I got Kirtland by 9. 30-21

I think Kirtland and ML are extremely comparable but see CW overperforming today to keep it close.

Can any Kirtland fans answer me this, how many different MAC teams has Kirtland played now?

I believe they've played Coldwater 3 times now with a 1-1 record, ML 4 times with a 2-2 record and Minster with an 0-1 record

Edit: conveniently left out Versailles 1-1. Not sure how I could forget them. We got a SC top 10 out of that first game.

Nothing fancy. They’ve completed maybe 40 passes on the season & almost half have gone for touchdowns. They pick & choose when they want to throw. Does it work all the time? No, and I don’t expect it to, given the offense they run.

Anyone have insight on how the Cavs’ rushing attack is this year? Did I read correctly they ran for 300+ on the ground against Anna? Hornets D might have their hands full trying to stop both elements if that’s the case…
3 capable running backs and a QB that can direct the I formation pretty well. I'm amazed how we did adding that to our offense

Let me start by saying that, idk if you can tell by my username, but this matchup means different for me then it does for the average Coldwater fan. Lots of emotion there.

Coldwater is coming off of a 28-6 victory over the Bluffton Pirates and the Kirtland Hornets are coming off of a 41-6 win over Galion Northmor. Kirtland does what they do. And Tiger can coach with the best of them. It's not impossible but it'll take the game of our lives to beat these guys. But we're capable too!

Seniors, thank you for everything you've done for this program these 4 years. You've sure done what it takes to get here. And we're all proud of you. We love you and thanks for playing!

Coldwater 21
Kirtland 17
Will be one of the best games next week. (Unlike ML game).

If this game was played indoors nice warm conditions or in Sept. I would favor Coldwater, but it is not. Next week will be cold windy not conducive to throwing the football and can CW run the football without the threat of being able to throw the football more than 10yds. vs a good defensive team, I doubt it. However, unlike most yappi posters I have been wrong once or twice in my lifetime.

you can go to the Midwest athletic conference for their stats? they might be on cavfootball.com also

This has the making of a really good game. Neither team will be intimidated by the other. Kirtland will do what they do. The Hornets are one of the few teams that can rack up points and never attempt a pass - not sure any other team has that ability. CW plays in the MAC so they will not be surprised by the physical play. Kirtland is really playing well - especially the lines. I will go with the team who's offense actually gets better the worse the weather is. It's hard to stop Kirtland when it's perfect outside - it's a whole different animal when it's cold and windy.

Indoors, outdoors, warm weather, cold weather.....doesn't matter. I still favor Kirtland in this game. Only team in the D6/D7 ranks that can trade blows with this Kirtland team for 4 quarters is playing Hillsdale. Prove me wrong, Cavs! We're rooting for you!
Defense and running the football plays in all-weather but CW against a team like Kirtland IMO needs to be able to throw the football to win, it is difficult to throw the football in cold, windy conditions esp. vs a good defense. CW has installed an I formation to be able to play more of a power running game but against a team like K they need to be able to throw the football some. Just look at Dalton the last 2 years early in the season vs K compared to playoff time weather definitely works against teams that rely somewhat on throwing the football.

I agree that nice calm weather would improve the Cavs' chances. I disagree with you where you said you would "favor Coldwater" in that situation. That's your opinion and you may be right. I favor Kirtland in any weather scenario here.

How would Kirtland fans say their secondary is this year? I know they had to replace a lot in that area. I'm sure they have improved a great deal during the year, but putting aside their improvement, are they comparable to the group that Marion Local faced in 2022 as Juniors and Versailles faced last year as seniors? The players numbers that I'm thinking of were 3, 18, 10 and 11. That was a good group of players. Stirred mentioned the weather, but let's assume the weather ends up being somewhat acceptable for passing, perhaps Coldwater can have some success there. I think the Cavs will keep the game close, but ultimately the ground game of the Hornets will win it.

This, CW will not be intimidated and just not like every ML or Cw team is the same in talent same goes with Kirtland. Does K dominate the LOS on both sides of the ball yes, K wins going away. ML's D-line and overall defense was about as good as you can get, will see if Kirtland's D is just as good maybe it is.

This is one year in which I'm looking forward to every game. Should provide some memorable football. Except for D7, I'll watch that just for enjoyment.

I will say this years Oline is probably one of the best if not the best Kirtland has ever had. The same oline guys swap in and out on dline. Every single one of them are strong as hell and quick.

Should be the best game of the weekend

Tiger feels this very well might be his best overall line ever. Everyone knows how strong all the Hornet players are - but this line is also very agile and fast like the previous poster stated. It's not uncommon for them to be blocking 20 yards downfield.

As I said earlier, if ever there was a great year to play ML.

I sorta thought CW may have had a punchers chance on Saturday but if this is indeed true then this game may be a lesson of futility for the Cavaliers.

Sounds like MSML.would be a more appropriate opponent for Kirtland.
