I hope Anderson scores and goes for 2 to win....all because Avon refused to kick the EP and try to go up 9...
 
First down, Burnam holds it for a while and checks down to Kathman for just 3. He gets out of bounds. 2nd and 7, Burnam throws a screen to Jallick who takes it ahead for a first down at the Avon 49. Next play, Burnam holds it for a while and his pass is incomplete to Jallick. 1:34 left. Avon calls their second TO.
 
2nd and 10, Burnam runs it, breaks a tackle, and gets to the Avon 41. Clock is running. 3rd and 2, Burnam runs it again and has the first down to the Avon 38. Clock runs down to a minute. Burnam rolls left, fires, and it's nearly picked off, intended for Piening. 0:54 left.
 
2nd and 10, Burnam runs it and gets another 5. 3rd and 5 coming up. Anderson uses their second timeout with 0:48 left. Burnam rushing totals up to 31 for 143.
 
3rd and 5, Burnam hits Jallick, has the first down and gets out of bounds at the Avon 23. 0:43 left. 1st and 10, McClanahan gets a bubble screen up to the 18, doesn't get out of bounds. Dreyer isn't calling the timeout. Anderson snaps it before everyone's ready and it's a false start. 0:25 left.
 
2nd and 10, Burnam rolls right, throws it out of bounds. 0:12 left. 3rd and 10 from the Avon 23.
 
Burnam throws toward the endzone to McClanahan and it's incomplete. Anderson radio guys were screaming for DPI. 4th and 9 with 0:08 left, Burnam gets away from the sack, it's incomplete, and that's your ball game.

The Avon Eagles are 2024 D2 state champions. It's their first state championship in school history.
 
Congrats Eagles. I admittedly had my doubts all year but I know that feeling of finally getting over the hump. Makes it feel all that much better. Enjoy it. Glad to see a Greater Cleveland team take the trophy home.
 
These kids from Avon have been playing football in the snow and cold alltheir lives. Not so for the kids from Cincy.

Congrats to our friends in Avon! Well done. Anderson has nothing to hang their heads about because that was a fun game and unfortunately someone has to lose. Hope everyone makes it home safely.

Good of them to realize the speed of Andersons offense early to curb the replays. Still missed some plays though but the broadcast was much better than some of the earlier playoff games
