2025 St. Ignatius Football

As someone who is close to Will this is the smartest decision he could have made. Ignatius football is a mess, and he did need to do what was best for himself. LB is out and you can thank all of yourselves for that. Great coach who simply cared about the kids and really bought in to kids who wanted it and took it serious. If Ignatius wants to be serious again, they need kids who take the sport seriously and act like they wanna be there.
Yep, lb’s offensive line performed great the past two years….the guy is all about himself and “lb brands”. If he is out, good riddance.

LeCharles Bentley had a short stint (maybe one year) with Coach Kyle about 15 years ago, it did not work out and he left for Glenville, not sure the reasons but he didn't seem to work out with that opportunity

Under most circumstances I would say anyone who doesn’t want to be part of the program fully can leave. Anyone.

However, there seems to be a lot of underlying storylines.

I will say this- wish the players who left the best of luck- sincerely. But, they were part of two historically awful seasons and it’s not like staying likely would change things in 2025.

Good points. I think they have to do a reset on the whole program. It’s in shambles.

Maybe Elvis can become HC?

I thought it would have been him after Chico, but Franzinger really wanted it.
This program is quite interesting, especially if you read between the lines. This comes after the obvious lack of discipline and sportsmanship, which was so 180 from Kyle. To then have this program start, and for Grbac to mention Kyle and Restifo, but not the current HC, is something. Could just be reading too much into it, but I think he has much more of what it takes to lead the program at the top, and maybe this is the beginning of an instrumental influence

It’s also interesting to me that he left his Alma mater VAsj. Ignatius is an amazing school and one of legendary status not just in athletics but also in academics so I do kind of understand it.

As I recall, Grbac was a Wildcat assistant in 2014-15, his son's junior and senior seasons. My son was on the 2015 JVs and Grbac acted as the offensive coordinator for that team. JVs had a good but not great season. I had hoped he would stay on staff but he moved on after his son's senior season. He became head coach of VASJ in 2019 and led them to a 6-4 season. They went 1-7 in 2020, which I think can be discounted because it was the COVID year. That was his final year. I would be interested to hear from any VASJ fans as to why his tenure there was so short.
