General NFL Chat

I feel like that was a very different Jim Harbaugh. He's not that guy anymore and I don't know if there is more of a red flag for an NFL GM than instability. I just feel like with Harbaugh, it's going to be a circus and he wouldn't shy from it.
Incidentally, Jim Harbaugh just turned 60 a couple weeks ago. There are only 7 active NFL head coaches older than him. NFL owners and GMs have been going heavy on the whiz-kid coordinators lately. Frank Reich was the exception to that trend last offseason, and that didn't go well. Unless an owner thinks Harbaugh can pull off something similar to what Pete Carroll has done in Seattle at an advanced age, I'm not sure Harbaugh gets hired.

The only reason I would see a GM/ owner would hire Harbaugh is for the big splash element. I just think he's too unstable, quirky to be in that role. We see it guys, NFL coaches do countless pressers weekly. Harbaugh looks very uncomfortable answering basic questions asked of him. I just don't see it. I think the "talk" of him going to the NFL is a ploy for a big contract from Michigan (again).

That clown in Carolina will probably hire him, and pay him twice what anybody else would.

Harbaugh looks no worse the Bill Belicheck does during a press conference.

If an Owner/GM wants a culture change, Harbaugh is their guy.

The problem with the Carolina Panthers owner is his over involvement. Word is he has a 1 hour phone call every Monday with the head coach. There are only 32 NFL head coaching jobs and all of they have an obnoxious billionaire as their owner. I could see Harbaugh & the Carolina owner having a fallout by week 3!

All Harbaugh does is win, I would take hairball over 90% of the HCs in the NFL.

He does, no doubt about it. It’s also true that UM & Harbaugh kinda ducked OSU during the COVID year because of a high COVID count on the UM team…..and because OSU was probably a 21+ point favorite. If Harbaugh loses to OSU in a blowout who knows if he makes it to the 2021 season.

Harbaugh has lasted about 5 years at all of his previous stops, he simply wears on people. Change is probably good for him & the organization he is with after about 5 years. UM will lose a very talented group of guys to the NFL this year and their schedule is brutal next year - great time to leave if you Harbaugh as long as he can get one NFL owner to offer him a job.

He lost a key Scouting Staff member this year, too.

That may help him make the decision to leave.

hairball will go west, Raiders or Chargers, wild card would be the Pats.
Raiders would make sense if Mark Davis is looking for a big name. Chargers might be a better fit for Harbaugh. He'd have a talented QB, a last place schedule, and a division with a few suspect teams plus a KC team that has come back to the pack a bit this year. Chargers' main problem the past few years has been keeping all of their impact players healthy at the same time.

Jadaveon Clowney has made $83 million dollars in this underachieving career. Yesterday, he had a sack while his team was losing that earned him a $750K bonus. He proceeded to dance around like a fool. I think that tells you all you need to know about old Jadaveon.

I'm not sure the scenario, but the NFL potentially putting a Chiefs-Bills playoff game exclusively on Peacock is a nice middle finger to NFL fans everywhere. With the fading Eagles and hapless Bucs scheduled for MNF being a close 2nd.

It’s either going to be Pittsburgh or Miami at KC on Peacock. MNF has to be a 4 vs. 5 game, so the choices for MNF are limited.

Solid player. Had he never knocked off the helmet of the Michigan player on that one tackle in college we wouldn’t even be talking about him anymore.

Commanders move on from Rivera.

New owner named Rick Spielman and former GS Warriors GM to assist on the search. Got the #2 pick so will get a decent QB, could be a place for a bigger name. Belichick? Harbaugh?

I have no idea how the NFL can limit their viewership like this? I can only guess they have enough money and don't care. I don't have Amazon Prime and never watched a Thursday game all season. And I'm still alive.

Might be testing the waters on PPV?

The NFL already has their $$$ from the national tv contracts they have negotiated with FOX, NBC, CBS, ESPN/ABC and Amazon. It is the network(s) who decide to put it on the platform of their choice to enhance it and drive viewership to it. The viewership the networks advertisers want is 18-39 who actually spend $$$. I am guessing you (as am I) are not in the viewership segment they covet. I do have a 13 year old who will be able to put the game on the boob tube for me.

In this case, it's NBC deciding to put one of their scheduled games on Peacock exclusively. I assume it's a test balloon to see what they can get in ratings for a streaming only game. Like someone else said, choosing the Chiefs game is not surprising - they probably want to see if the Swift effect will create more subscribers to Peacock, if only for a month.
