Cleveland Browns 2024 Edition

Delpit has been solid and Allen is obviously better than Baker but you can win with Baker. This is a playoff team with him under center. The big mistake was blowing it up for Watson.
Delpit is decent … Winfield near the best … if they had drafted Allen, they would not have blown it up for Watson!

i enjoyed every minute of that game last night

So your 2024 season has been
* 60 minutes of enjoyment last night
* another 120 minutes of enjoyment prior to last night (2 addition wins x 60 minutes)
* 480 minutes of your accustomed Browns seasonal misery (8 losses x 60 minutes)

Assuming an average of 10 losses per year over the last 25 seasons…..that’s tough. No wonder you are aways so bitter and a glass half empty kind of guy!

You sound awfully bitter yet you call others bitter. OK...

Last night was so fun to watch. I was never a Jameis fan while he was at FSU, due to all the negative stuff he did. Barely noticed him while he was at other NFL teams. But he is a character and seems like a good dude to have on the team. Man he had fun last night.

Not saying he is a great QB but he showed some moxie on the winning drive. Also, his TD run was pure effort. Most impressively, on the catch and run where Tillman fumbled, he was 25 yards downfield making the tackle immediately after the fumble. That really impressed me - he is a team guy that wants to win.

Albert Breer of the MMQB expects that Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry will remain with the organization heading into the 2025 season. "My understanding is that [...] the Browns' plan is to bring Stefanski and Berry back in 2025," Breer said during an appearance on Amazon Prime's Thursday Night Football broadcast.

And how much more money can a dome bring to the area? What's so hard about this?

Minneapolis is a much bigger market in a more central location. None of those events require a huge domed stadium, WWE SummerSlam was at the Browns stadium outside this year too. Seems like US Bank Stadium isn't bringing in all that much more money than our stadium.

Cleveland has a recently renovated arena that can host concerts, LiveNation made us a second tier market recently too. The big things aren't coming if a dome gets built.

Super Bowl in Detroit lost the area money (https://www.espn.com/nfl/playoffs05/news/story?id=2315303).

If Haslam wants to build a dome with his own money he can do it. The taxpayers aren't going to fall for it and the state has no interest in helping Cleveland because everyone else (Cincinnati, Columbus) will rightly start asking for their cut too.

But that's all besides the point, all I hear from the pro-dome crowd is it's going to bring a bunch of money to the area, how exactly? Maybe a Super Bowl, maybe a Final Four? Is Cleveland a big enough market for either of those? What concert requires an indoor stadium versus an arena, and how often do those shows come to Cleveland (if ever)? What other events are coming, are they really bringing money in? Could they be held at another one of the venues in Cleveland?

The dome would be attractive for about 3-5 years before Chicago or another bigger market finishes a new stadium. Then it's over. Cleveland isn't a big city anymore, we just can't justify the cost of a dome for events that are unlikely to come here. Focus on renovating the stadium and the area around it.

Here we go again:

After the Giants parted ways with their six-year pro on Friday, it didn’t take long for Browns owners and executives to get in contact with Jones’ agents Brian Murphy and Camron Hahn to float the idea of a potential move to Cleveland.

Being the smartest guys in the NFL, let alone the room, they can fix him.

Depodesta's calculations must tell them he's elite.

According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, Cleveland's plan going forward with Watson is to "add competition" to the quarterback room alongside him.

"The plan, going forward, isn’t the same as it has been," Breer writes. "Until now, the Browns have built a quarterback room to support Watson. This year, they’ll look, through the draft and/or the veteran market, to add competition to the room. So while the likelihood—because of the injury and the contract—is Watson will be back, the Browns are going to look to do more than just stop-gap the backup spot."

Think that the Browns-Broncos games always seem to be in Denver? In the last 12 meetings between the two, 8 have been in Denver and 4 in Cleveland. Monday will make it 9-4.

And it's flipped with the Chargers who seemingly always come to Cleveland. 9 of the last 14 (since the Browns came back) have been in Cleveland. I would assume the NFL knows about anomalies like this but with how complicated making the schedule work is I'm kind of surprised it doesn't end up happening more.

