Cleveland Browns 2024 Edition

Hahahahaha! You feel it news worthy to post that Cleve waives their #4 QB. What do I know, maybe its important?

Cleveland revealed it was waiving backup quarterback Bailey Zappe just hours before kickoff. The move was made simultaneously with the signing of rookie defensive tackle Jowon Briggs to the active roster from the practice squad. It will mark the first time that Briggs is active for the Browns on game day since being selected as a seventh-round pick back in April's NFL Draft. Briggs as spent the entirety of the season on the practice squad.

Jameis is such a fun player to watch...on another team. I don't think I could handle him in a meaningful game. Constant stress.

Undeniably a character and a funny one at that.

Yeah. Seems like a good guy. Love his personality. Teams love him, as long as they don’t need him to start games. Strong arm. But he sucks.

So far we are getting the good Winston. It must drive coaches nuts to watch Winston have games like tonight and then totally tank the next week.

A tale as old as time. The story was usually Jameis with 300 yards, 3 TDs, 3 picks. He stepped up last night. Almost 500 yards, 4 TDs, but 3 picks, with the two pick-6 backbreakers.

Jameis giveth, Jameis taketh away. But at least it was fun to watch. Unlike the turd-fests when Watson is the QB.

If Stefansky is back next year I’d say the Browns will obviously have Watson and either Winston or Sam Darnold to compete for the starting spot.

Drafting a rookie QB in rounds 1 thru 3 would be wasting a pick but taking a flyer on a QB I could understand.

As I saw someone say last night, this was the full Jameis Winston experience on display.

Here is my analysis of the Browns QB sitch-y-a-shun: Winston is not your starter going forward. He is a nice back up,
a team guy, good guy in the locker room, to be sure.

With that said, he beat BOTH Pittsburgh and Baltimore. That's huge for this team. And that's just the first game against them.

And I would say that if he was your QB since the beginning of the season, he beats the Giants and Raiders, and at least one other game.

That would make you 6-6 right now, and "in the hunt". Is he taking you deep in the playoffs? Of course not. But he's giving you a shot at
making them.

Remember how we won with Flacco last year, and people were going wild? But you forget that just like Winston, he threw a ton of picks along with a bunch of TDs.

Now, on to Watson. He clearly does not play his best in this Dorsey offense, nor did he under Stefanski's system, which is similar.

So what do you do with him? Keep pounding a square peg in a round hole, hoping for a different result? Let's hope that's not the plan.

You either have to radically change the offensive system to suit him, or get rid of him.

I don't want Winston as the long term starting QB for the Browns but for the time being he's world's better and far more watchable than the deviant ever was. Actually, every journeyman QB used by the Browns in the last 3 seasons has been better that the $243M pervert. I much prefer watching a team that can move the ball, though too frequently turn it over, than watch that weekly death march under Watson with the defense having to limit the opponent to the teens.

In my opinion Winston is a drastic improvement over Watson. They need to resign Winston for next year but dont guarantee him the starting job. I say we draft a QB if we are high enough in the draft. Let Winston be the bridge QB. We cannot win with Watson. The browns have done everything possible to get Watson back to his old self but nothing works. Who knows maybe Winston can take less chances and turn things around.

Moving forward, general manager Andrew Berry can’t fool himself. He can’t re-sign Winston as the presumptive starter and believe the Browns are going to have a magical playoff run as they did a year ago with Joe Flacco (that run also went splat in the wild-card round). Berry also can’t lie to himself thinking Watson, whenever he returns next year, will ever look like the player whom Cleveland traded three first-round selections to acquire.

The smart play moving forward for Berry?

Sign Winston to a one-year, incentive-laden deal which allows him to compete for the starting job. Meanwhile, move up in the draft if necessary for Ward or Sanders and bring in someone capable of winning the AFC North who can outduel Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow in the future.

From there, tell Watson to stay home. Pay his money for the upcoming season and 2026 (cap hits of $72.9 million each year), then allow him to disappear into the ether, long remembered as one of the worst transactions, both in the trade and contract, in North American sports history.

Sanders is not the answer.

Why not?

From the article above ........

Of the projected 2025 class, Cam Ward of Miami (FL) looks like a potential star. As does Shedeur Sanders of Colorado. Then there’s Jalen Milroe of Alabama, who could fall or rise up draft boards depending on how he finishes with the Crimson Tide, along with the pre-draft process.

Daddy Deion whe ll have his son play for ...wont let his little sonny play for the Browns ..he s already said theres only a couple of teams that he ll let him play for ...Dallas is one which meens Deion could be the next Cowboys coach in couple yrs

I think next year is the sunk cost year. I'd prefer to just let Winston play another year especially if he can beat the Ravens and Steelers. I'd prefer to just tell Watson to stay home but that's not going to happen.

Hopefully it's a new front office. What about taking a guy in the middle rounds? I like the Rourke kid from Indiana as a later round prospect. But I worry about bringing him into this mess.
