I honestly feel bad for Minster.

They were considerably better than every D-VII team in the state except for Marion - yet didn't even get to be regional champs.

Not the end of the world, of course, but the Cats were state champ material outside of only one school that fielded a once-in-a-half-century team.
have the same feeling for the 2019 Minster team, with Anna....

Congrats to the marion local maria Stein Flyers... what a fricken team!!!

How’s ML’s basketball team?
Always getting a late start, but they seem pretty good too. They won (or shared) the MAC boys basketball title two of the past three years. State Champs in 2018. Gotta believe with all the seniors and athleticism on their football team that some of that might carry over to the hardwood.

Don't we all ahaha.

Grandpa always said the only thing bigger than the house's in Minster was the amount of debt they took out to pay for them.
Take a drive around Mercer county... the Steiners, St Henry...have some BIG homes there are some BIG debt things going on there too..... LOL!!!

Minster says hello
My Volleyball friends from St. Henry say the same thing. Top 4 teams in the State. 1 Coldwater. 2 St. Henry 3 New Bremen. 4 Marion Local. All in the same Districts. It's an absolute bloodbath to get out of Districts and into Regionals and eventually to State. Coldwater wins it all but the talk is why is the Toughest games that these 4 teams have to play is in District and not at State? The 2 teams Coldwater played at State this year would get rolled by these other MAC schools. Press Pros Magazine touched on this earlier. The other parts of the State are absolutely no match for the MAC in volleyball and it's not even close. So St. Henry gets knocked out in Districts while being undoubtedly the 2nd best team in State. Will they change this up? I wouldn't count on it.

I know I know I kid. Pretty sure the only town Grandpa disliked more than Minster was St. Henry.

I go back to the delusional OH Report announcers while watching the Danville/Beaver regional final….thought Danville could be the team to finally take ML down. It’s just unbelievable people think like that. Mind blowing actually. With all of the film available on YouTube, HUDLfan, etc…do people not watch or are they really that stupid?

I was wondering the same this about that call. JV's were in but they threw it. I've known Goodwin to not have poor sportsmanship but that one did make me raise an eyebrow.
Freshman QB Soph WR get them started on next year(5 yard completion)

One thing to consider: you can watch through a screen, but if you have no understanding how good Minster, Coldwater, St. Henry, New Bremen etc is then you don’t have a frame of reference for just how good the ML product is.

The other component is you have to know the game of football in the process. Interestingly enough, many in the media do not! From schematics, to techniques, to details, those are all things that don’t cross a media member’s mind that is entrenched instead on W-L’s, Harbins, poll rankings etc. Not having a goldfish memory is also helpful (knowing recent history, comparison of regions etc.)

There’s a lot of blissful unawareness in our society, and in our media. If more outlets were willing to state the truth, no matter how unpopular it may be (a la Press Pros) we’d possibly have more informed people and better informed community groundswells for football programs statewide.

There will come a day when a team will do this to ML. Probably not anytime soon, but remember when DSJ was really good and won a title 77-0?

Happened in 96 or 97. DSJ beat ML 67 - 9 I believe. DSJ I think had over 700 yds. of offense that day. Before Goodwin ML football was struggling.

Edit: Happened in 98, year before Goodwin became HC.

You should have seen their reactions all day long in the booth next to me to the entire game as it was unfolding during their broadcast.

I listened to the re-broadcast too earlier to listen. Wow… We’re their reactions like disbelief?

I think we can all agree....football is our bread and butter and the other sports are sorta OK good.

But....this is our last hoorah as the MAC as a whole will be way, way, way, way down next year and the Steiners are our best and last hope at a football title.
LOL
