First Set of Rankings for the 2024-25 Season - August 6

Just a heads up... tomorrow's update will be very early in the morning and then possibly again at night (if needed).

I made a couple more changes this evening (all of them are listed above). The most notable change is the LaSalle switch at 175 and 190, with Wooldridge and Thomas. It sounds like Thomas has decided to wrestle this season.

Also, I have recently heard that Bryce Kohler (Graham) does not plan on wrestling this season. I am not sure what exactly his plans are, but I will likely keep him ranked until the season starts (similar to my thought process with Thomas).

Thomas not wrestling you got bad Info. He is training at Indiana and is also wrestling College Opens.

I was told yesterday to swap their weights from a pretty solid source. I plan on keeping him ranked (and Kohler) until at least weight assessment time in November.

If you all want some entertaining reading, go look at the GFC Elite entry list and read all the ridiculous things people think are relevant in seeding criteria for a national tournament. mostly the dads of the 9th graders I'm guessing! citing OAC ES titles and Tulsa finishes, News flash nobody cares!

what weight? I got to he elite 135 and didn't see anything out of line
If an 8th grader wants to try to get in, he doesnt have a choice but to put multiple times Tulsa champ, US open placer kind of stuff. He cant put HS state placer as an 8th grader.
If Carter Smith 8th grader of now Perrysburg wants to put he made super 32 Ms finals as a 5th grader and has won Tulsa multiple times and is applying for seed at 95 pounds.. his youth info matters
It is a very select few that can put 3xer in HS down.
does beating a Fargo champ and runner up at the US open this year as an incoming 7th grader matter?

September 23 Update

D1: 144, 150, 190
D2: NONE
D3: 113
Something I keep thinking to ask... Maybe it's been asked before, but for preseason adjustments, can you format anyone that has moved in the list? I always have a tough time reviewing what actually changed and seeing who moved weights to where, etc... During the season, there would be too many changes to track unless you were able to automatically put the last ranking in quotes next to the name, but I assume that would be manual and it's already enough work on a weekly basis. As always thanks for the work and the updates!

You're missing the point, GFC is an open tournament there is no criteria to "get in", trying to get seed criteria in the tournament by using GS results is funny. I was looking at 152 specifically but I noticed it across many. Then I see actual hammers that just leave the space blank knowing if you want to win you have to beat them all anyhow.

Beating a Fargo champ and runner-up at US Open as a 7th grader speaks for itself, I doubt he's worried about where he is seeded at the grappler!

ok.. I was thinking you had to qualify and get in...never been there. I just looked after you posted to get a chuckle along with you. my son plays soccer and cross country so very hit and miss early on stuff.
next year in 8th grade I think he is going to cut it back. we will see... but Ill put that stuff for him.
It's really hard.
When your son was younger did you look at seeds? I really want to say they don't matter, but they do. Separating the best kids until later in tournaments is part of it

Nope my kid wasn’t very good! Maybe thats why I find it funny now.

Wasn't my conversation to jump in, but good conversation between you two and wanted to add my unsolicited two cents :) They make a big deal out of this at VAC for ES and JH with their program you get to submit for each kid, which is cool and probably the right venue and age to do that, but it's always funny to see the essays people feel the need to add. I get it, if you have seeding criteria based on results etc, have at it, but to your point many times studs won't put a thing, some of them do, but again, that's GS and JH, cool venue cool tournament over the years like many of the national ES and JH tourneys, but reason #199 why HS is different
