not that guy anymore and I don't know if there is more of a red flag for an NFL GM than instability. I just feel like with Harbaugh, it's going to be a circus and he wouldn't shy from it.
