Let me start by saying that, idk if you can tell by my username, but this matchup means different for me then it does for the average Coldwater fan. Lots of emotion there.

Coldwater is coming off of a 28-6 victory over the Bluffton Pirates and the Kirtland Hornets are coming off of a 41-6 win over Galion Northmor. Kirtland does what they do. And Tiger can coach with the best of them. It's not impossible but it'll take the game of our lives to beat these guys. But we're capable too!

Seniors, thank you for everything you've done for this program these 4 years. You've sure done what it takes to get here. And we're all proud of you. We love you and thanks for playing!

Coldwater 21
Kirtland 17

When the divisions came out in the spring, most pundits circled this as the forecasted Week 16 game. That time has finally arrived. Excited for both communities to finally square off again after 12-or-so seasons. Looking forward to watching this thread develop throughout the week!

On another note, I refuse to say this thread has officially started without @Thavoice stating that this “could be the worst weekend in the MAC in years.” 😝

In all seriousness, I’m happy for Kirtland vs. The MAC Part 10 to unfold. Someone should seriously consider making a documentary or a Hard Knocks-like show one season.

The 2011 title game keeps jumping into my mind. Same final score 28-7 Kirtland.

Or it could be like 2012 when Kirtland finally got over the hump beat Ursuline who was 3tds better than everyone in that Division but came up short and got upset by Coldwater in the finals.

Marion Local defense dominated Coldwater up front I would expect Kirtland to do the same. However, a great job by Otten and his coaching staff to bring Coldwater this far considering the tragic event at the beginning of the season. I did not know the young man at all, and I am sure he was a wonderful human being, and I know this is secondary, but I do know he was an outstanding football player possibly the best lineman in the MAC and in D6. Just don't replace players like that, Go Coldwater.

I think Coldwater will struggle to stop Kirtland's grinding, ultra-physical run game.

The Cavs won't give up big plays, but likely won't be able to stop the numerous 3-yd to 5-yd gains that keep the chains moving towards the Hornets' end zone.

Regardless of the outcome, as Stirred said, this Coldwater team has done Cale proud this season.

Rubber match between these two in title games. Both looking for championship #8. Good luck to both teams.

GO HORNETS!

As we commence on Championship week, and I gather my thoughts for yet another Pulitizer esque post contribution I have.a thought to ponder this week....

Some of us in here know all to well how heavy the burden can be when the only acceptable outcome is a State Title.

This matchup.was predetermined the second the divisions came out.

Let's all just think about the type of pressure is on these two squads. Most never experience these sort of expectations.

We have the MAC Killer vs The MAC.

The only acceptable outcome from day 0 this yr is a title for both squads.

Enjoy. Appreciate and most importantly remember.....in some ways this just a game.....

...but.not.for these 2 communities.

Discuss. Sandbag, and prognosticate. .and as Arnold said..."I'll be back"

so I know Tiger has a team that can run the ball, and play great defense... how is their passing game this season?

Nothing fancy. They’ve completed maybe 40 passes on the season & almost half have gone for touchdowns. They pick & choose when they want to throw. Does it work all the time? No, and I don’t expect it to, given the offense they run.

Anyone have insight on how the Cavs’ rushing attack is this year? Did I read correctly they ran for 300+ on the ground against Anna? Hornets D might have their hands full trying to stop both elements if that’s the case…

That’s correct. They have two RBs. One is a 225lb battering ram and an all state LB on the other side on D and the others more of a slasher.

This will be a fun one Kirtland and the MAC yet again.

I’ll go 28-6 Hornets

Cavs keep it close in the first half but Kirtland does what they do best and start to pull away as the physicality overwhelms the Cavs.

This will no doubt be the best game this weekend in my eyes

Yes, be wise to have a jacket on. I think there will be some games closer than 28 - 6, least I hope so.
