Cleveland Browns 2024 Edition

Daddy Deion whe ll have his son play for ...wont let his little sonny play for the Browns ..he s already said theres only a couple of teams that he ll let him play for ...Dallas is one which meens Deion could be the next Cowboys coach in couple yrs

I am definitely not a Deion Sanders fan but can you blame him for jutcanting his son to be drafted by Cleveland? The Mannings got Eli out of playing for the Chargers & the Spanos family.

The Browns will probably be picking somewhere between 5 thru 12. I do not believe any of this years QB are rated or considered as good as the six 1st round QB’s. Go for a solid OT or DT, build some depth for 2025 so you are prepared to draft a rookie QB in 2026. Take your medicine & cap hit for 2025 & 2026, don’t throw a rookie QB in the mix for 2025 behind a talent depleted O-Line and team with poor depth thanks in large part to the lack of salary cap $$$.

2024 has been rough, 2025 will be no better but there will be light at the end of the Watson Tunnel in 2026. Starting in 2027…..Deshaun who???

I think next year is the sunk cost year. I'd prefer to just let Winston play another year especially if he can beat the Ravens and Steelers. I'd prefer to just tell Watson to stay home but that's not going to happen.

Hopefully it's a new front office. What about taking a guy in the middle rounds? I like the Rourke kid from Indiana as a later round prospect. But I worry about bringing him into this mess.
Look at all the teams with supposed GREAT franchise QBs ...Buffalo, Baltimore ( neither QB has come through in the playoffs to get their team to a SB yet).Lamar Jackson is OVERRATED .CHOKES in the playoffs. you dont necessarily need to guy with all the stats ..you need a LEADER..Mahomes isnt putting up gaudy numbers but hes been playing with the same core pf players for yrs now and they are cohesive in all areas . You dont need the flashiest stat whore QB ,,,,you need a TEAM LEADER ... once the Browns find that ,they will be ok

Gotcha

Why not?

From the article above ........

Of the projected 2025 class, Cam Ward of Miami (FL) looks like a potential star. As does Shedeur Sanders of Colorado. Then there’s Jalen Milroe of Alabama, who could fall or rise up draft boards depending on how he finishes with the Crimson Tide, along with the pre-draft process.
Browns hire Dion and draft his son...

Super.
Bowl.

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
How about the Browns stop trying to get players who will sell jerseys and find solid players who fit in their system? So far, their need for publicity has overshadowed their need to consider the entire team. We don't need another egomaniac and his interfering father. Enough with that bull.......... The Browns have had enough chaos at the position.

Head coach Deion Sanders has his son Shedeur as his starting quarterback and he is orchestrating his every move as he heads into his final season with the Buffaloes. Sanders as a prospect is a mixed bag. His dad wants everyone to believe he’s the top quarterback in the country and a lock to be a top-five pick. Hopefully, NFL general managers won’t be swayed by his sales pitch and will trust the film. Nevertheless, Sanders has his list and here are the six teams he says his son will play for and no other team.

Browns are definitely NOT on the list.

This is a VERY stupid list. 5 out of those 6 teams have their current & future starting QB in place. Only Atlanta has a QB question mark in 25. Not to mention Penix was drafted in the 1st round by Atlanta.
I was going to mention Archie Manning not wanting Eli to play in SD, but that was more of a ' I don't want my son playing for a rotten team" rather than Deion's ' I only want my son to play for 20% of the teams in the league. Shedeur is talented, but I don't believe he is a franchise maker

I would take Jackson right now and I wanted the Browns to draft Allen when they took Baker. I sure wish the Browns had the opportunity to choke in the playoffs... They just choke all year long.

He is the
Just a pros pro.

He has been the saving grace of the Browns. I'm most disappointed in the whole Baker Mayfield fiasco because it robbed us of seeing Chubb lead a capable team. The Browns have been terrible for years. All they had to do was consistently make the playoffs and the fan base would have loved them for years. They could have drafted a few guys to compete with Baker and maybe find their guy like the Packers did replacing an aging Rodgers.

The Baker of today, no doubt the Browns could compete with him. But the Baker that was in Cleveland and where he was spiraling towards - I do not believe so. Baker’s journey to Carolina & getting cut and then into LA Rams and his Sunday night win on less than 48 hours with the team and then his 1/2 season of playing for Rams HC McVey - I think that made him a far better player/humble person. I still do not believe he is capable of getting a team past the 2nd round of the playoffs but he is definitely a top 10-16 NFL starting QB.

I love his commercials - he will do great as a college commentator after his playing days.

Maybe so on the journey, but his rookie year was pretty good. I, like all of the other lamenting Browns posters, like to believe it was due to injury. I guess we will never know. I do agree that I don't think he can lead a team to a Super Bowl unless they are an all star cast with the best coach in the league, which is something the Browns would never have been with him anyways.

I think if the Browns used some common sense and taken Baker off of the field when he was obviously hurt that he would have not declined so quickly and would have been back to form much quicker. This team has won games with journeyman QBs, it certainly could have won games with a healthy Baker.

Maybe but there was some concerns. I do not know exactly what was going on regarding Baker and OBJ but there was something. Now as an organization if you are going to bring in a personality such as OBJ one better get the results for the headaches he will undoubtedly bring. Also, Baker didn’t handle the Browns original pursuit of Watson. Once he responded like he did I think the Browns had little choice but to move on from Baker and they decided to offer Watson the $242 mil guaranteed.

Moving forward, general manager Andrew Berry can’t fool himself. He can’t re-sign Winston as the presumptive starter and believe the Browns are going to have a magical playoff run as they did a year ago with Joe Flacco (that run also went splat in the wild-card round). Berry also can’t lie to himself thinking Watson, whenever he returns next year, will ever look like the player whom Cleveland traded three first-round selections to acquire.

The smart play moving forward for Berry?

Sign Winston to a one-year, incentive-laden deal which allows him to compete for the starting job. Meanwhile, move up in the draft if necessary for Ward or Sanders and bring in someone capable of winning the AFC North who can outduel Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow in the future.

From there, tell Watson to stay home. Pay his money for the upcoming season and 2026 (cap hits of $72.9 million each year), then allow him to disappear into the ether, long remembered as one of the worst transactions, both in the trade and contract, in North American sports history.

Sanders is not the answer.
I'm not sure any of the QBs in this draft are the answer.

They should've rode with Baker and we'd be talking about playoff seeding right now instead of draft position.

Baker would not be the WB he is today if he had stayed in Cleveland and at best, the Briwjscwiukd be fighting for the #7 seed & 3rd place in the AFC North.

Pickens is inactive today...wonder if Tomlin is trying to avoid some fighting that would've lead to a suspension.

Regardless, a good chance for the Browns to sweep the Stillers for the first time in forever. This is our Super Bowl.

I'm pretty pessimistic. Hopefully, I'm wrong, but probably not. A Steelers blowout is more probable than a Browns sweep.