I’m the NFL went to 32 teams & 8 divisions, here is how the schedule is set:
  • Six games against divisional opponents — two games per team, one at home and one on the road.
  • Four games against teams from a division within its conference — two games at home and two on the road.
  • Four games against teams from a division in the other conference— two games at home and two on the road.
  • Two games against teams from the two remaining divisions in its own conference — one game at home and one on the road. Matchups are based on division ranking from the previous season.
  • The 17th game is an additional game against a non-conference opponent from a division that the team is not scheduled to play. Matchups are based on division ranking from the previous season.

I did know the 16 game schedule and it's formula but did not realize that the 17th game was both out of conference and based on division ranking. I guess that's more fair compared to going to best matchups for ratings. Knew they were out of conference but didn't realize it had a set formula like the rest of the schedule. I don't like the uneven home/road balance of the 17 game schedule but I assume league expansion and the addition of an 18th game down the road will solve that.

The challenging thing for the NFL seems to be picking the home/road of the two games of the two other divisions in the AFC. I think because the NFC games are once every 4 years you see some better balance on home/road, home one year, road 4 years later. But there's definitely some imbalance on the other AFC division same-place home games.

I would love to see how they make the schedule. Even with the formula of knowing who plays who, there's clearly a lot that goes into it. If you look close enough there are quirks in it, like the Cleveland going to Denver more often than they come to Cleveland and on the flip side the Chargers coming here more often than we go out there.

And I’d assume some of it is simply some teams finishing in the same spot within their respective division. It seemed like NE & Colts always played one another but they were always 1st in their division.

In other news, water is wet. Literally everyone who knows what the NFL is expected that the Browns would not rely solely on Watson going forward. Berry would have to be insane not to look for another QB.

As I posted weeks ago, the Browns need to do what the Giants just did to Daniel Jones. Tell him "DeShaun you are 4th string until your contract ends. You will be expected to be at every meeting and practice but you will never be on the sideline on game day." Make him ask for a release, like Jones did, and get some concessions from him.

We need to slow it down. Wait until the Trump administration can weigh in on the subject, then follow their decree.
Alright, folks, let me tell you why building a dome stadium for the Cleveland Browns in Brook Park is the most tremendous idea you’ve ever heard. Believe me, nobody knows stadiums better than I do!

First, let's take a moment to honor the legends of the Browns. Jim Brown, a real winner! They call him the greatest running back of all time, and I have to say, he’d definitely score a touchdown in any era. And don’t forget about "The Drive" and John Elway... or was it Elway who drove every Cleveland fan to drink? But don’t worry; with a dome, we’ll keep the spirit of real champions alive! It’ll be huge, folks, the biggest, best tribute to our football legends.

Now, let’s talk about the weather. Cleveland winters are brutal; Snowflakes everywhere! I mean, snowflakes here have more attitude than Hollywood stars! Who wants to sit outside in a meat locker to watch a game? No one, that’s who! With a dome, we’ll bring the warmth and comfort. It's going to be like a five-star hotel, but for football! Just think, sunshine all season long, even when it’s snowing harder than a blizzard in February. We’ll attract fans, the best fans, like never before!

And let’s face it: downtown Cleveland can be scarier than a bad haircut. Seriously, it’s a place where you might find the excitement of a football game mingling with an unexpected horror movie. It's dark down there. By moving the stadium to Brook Park, we’ll create a beautiful, safe haven. Families can come, kids can be kids, and everyone can enjoy the game without looking over their shoulder. We’ll create a fan paradise, one that’s safer than a kindergarten classroom!

This new dome will be fantastic for the economy. It’ll create jobs, American jobs, boost local businesses, and turn Brook Park into the hottest destination since the invention of air conditioning! Cleveland will have to build a wall there will be so many people coming to the dome. We’re talking about tailgating like never before, people. You’ll want to be part of this historic moment; you can say you were there when the Browns were reborn under a giant inflatable dome!

So let’s make this happen, people! Don't worry about cost. Mexico will build it. A dome stadium in Brook Park will not only celebrate the great past of our Browns but also bring safety, fun, and sunshine to Cleveland football. It’s going to be enormous, the biggest dome. I promise you won’t want to miss it! This is how we Make Cleveland Football Great Again!

Yes! Let’s do it bigly, like nobody has ever seen before.

Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix was listed as a limited participant in Thursday’s estimated practice report due to a back injury, according to Zac Stevens of DNVR. The report was based on an approximation, as the team conducted a walk-through session rather than a full practice. This cautious approach indicates the Broncos are prioritizing player health as they prepare for their critical Week 13 matchup.
